8:52 PM

Geez. I decided to go back to school in Feb 2010. Seems forever ago now Glad I went, however I just want to be DONE. Being an adult college student is kinda of the pits-- If I'd done college back when I got right out of high school, On a Friday night, I doubt if I'd be in my 'dorm' room Alas, I am in the year 2011. Just yawned. Cats snooze. All night doing school stuff--which, has Pissed me off. There ain't an "i" in team. I'll leave it at that. Tomorrow is Saturday, I'm sleeping in. My one cat who bugs me to be hurry up and Open his 'store'-calls himself the Chief Executive Cat aka CEC I remind my gray 'n black striped tabby tiger He has but one maybe item for his 'store'- at best! The cat stares and flattens his ears. Hmm. I wish he would learn to flush the toilet So it's now 8:57 PM It's a cool Friday eve-would love to open the windows- Unfortunately, so windy, over 50 mph- Smell the smoke from wildfires over 100 miles away... I hope we get more rain to help those folks! In the meantime, I'm ploppin' on the couch to Watch today's Young and the Restless (I do think Cane is alive) Eat some Special K cereal before the milk expires- Stay tuned.

Twenty

Twenty percent chance of rain tonight. Dream for 100 percent of that 20 percent to be over my house.

Cats. My brood is stretched out close to me. One snoozes here on the desk, as I type. They do keep me company. Just wish they'd get a job. Or at least get paid to sleep all day. Now that would be a cool thing. Can you see them hand over their paychecks with their little paws? Oh wow--I could maybe get that Kitchen Maid Mixer, if they did.

Doesn't hurt to dream even for 20 percent of it to come true and I look so good alongside red...

In the meantime, my a/c clicks on --again--gotta pet an unemployed cat, munch a salad and watch today's episode of the Young and the Restless. Who IS Ronan? Honestly, I do hope he doesn't stay in Genoa City long...

You bring the ice cream, 'K?

Friday

Made it thru my first week of new job training and I ENJOYED it. No joke! Sure, there's some bumps in the road--and some bumps for co-workers--yet I ENJOYED it. There are 40 of us in the room--so for me to say this, it's gotta be good!

Also my education path is gets smoother. Juggle some and kinda got the routine down a bit better. My course is all online. Although, I do admit to missing face to face interaction, I'm OK, to work on the PC, while a cat sleeps on my desk as I do the work,(on a little blanket just for them), then log off my PC and take said cat with me.

Like I'm gonna do right now. because Chinese take out, said cat, and today's Young and the Restless episode await. .

Friday. All good. No need for more to be said.

Check In

Day 2 of drip drops in my bedroom baby brown eye balls, as my Persnickety Pink Eye Experience endures. I drip drops 4 times a day. At this writing I got one more to drip for the day. In all honestly I do see a difference. My right eye is almost clear, while my left tries to catch up.

Pink eye.
Never had it.
Never want it again.
Made sure I kept to myself at work day. Hand washed. Sanitized. My house should get such treatment.

Red and some shades of pink, I do look quite divine in. However, not when my bedroom baby browns make me the star of some D+ Sci fi flick, "Brown Sugar's Perilous Pink X-ray Peepers.

Ain't really feelin' none of that.

So on this night, more snow falls in Dallas, the utility company did get my check in the night depository from last night, so water still runs in my bungalow (and yes, I still drank my 74 oz of water during work today), I'm headed to my purple jammies and then plop on the couch.

Got Blue Bell Caramel Turtle Fudge Ice Cream to ease the Perisnickity Pink Eye Experience-plus today's Young and the Restless episode--just WHO is Tucker McCall?

Life is good.

Ultimately

Well, still no Dancing With the Stars Result Show tonight....bah.

On my day off (and I have another tomorrow), my mission was to locate Giovanni, a particular brand of shampoo and conditioner. I read Target sold it. Alas, the Tarjay less that five minutes from my cluttered home didn't have it. So I stopped at a drug store a block two away, where their website has Giovanni products listed-----well, not at this store. So I sucked it all up to journey, in mist and fog, to another side of Dallas to Ulta. Ever been to one?

I hadn't in a couple years. Ulta has designer brand hair products, fragrances, plus stuff you could buy at Target, like Clairol and the like. There were top of the line flat irons for a hundred bucks---on sale. All the staff, seemed majority born in the late 80's, were decked out in black. Nobody bothered me to ask if they could help except the young lady who asked if she could do something with my eyebrows. She even said my face told her that would be a "No".

More amazed I was, the clientele was in my demographic, even older. Ulta had mineral make up I wanted to inspect, I was in there for a Giovanni shampoo and conditioner and that was all. Which to my joy was buy one and get the second at 50%.

Ulta is pretty cool store, yet I think it takes its poshness a little too serious. And I felt a bit out of place in my jeans and Tweety Bird sweat shirt. Well, maybe not too outta place. I did sign up for an Ulta card where I can earn points with purchases afterall.

No Dancing With the Stars. Got the trash out by the curb. I'll pet a cat and settle in to watch today's episode of the Young and Restless.

I can clean tomorrow...maybe...I got the day OFF.

Stay tuned.

Tuckered Wednesday

I am beat. To drink 74 ounces of water today--wore me OUT!

So much to do. My kitchen floor screams to be mopped and clothes wonder what it feels like to be hung in a closet and dust whispers it's tired of being on the piano.

Oh well. Chicken awaits to mingle in a bowl of lettuce and spinanch as today's episode of the Young and Restless glides by on the TV.

Priorities.

September Sound

Hopped on my scale this morning. Put ALL my weight on it. No cheat. Smiled because a few pounds were gone. Loved it. No where close to my 41 pound weight to be gone--but baby steps. And I like that---ALOT!

When did September get here? This year. I'm blessed to have air in my lungs--yet it's been one of the worst years--professionally and personally--in a while. I continue to say my prayers and praise Him for what I have been blessed with and what is to come. True test of my faith. A few years ago, I wouldn't even use 'my' and 'faith' together in sentence. Things do improve.

Chatted with a fellow blogger chum--how it's interesting folks, that you know and see face to face-say when they read your blog, it's as if they're talking to you. So why really talk to you, since they know what's going on with you? Hmm. A compliment in there--somewhere-maybe --yet sounds kinda chintzy to me.

On the the up swing, drowned myself in my daily 74 ounces of water today. Made it through work. Realized again, how I work with some terrific folk, even if the job isn't so terrific, however it's terrific I HAVE a job.

So on that note, I'm headed to the couch to watch today's episode of Young and the Restless, pet a cat and ponder how September go there so fast! Cue up Earth, Wind and Fire so they can try to explain! :)

Day Off

...and the only thing I've done that I said I planned to do-was take a walk. Instead of a jaunt to the rec ctr, where I could bike and stroll in air conditioned comfort, I headed to the park up the street. Was concerned about the heat, yet not alot of humidity. Since the open heart surgery, I've done my best to stay within the guidelines set for outside activity. The nice breeze helped during the walk. Just peaceful.

Once again, it proved how I like being home. To do what I want to, while others are at work. Granted, I don't want to be sick again to have that feeling. Just nice.

Later on, I do need to go get POKED. Yea, that's what I call my blood check for my coumadin. I'm such a poster child for this stuff, which was peddled as rat poison. Fortunate no real issues. Except I know when I am tired--I am tired, so I stop until another time. Just live.

Now since I have some time until the POKE test, I'll wash my dishes. Oh heck, who am I kidding? Gotta watch today's episode of Young and the the Restless-getting GOOD! Adam needs to fall down his own flight of stairs!

Stay tuned.

Almost...

But not quite. The weekend---the LONG weekend. So in the meantime, after all the DWTS and American Idol, plus the banter I had going back and forth on chums' Facebook Walls, I'm ready for a breather! See, they were for Kris Allen, and I wasn't. Uh...I said no more Idol until 2010...I lied. Oh, and wouldn't ya know, one of those chums said I really knew how to stir up the pot.

Sweet!

Did the Senior Rec Center tonight and tomorrow morn, I'll step on the scale to see if it screams as loud. Hope not. Funny, how much I missed the whole bike, treadmill and read routine. Getting my nerve to do the pool there. My bestest good best friend, Bingo agreed she'd walk it with me. After the over 30 years, we've known each other, Bingo didn't realize how terrified of water I am. Like to be around it, wade, yet gotta always touch the bottom. Life as synchronized swimmer woulda been a dream unfilled.

I could go on and talk about a bunch of stuff, but ya know, that's what tomorrows are for. Right how, gotta finish putting the trash out, eat a salad, pet a cat and watch today's episode of the Young and the Restless.. I just want to slap Jill and wish I could remember the back story of Mary Jane and not feelin' Cybil Sheppard's daughter Clementine as Mac. Anyhoo, the train to Genoa City awaits.

And cue up the Commodores with "Sweet Love" just because I heard this in the grocery store tonight. Reminded of how good a song this is especially before Lionel Richie became LIONEL RICHIE, and when he played in a group.

Right Foot Forward

Had today off. LOVED IT. Had to go get POKED. That's what I call my Coumadin check--to make sure my blood isn't too thick or too thin, for my mitral valve. It's all routine now. I realized again, how blessed I've been to not have any set back from the little open heart work done in 2006. My scar does remind me--daily.

Had to get gas, twas only a buck 65. To think that's cheap. Planned to send my stuff to my Tax Guy. Forgot the envelope at home. Will do tomorrow. Popped me some corn, pet a cat, looked at the trash I need to put curbside, as time ticked to:

I only reality show with DWTS and American Idol. That's about all I can handle. Happiness will run through me until May. About the time Spring Fever really sets in and I wanna do other things on my weekday night. In the meantime...

I never was much of a Go Go's fan, but Belinda Carlise and I are same age and AARP membership invitees-so I'm not ready to see her Go Go. Football is my thing, yet Laurence Taylor didn't quite get a first down tonight. That guy from Jackass? What's his name again? Actually was impressed.

Plus gymnast and fellow Iowan, Shawn Johnson, was very good. And that Gilles guy--who is he? Sex in the City? Never saw the movie, because I never watched the show...sorry. Yummy he was. David Allan Grier was tough and tasty in that green tux. Impressive. The founder of Apple..bless him for stepping out there. Just vote for him because he tried and he's likable. And I don't know anything about rap, yet Lil Kim delivered. I only knew her from going to prison.

However, the dancer who impressed me most, was the jilted one: Melissa from The Bachelor. So very graceful and she knows ballet. Love me some ballet. Right now, she's got the better gig. I don't watch The Bachelor, and really didn't know who she was.

Sure, I left out other dancers tonight. There's a reason. They tried--yet the ones listed stood out for me! And Karina barely had enough doily to call what she had on a costume.

So we'll see what happens next Monday. In the meantime, gotta put out my trash, then try to cram in today's episode of the Young and the Restless: WHEN is Kay going to regain her memory??? And Sharon is being such a....well, when she turns up pregnant, which one of the 3 men will be the daddy? Stay tuned.

I'd be great in the waltz..1...2..3...Dance!

Friday To The Point

It's Friday. Work Week Done.
Dreams.
Passions jump into hydro-drive just as quick as dishes pile in the sink.
Octo-mom's celebrity lasts just a minute. Prayers for her 14 angels last forever.
President Obama is not Moses. We all need to do our share.
Tiger Woods will be on the golf course again. Not much of a golf girl, yet this is special.
Blue Bell Coffe Ice cream in the freezer.
Cat ready to stake claim to the lap.
Young and the Restless ready to be watched...Sharon is SO dumb and when will it come out Mrs. C is really Mrs. C?
Friday--It's the Weekend.
Get to the point.
Cue the song.

Monday Madness

You head out the door to your Pumpkin to drive to work. You really didn't want to go anyway, because you've been pretty much awake since 3:45 that morning. Due to having to make a potty run, and not quite falling back asleep. You ease closer to your Pumpkin and you see it. A flat. You call your boss to inform her you'll be at Shawshank as soon as you get someone to change it. You're usually a strong Chaka Khan I'm every kinda woman, however mechanics, of any kind, are your not your thing. This morning, you are a damsel in distress. You're just glad you're distressing in your drive way. Anyway, the second you hang up with your boss, the lights flicker and off goes your electricity. This is 7:45 am. You're afraid you missed the electric bill disconnect bill, when you're usually so good about. :) You realize your Pumpkin still has some warranty, so you call Road Side Assistance. You're told it would be 40 minutes. They lied. The guy didn't show until about 9:30ish--due to being with the last customer. He wasn't bad looking, so you overlook it. After her fixes your tire, he tells you three times however if you have any trouble, just give him a call. Maybe the guy was being nice. You get to work after a stop at 7-11 for a white cupcake cappuccino--you're kinda ticked because the pumpkin latte was replaced with french vanilla. So you get to work by 10:45. You know you should stay to make up time. You leave at your usual 4:30. Oh well. There's trash to put by the curb, salad to eat, cats to pet, Young and the Restless to watch because Lilly now knows Billy is Chloe's baby Daddy, and poor forgetful Mrs. C has been kidnapped, Jill thinks the DNA results she's told are true, and.....well, there's just things you need to do.

Cue up Chaka Khan.

Next to the Last Day

Can you believe it?

2008 will soon be a vision in the rear view mirror. Does it seem possible? On this night before the BIG night, do you reflect of what's transpired in this year? Or do you wait to do that tomorrow--since that will be the BIG night? Do you ask chums what their plans are? Do you ask them if they remember the New Year's Eve where y'all were high school seniors and knew that the New Year would bring change like you never thought--graduation for one? Or were you just content to party then, with the entire town, in a chicken coop, drink lots of beer and dance to the high school guys rockin' in best garage band style? Does that memory make you smile to this day?

2008 ends tomorrow night. Can you believe it?

Right now--maybe not so much. Because today's episode of Young and the Restless still needs to be watched, plus a piece of fudge still needs to be savored, a cat still needs curl in your lap and purr, and then to top it all off--you still have a 7 AM phone interview before heading off to your current-and hope soon to exit because of a better opportunity-job.

As we head toward the finish line, 2008 still carries alot of generous, goodness and gracious weight.

You should like that.

Monday Over

Still so bummed about the Dallas Cowboy's horrendous loaf of moldy bread they presented to the entire country yesterday. UGH! Losing 44-6. Why couldn't they prove they were as GOOD as the loaves pictured here? Oh MY! Did they believe their own press--that they were THAT good? Did they think they wouldn't have to really play the game? What really goes on in Tony Romo's private life? Sure, it's not our business, however Jessica Simpson might decide to tell "Entertainment Tonight' for the Real or Rumor section. Ya know, she may be the sweetest person in the whole Northern Hemisphere, yet it can't all be too easy for Tony.

OK so it's Monday and I got two more days to get through. Before a long weekend plus a brand new year, which brings up a brand new adventure. Are you ready?

And for the Cowboys--By July, which will be Training Camp, I'll be more than ready for some football. Sure hope the team is too--especially to realize there ain't an "I" in team.

Gotta pet a cat, eat a Christmas cookie and watch the Young and the Restless.
*sigh* Next Season.

Tuesday Twink

Just two days ago my windows were open to catch a delightful December breeze in the 79 degrees temperature. Today--not so much. Right now it's 32 degrees, the heat is on and a couch awaits my arrival. Today we had a spit of sleet in Dallas. Not enough to shut the whole city down--yet enough to cause some havoc. And of course this was the day of our department Christmas spread ---yea, yea...call it "Holiday" if you will--it's Christmas to me, always will be--back to the story--I chose to bring a crock pot full of taco soup.

Yea.

I usually don't bring stuff to these things. Just give $ to chip in what ever somebody else is doing. Today, I just had to step out of the box. Today was foggy and cold--no 79 degrees temp to bask in. I pondered would I fall on what ice there was on the ground-flat on my back? If so, then the crock pot would smack me in the head. Since I take coumadin, I'd need 911 ASAP to get me to the nearest hospital because of my thinner than other people's blood. However, as I'd wait for the ambulance, the still hot taco soup would scald me.

Yea. Hey, I'm a writer. Imagination--it's what I live for.
Long story short--I made it inside--in one piece. Plugged the crock pot in and soon the aroma was the rapture of the room:" What is that?" "It smells great!" "When can we have some?" The taco soup was #1 Billboard material as the crock pot emptied before any of the other Christmas spread's yummies. Several folks, including my boss, informed I need to rustle up another batch because they didn't get any.

And ya know what? I didn't either and that's OK. Since folks enjoyed it, made my fret all worthwhile.

The couch, a blanket, the remote and a cat await--today's Young and Restless episode needs to be watched.

So You Say It's Friday

I'm blessed to have a job. I keep telling myself that.

OJ sentenced. What year IS this? Oh wait--it's not for murder? But for kidnapping, guns etc? The Juice tried to squeeze out of trouble just one too many times. I feel for his and Nicole's kids. Wonder how much $ was spent for their therapy as OJ hunted for the real killers on the golf courses.

Funny chat with a co-worker during lunch. Turns out, we'd both had an association with the same guy we met online. Said he was a pilot and was to appear in Ebony in an article about professional men. She was shocked I'd actually met the guy. He took me to lunch at Tony Roma's--and he DID pay. However she wasn't surprised how he tried to con $ out of me. He needed $4000 for some reason and how he was going to lose his job flying. Need I say he yelled at me for not seeming to like him and how I didn't even sound like a black girl? This was during a phone call, while he was supposedly resting between flights. Yea, whatever dude. So when he asked, "Don't you have a credit card?" And I respond, "What makes you think I'll give it to you?" Gee. Wouldn't ya know the guy hung up on me? Didn't hear from again. Tsk.

Economy still reeks. All must be patient with our new President Elect. To me, it seems, he's done more before he actually takes resident in the White House, than the lame duck President has done in months.

Might freeze tonight in Dallas. S'ok. Gas bill is paid. Got blankets. Got cats that turn into bricks with fur and purr. They'll be needed as I savor some ice cream while I get caught up with Young and the Restless, Grey's Anatomy and do I dare admit: 1948's On the Town, my all time favorite musical--with a young Frank Sinatra and tappin' Gene Kelly?

In fact, let's cue the boys as they sing "New York, New York"--not THAT one, but this one--the opening song in On the Town! It's a fun and besides, it IS the weekend!

Dancing--Just Be Feelin' Like It

Looked in one of my diaries tonight. Just to see what I was doing on this day back in the Triassic Period, more specifically when I was 16. Turns out, I received my bowling bowl today. Yep, my shiny, all brand new bowling bowl. My best friend, bosom buddy and life long pal had gotten one (a purple one) so I, of course, couldn't be out done. Oh the best friend, etc deal--that's what Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble said about their friendship. So we decided that's what ours was too. During the Triassic Period, we were inseparable--now? Not chatted in at least 10 years--possibly longer. Hmm. That's another entry for another day, however back on that day-we were both so thrilled about our spankin new bowling bowls. Our names were even engraved! We bowled 7 games. Yep. Seven. With me at the high of 187. Through the years, my highest game was a 268 and still holding.

Now in 2008, I just finished watching Dancing With the Stars finals. I called in all my votes, plus voted online for Warren Sapp. Granted, Brooke Burke is the best dancer and Lance has come on at the end--but Warren. Big Man busts the move. You just gotta love it. Why can't I date a guy who likes to dance? I mean, REALLY dance? One who will take swing and/or ballroom lessons with me? For that, I'd make him his favorite omelet any time, day or night, suffer through the Three Stooges and not wear my most favorite raggedy t-shirt around him. The cats? Well--I draw the line there. They stay.

Gotta go pop some corn and watch today's Young and the Restless episode. Don't you just want Victor to hurry and crush Adam like the cockroach? And then go over and slap Jill for being a nut then slap Katherine so we don't have to see her go thru amnesia for TOO long? Yep. Me too. Then there's this other trip to take to back in the day. From the 70's original Donny and Marie variety show. Donny introduces his brother Jay who shows us how much he feels like dancin. He ain't Warren Sapp, yet it puts a smile on face. To remember a time when....well, just to remember when!

Word Up Walk Wednesday

Made it for a walk around the park before night fall. Got a kick watching the ducks do their paddle thing in the pond. Nice word shared with God as I trekked. Needed guidance on the short story I can't seem to pull together--it's really two stories in one, which was not the plan. Heck, I needed guidance---period.

And then Maurice Green was booted from Dancing With the Stars....ya know, he was good, yet he favors a guy from church--who wound up being pretty nasty. I critiqued an article of his not as good as he wanted. Oh well. He called me what a female dog is called....so even tho Maurice was good--he looked TOO much like the idiot from church.

OK--and Young and the Restless....any watchers out there? This whole Paris arch is such a snooze fest, they could have filmed it on a stage back in LA.

And then I heard this song in my Pumpkin as headed to the gas station to pump gas for >drum roll< $1.86. I have the nerve to think that's cheap--anyway---the song. Catchy and so 80's.--gotta love it--Cameo from 1986--....cue 'em and remember this is the day the Lord has made, and rejoice in it...Word UP!

Sunday Settle Down

Visited Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church today-with Pastor Dr. Tony Evans. The folks were nice. The message was on Dry Bones from Ezekiel. Hit a few places. The little girl beside me hit a few places in her diaper too. :) I think I'll go back for another visit. Since church wasn't part of my growing up, I enjoy visiting other churches now that it is.

Gorgeous late afternoon. Actually tried to de-clutter some of the house. A cat loves to scratch the carpet--which gives more determined reason to change the flooring.

Need to work on my newest short story. I could see this as a play. I just pray about this--there are times I wonder if I pray 'big' enough? Hmm.

Outside of all that--I need to get what little I planned to do done--because the Cowboys play in a little over an hour. The Emmys are on too. Sure, I can catch the hi-lights--but that's what DVR is for. Then tomorrow---oh, wow--I'll turn into a TV Tart. The Young and the Restless is finally getting good after a dry spell--the new Billy Abbott has too many teeth. However, tomorrow night....double dose...Dancing With the Stars, where I hope Warren Sapp can glide the light fantastic--then after that: Denny Crane aka Captain Kirk aka 'Boston Legal.'

TV Tart indeed. First up, The Dallas Cowboys and the Pack from Green Bay. Kinda lost some of the mystic since Bret Favre is no longer Green Bay QB. Nonetheless, when all said and done, better be 3-0 for Tony, Terrell, Marion, Felix 'the Cat' and all the rest!

I got the corn ready for poppin'
