One anniversary I do remember, while other--well, not so much.
***OK. The anniversary I do recall happened when I was all of 15 years old. Yep. On this night, August 21, my BFF and I were driven to the Iowa State Fair, in Des Moines by her mom and older brother. Any other time we would be hankerin' for some good ol' Iowa corn dogs or even a look at the infamous butter cow--but not this time. Nope.
*****This night was my first ever Osmond Brothers concert. This is way before Donny sang with Marie or Jimmy being the Long Haired Lover from Liverpool. This was the five performing Osmond Brothers. We sat in Section B, Row 4, seats 11 & 12. Back then Donny threw a purple cap out the audience. Alas, if I had raised my hand, I might have caught it. The cap went to the girl directly behind me. Such heartbreak at 15. :) Nonetheless, it was my first Osmond concert. The memory makes me smile to this day. Here's a link of the Osmond Brothers on Flip Wilson. When I saw them that night, I made up my mind I would see them somehow--some way--in concert. And I did.
**********And the anniversary, I don't quite remember? Tucked away in a tackle box (yes, a tackle box, my mom painted gold) is a calendar. Well, just one month actually. August. Each day, my Mom wrote something on it--especially that Dad had gall bladder surgery, and when they paid $25 to the doctor. Just a word or so on an August day to show plans or Mom's happenings. I read each day, as if to have a connection with my mom. Especially on August 21.
**On the calendar, my Mom wrote how she wrote her mom a letter (who lived just 40 miles away). The letter was to inform Mom's mom, that she was pregnant--with me. I was my parents' fifth try for a baby. I can only imagine thoughts and fears my mom had. If this pregnancy would go horribly wrong like the others. I wish I had a copy of the letter my mom wrote that night.
*****On this night, I smile at both memories--even if I can only remember one.

August 6, 1974 was Tuesday
.....and home from Las Vegas trip for four whole days. All my rolls of 126 film were 'in the shop" as we use to say back then--and I waited, what seems like years to have them developed and returned. Let me say, those rolls of film might as well be crystal. Fragile. Delicate. One of those rolls held my my prized possesion photo of me with Donny Osmond. Special cargo indeed!
**Let me back up a moment. Dad, my cousin, and I were in Las Vegas until July 26. I hated the thought of leaving. I mean, I would be leaving the Osmonds!! Plus, I'd met three girls who Greyhound it from outside Philadelphia to Las Vegas. We met in a hallway were the Osmonds would head to the backstage door. Those three girls and I had bonded and nobody wanted anybody to leave. Well, Dad wasn't feelin' any of that. Our next stop would be Phoenix, Arizona. So I had to say good bye to my new three friends--who remain y friend to this day--and to the Osmonds. Would the Osmonds even know I was gone?
**** Yep. An aunt and cousins lived there. Once they lived just 35 miles from us, now they lived in another time zone. This was my closet cousin. I loved her. She was like my big sister, but she was NOT an Osmond. Once I got to Phoenix, I did have a good time. And I did talk my Dad into letting me stay a couple more days, while he and my cousin went on back to Iowa. Those couple more days were August 2, 1974. Once I got back into Des Moines, I still lived another 35 miles away. My uncle was going to drive me from his daughter's place to my house. He just lived a few blocks from me. The thing is I had TO get home by 10:30 PM. Why? Because the Osmond Brothers were to be on the Tonight Show and their new single, "Love Me For A Reason." After some pouting and yawning, my uncle drove me home thinking I was just 'so tired from my trip."
***Sure, uncle. I made it with time to spare to watch guest host Joey Bishop introduce my fab five. I got goosebumps all over again. Ya know, like any fan, I wondered if by some chance they remembered me...maybe?
******To cut to the chase, I still had to wait a couple more days for my film to arrive. I don't think the kids of today could fathom we waited a week to see photos. My heart raced as I inspected each packets. I search for my infamous version of crystal. Where was it? Don't tell me the girl who took the picture didn't really take it?? Then:
Yea. My heart sank. Blurry. Right after my photo, there's the photo of the girl who took the picture with Donny. Her photo, that I took, was clear--although she was looking the off to the side. Donny was smiling right at ME....with MY camera. I did send the photo the girl as I'd promised. Here I was, sending her a gorgeous photo, even tho she looked off to the side, and I get Blur City in my Iowa small town. I just knew this was going to be the best there ever was. Would I ever get a chance to see Donny and the rest of his Brothers ever again--so I could get a better photo? And make more memories? Would I?

Sunday Check In...
Looks like I was away for another more days than I thought I would be. Sorry about that. I will try to do better. Plus, I'll follow up with the Donny Osmond story tomorrow....I promise! :)
***In the meantime, today I decided I will pursue my doctorate agree. At my church, Inspiring Body of Christ Church, a member of the 2012 graduation class of high school, certification, associate degree, bachelor's, master's and doctorate, all spoke for a couple minutes. Enlightened and motivated they got me. They gave God all the glory. Forget the part I need to finish my bachelor's and then my master. However, I know it can be done. Stay tuned.
***And in the few days I've not posted, a little history has been made at the London 2012 Olympics:

July 24, 1974, Donny Osmond & Me
Today was the day, in that galaxy far far away, known as the 20th Century, I met Mr.Teen Idol King himself--Donny Osmond--for the very first time--sorta. Yep. Somehow I talked my Sweet Big Daddy Don to take me to for a four night, three night stay in Las Vegas, so I could see The Osmond Brothers. Their younger sister Marie had just started performing with them too.
***After some prodding, and I'm sure pouting on my part, Dad agreed. He thought my ten year older than me cousin Jan could come along-sort of another female for me to hang with. Dad wasn't sure what we were getting into. Heck, me being the Osmond fan, all I cared about was seeing the Osmonds perform, for just my second time--and >gasp< MEET them? The teen magazine bible at the time, Tiger Beat, showed pictures of lucky girls who got their Deep Purple moment to meet them--plus I was really in the pen pal circuit then.
***Any of you have pen pals? Ya know, we actually wrote letters, put stamps on them, and snail mailed them. About 99% of my worldwide 100 pen pals were also Osmond fans and even most of them had met Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and just about everybody's hearthrob, Donny. I was bound and determined to be part of the elite group too.
***OK, back to the story--The Osmonds were performing at the Tropicana. Due to some convention or something, the hotel was booked. Dad, Jan and I stayed down the street at the Hacienda--which had a leak in the ceiling hallway. Dad wanted me to stay with him and my cousin--I wanted to go to the Tropicana. I won. We did breakfast at the Tropicana, on the 24th, and all I could think of is I wanna meet an Osmond....and I'm sure my Dad looked at those menu prices and wondered if a McDonald's was near by...
*******As we came out of the Tropicana restaurant, Dad wanted to do something silly, like sight see--while I wanted to might see some Osmonds. I did know Dad wasn't feelin' that so something had to happen and quick otherwise I might be banished to the Hoover Dam. As if God heard my prayers, a fellow teenage girl asked me who I was and I told her. She began to smile and told me to look in this thick scrapbook on her lap.
******I saw a picture of ME and a short note I wrote to the Osmonds! This other teenage girl was named Bonnie. She'd written me a few months prior, saying she was going to be Las Vegas for the Osmonds. Bonnie planned to give them a scrapbook filled with their fans and would I want to contribute? Never, ever thinking I would meet her (Bonnie lived out East) now here she was! Bonnie, her sister (I have forgotten her name) and a few other teenage girls were waiting in the hallway, outside the restaurant. Bonnie said this spot was a great place to meet the Osmonds---they did have to eat. My eyes widened and I looked at Dad. I'm sure he panicked. I wasn't even close to 21, this was before Las Vegas was kid friendly, and I wanted to be left at this hu-mungus hotel for as he said "a bunch of white boys." I know Dad was about to say No. And he really probably should have---but something happened. Not sure exactly what.
***Maybe Bonnie's parents said something to reassure him. I do remember them talking. After what seemed like forever, Dad said I could stay, but I had to stay around Bonnie and her family. I had to be back at the Hacienda by such and such a time because we were going to see the Osmonds perform that night. Dad gave me taxi money and hesitantly left me there, only after I spotted my first Osmond--the eldest, Alan and his wife Suzanne. They had been married so far, at that time, a grand total of eight days.I got my picture snapped with him. Girls were going nuts, flashing cameras (way before digital) and all--I knew then I wasn't in Iowa anymore.
*****Then as if on cue, Wayne Osmond walked thru--hysteria again. I got my photo op with Wayne too. I could not believe my good fortune! I don't know how long we waited--minutes, an hour or so--I don't remember, and my diary doesn't tell me---SCREAMS. Some so high pitched only dogs could hear them--Girls were pushing each other. SCREAMS. Tears and why?
********Donny. DONNY. I froze. The security guard stuck to Donny like glue. I took as many pictures as my little box 126 camera could take--- The guard let a couple girls get close to have their picture taken with Donny. That alone made the hysteria get even worse. The guard took Donny's arm and began to lead him away. I tried to get my picture with him, as the guard led Donny away. No luck. I did get Donny's autograph but no picture to really prove Donny and I occupied the same space. I was downtrodden for awhile until....

June 25,1977, was Donny Osmond Saturday
....and I got to see this guy.Yep. Donny Osmond. Not quite 20 year old Donny Osmond. Photo snapped in Des Moines, Iowa--Donny, his brothers, sister Marie and their parents, were literally in my own back yard. Well, 35 miles away from it, yet closest at literally I was gonna get! *****By this time in 1977, I'd trekked to Las Vegas a coupla times to see said Osmonds. Back then, Vegas wasn't so family friendly like now. My friends and I weren't 21 yet--so we were underage to be going around Las Vegas alone. We did not care--OSMONDS made all the difference. Also by 1977, I'd journeyed to the East Coast to see the Osmonds--in fact, come August of 1977, I was in Pennsylvania, where we stayed up all night. Yes, we did. We were giddy Osmond and planned to leave early in the morning so to the Philadelphia airport to see them off.*****And we did. I have one of my favorite photos of Donny from the Philly airport, which I cannot locate. Digital wasn't around then. Just negatives. It's gotta be somewhere. *****I digress. Back to Des Moines.*****What I remember is how GREAT it was to have the Osmonds where I lived! Although I loved my adventures to see then (have I told you about the time Donny came off the stage and gave me hug in front of the whole audience?) it was way cool to know they were just RIGHT THERE! *****Girls were everywhere. Screams. Osmonds. Flashbulbs. Pictures snapped. The Hilton in Des Moines was absolutely no match to the Las Vegas Hilton, so we fans were crammed in tight quarters. I think the police weren't that sure what to do either! And we didn't care. Being crammed into that hotel, was better than the concert at Veterans Coliseum. Our seats were about 6th row--yet so far over to the side. I could probably have seen better, literally from my own back yard. Spoiled from previous Osmond Concert seats. Still to this day, I MUST be up at that stage, regardless of who the performer. So to see the Osmonds up close and personal at the Des Moines Hilton made up for it:

...and did I tell you about the time Donny said he had more soul than me?
Water color and purple memories...
And even those glasses that I LOVED at the time--
Nice....nice... indeed.

Marie Osmond's Sweet Second Verse
All my chums know I had (have?) such a thing for the Osmond Brothers. Yep. I make no bones Donny was not even close to being at the top of my Billboard Chart, until his voice changed. So, it was older Brother Merrill who had (has?) my heart. Gravel voice and all. Oh, and did I tell you I saw 26 Osmond concerts before I saw anybody perform? I felt I cheated on the Osmonds. No joke. I'm sure there's some hidden meaning in all that, especially, since the Osmonds really didn't know who I was. I'll save that for another post...It was the Osmonds Brothers-except Jimmy was too young, and Marie--well, I was envious because she had the good lookin' brothers, could sing (even tho to this day I'm not a "Paper Roses" fan) and was pretty. Something I really didn't feel I was much of--so what Marie, did was Marie's business.
Fast forward. To Marie and I both being members of a 'golden' decade. I see thing so different now. Have for a few years really. I look at the troubles Marie had--the post partum, her daughters' troubles, son in rehab, fainting on live TV on Dancing With the Stars, her second divorce, and the tragedy of her son's suicide. By then, I had interest in Marie. I watched how she handled each situation.
We are both grown women now. We both had gone thru some valleys, yet mine weren't as deep as hers. I understand relationships better, especially after I'd gone thru my own. I wasn't keen on the 'work' Marie seem to have done, especially when her lips seem a bit puffier on some days than others. Yet, I admired Marie. Her business savvy with her dolls. I wonder Marie did do it. There were pitfalls--we all go thru them-Marie's seemed like an endless pit.
Then came yesterday's announcement Marie married her first husband Stephen Craig. During their first go round, I thought he has pretty cute. I remember being at a Donny and Marie concert in Kansas City. She said something to Steve in the audience, and there he was, not standing so far from me-just beaming. I wondered what went thru his mind.
Looking back, we were all so young. Marie have been mature from her life in showbiz. Yet we were all so young in that first marriage year of 1982. Marie wore the same wedding dress she did back in 1982. The only thing I could possibly fit in from 1982, is a comb through my hair...
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is, Marie deserves to be happy. I always believed Marie always loved Steve. He may not have been ready for it as much as he thought. I think Marie always loved him. I think time heals all and helps us grow. Could have have happened in this case.
No mattes, what Marie does, still is Marie's business.
Congrats!

So Steve Tyler
The rest of Aerosmith singing with an orchestra back up. Who in the world woulda ever thunk? Not me. Back in the day, I so raised my can of Schlitz beer to this song many a time. Thought Steve Tyler was kinda hot in a my Thomasina weird "I'm not sure why because he wasn't really Donny Osmond and I liked Donny a whole lot"kinda way.
That was back then. Now it's 2011 and Steve is a judge on "American Idol"--just one of the two 'reality' shows I do watch. Honestly, I thought he was a poor choice for judge. I mean come on, drugs, sex, rock n roll were his anthems. I just didn't get it.
Now I kinda do. Gotta admit, I know American Idol's 10th Season is just underway as I write this, however I am pleasantly surprised with him. I started to get that way when I caught Steve's interviews about "Idol" on TV. More soft spoken and seems to genuinely like the kids. He's firm, yet loving---so far, and I love when he has on his reading glasses. Then I know Steven and I are simpatico. Anyway, just have a feeling when they get to Hollywood Week and then when the show goes live--Steve will expect more.
Steve is a member of a band that's sold 150 albums. Alot of wanna be's can only "Dream On".

Still July. Still Donny Osmond.
Still Dallas, Texas. TX. HOT. Got Blue Bell Peaches and Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream in the freezer and watermelon in the fridge. All is good and so on with the story....
Took a trip through time (aka my diary and my blog) because of Donny Osmond. My very first airplane trip took me from Des Moines Iowa to Las Vegas! You see, back in yester-century, namely the 70's, my own experience of Osmondmania was well in hand.
In fact, on this night, July 24, in 1974 I sat smack dab in THE BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE in the Tropicana Showroom, to see Donny, his brothers and sister Marie. My sweet Big Daddy Don tipped the 'd 40 bucks for our seats . I sat at the end of these steps that came down from the stage. I really didn't get it--at the time.
Looking back, I bet some of the other teenage girls in that showroom hated me for where I sat. I had no clue it was THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE. My dad probably just wondered what in the world he was doing there. The scotch and milk probably erased any of his thoughts.
Being in shock I was seeing the Osmonds so up close and personal, imagine when the moment came I realized I had THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE. Girls crowded around the bottom of the steps as Donny broke out in song--I honestly can't remember, maybe "Puppy Love"? Donny came to the steps, maybe even took a couple steps down. Girls went nuts. I went speechless.
Donny was right THERE! He sang. Girls screamed. He reached and squeezed hands. I finally gained consciousness and raised mine. Donny TOUCHED my hand! We looked into each others eyes. Donny's smile blinded me. For a moment we had--well, a moment.
I asked my dad what he thought of the whole Vegas thing. My dad as only my sweet Big Daddy Don could say: "I thought you were crazy."
And the picture below isn't from 1974, because that picture of Donny and me is so blurry. Way before digital-so this is photo is from 1978. Still Las Vegas Just eight days after Donny married the girl on the left, his wife of 32 years, Debbie .
Even now on this so hot July summer day 2010 in Dallas. I still gotta smile because I was sat in THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE!

Sunday Short II
Sunday bout done.Tomorrow I go back to work. Honestly, I have LOVED this time OFF.
Refreshed.
Rested.
Ready.
To tackle changes that danced in the wind before I left.
Heck, I'll worry about THAT tomorrow!
In the meantime, a chum of mine did an overnight to Phoenix for a wedding-.
He was OK with the 24 hr trip and was glad to be back in Dallas.
For me, I thought an overnight wasn't long enough--he said "It's Phoenix."
Not sure what that meant, but--
I gave ponder and decided if I was to do an overnight--it would be
New York City. Yep for 24 hours. Not so much to see what sites
I could see-it would be for the four chums I have there, who I did the
Whole Donny Osmond and the Osmond Brothers thing with.
My chums and I have not seen each
Other for such a long time now-so for
That 24 hours we'd squeal, giggle and remember
How it was when we were 17-
Yea, for 24 hours I could do that.
For starters anyway!

Do you Twitter? I tried. I don't care for it much. Granted, by the time I signed for the first time, I had two blogs and realized I had a strong pulse on Facebook. A chum of mine is addicted to Twitter, as I am to Facebook and my blogs. If you're familiar with Twitter, folks follow you and you follows folks. My chum has over 800 worldwide folks following her.
Me? 38.
My chum loves to read Tweets and respond in kind. Me? I got bored. I didn't want to read everybody's Tweets in 140 characters or less, when meant I maybe read lots to get the point. Yea, it's fun to try to edit t0 140 characters, yet I grew weary. Then I started school--something had to give.
So Twitter Twunked out. I go there ever know and then-like every couple weeks or so. I follow William Shatner, Donny Osmond, Aaron McCargo and even Dame Elizabeth Taylor and Terrell Owens. I rarly read past the first page of Tweets. My chums knows all bout Twitter, I don't.
And I'm OK with that. She suggests I follow the Tweets of authors I like, well I do that on Facebook--even intermingle with some. I could read tweets about writing hints---well, why would I do that if I just read stuff about writing and NOT write?
Oh well. Maybe one moment I'll get on the Twitter Twagon.
This isn't that moment. Right now, I'm twired and this cat awaits.
Stay tuned.

Easter II
Easter Sunday is Resurrection Sunday and the day I began my Spiritual Journey.

It was Easter Sunday 2003, I set foot in a church that had nothing to do with a wedding or mainly listening to Donny Osmond give his testimony. Yep, there was a point in time I research to be a Mormon--like back in the 70's. So, the only reason I was in a church prior to that day in 2003, was because of the Osmonds. Granted, it wasn't a bad reason. It just wasn't the right reason for me. There was void in my life--and it had to get filled.
OK, the whole point of this is, I'd pretty much decided to go to the church where I started my spiritual journey: Christian Chapel Temple of Faith CME. I hadn't been there since November 2008. I felt 'hungry' after more services than I liked. More Sundays, I wanted 'more' from the sermon. In fact, I'd leave Christian Chapel when service was done, and head to Inspiring Body of Christ Church, with Pastor Rickie Rush--which had 3 services then. That is, until the move to the new sanctuary in November 2010. Sure, there were Sundays I felt I O'D attending both services--yet I'd feel better. I realized I'd rather get more from The Word than not enough.
Even yesterday, I ran into a member, of Christian Chapel in the grocery store. In a part of town, I don't even live anymore. We hugged. It was grand to see her--and she said she'd even save 'my spot' in the sanctuary. Told her I was thinking about coming for a visit. She glowed and I was pretty sure I was gonna do it. When I came home, I was confused. Not sure where to go.
I wanted to see the church where all this started. Heck, I could miss a Sunday at IBOC. I wanted to sit in the pews and remember how I felt on that first Easter Sunday--oh man, I was so petrified that day in 2003. I carried a bible I'd purchased at Half Price Books, just for this church moment. I had yet to open it. Me? Church? HA!
Easter Sunday morning 2010. I woke up. Thanked God for the breath in my lungs and went to IBOC. No hesitation. Just got up and went. Other Christians may get the struggle I had yesterday. There was none today. I sat in a seat and within five minutes I heard a familiar voice.
Bear. My mouth dropped. At IBOC, right before service starts, ushers lead groups of the attendees in a circle of prayer. This is the first Sunday I'd ever been in a group where Bear said the prayer. In fact, it's the first time I've heard Bear say prayer--outside of grace over food. By the time Bear began our groups' prayer he'd seen me and waved. We hugged after service was over. One of these days I may need to ask him what goes through his mind at those moments.
Journeyed long since that Easter Sunday in 2003. I realized when another usher called me "a true Woman of God; " today-no where, before in my life, did I ever think such words would surge electricity in me--more than any other compliment.
Got more mountains to climb. And I realize some people in my life are not really getting where I'm going. I can deal with that.
I know a Light shows me the way.
And I'm OK with that.

Seems
Like I missed yesterday so: Happy Belated St Patrick's Day everyone!
Instead of the partake of green ale--and I just recalled one year, I sipped on green screwdrivers-I spent St Patty's Day in a back room throwing out junk. Spring cleaning I guess. Quite over due--trust me. I'm not too sure which Spring I'm cleaning for!
Wouldn't call myself a 'hoarder' I just ignored this whole back bedroom. :) Began to search boxes--yes, boxes that have sit there since I moved into the house two years ago. Honestly, I'd gone thru the boxes and pulled out what I needed-yet never really put the contents in its one space. I recall when I began to pack up to move to this house, I told myself I would throw away what I didn't need once I got IN the house. Ironically, I closed on this house on March 17, 2008 and had no clue it would this long to get this done.
Amazed what I found like a VHS of "....when Harry Met Sally." I don't have a VCR hooked up to my DVR. Which goes back to this back bedroom plan I've had for...oh, two years...Put a futon, just in case for guests, and TV hooked up just for the VCR. And I want a treadmill in there too-for an ornament :)
Also found copies of the newspaper Bear had been editor for. I re-read a couple articles he wrote, and recalled how good a writer he is. Plus, I smiled, because I'd forgotten in those early days of Bear and the paper, he would send me his articles to edit. I got really jealous of Bear and the paper too, however that's another post!
Books I'd forgotten about. A good-bye card from co-workers when I left the company I'd been with for 9 1/2 years to go to the one I'll now be 7 years in June. My first photos of Donny Osmond, when when we both were 16. Photos of pets long since gone. Cards signed by my dad. In a photo album, of my late uncle's, there was a grocery store receipt of $17 from 1948, for his mom--my grandmother who died before I was born.
Lotsa stuff to relish in and lotsa stuff to get by the curb. So glad tomorrow is trash day.
And SO glad Blue Bell Tin Roof Ice Cream awaits...

Slow Down
Did a walk tonight in my new tennyshoes. Did OK in em as I walked the neighborhood. My route is up to these benches, where I sit and watch cars zoom by and then trek back home again. I sat and stared at the Church's Chicken across the street. Debated to bring $2.81 for their 3 piece and a biscuit special. Don't worry, I left my money home.
Months ago, I post how I needed to lose 41 pounds. I'd gained most of the 70 lbs I'd lost when I'd been sick, and kept it off until emotions from my job and this house got to me and I chose M&M's over a salad. I've kept up with my drinking 74 ounces of water daily (OK, maybe not so much on the weekends), but as for the loss of 41 pounds...
Let's just say, my bathroom scale is the only one in this universe that gets up and runs when it sees me coming!
Anyway, I've gotten back into my daily walks. I still would like a treadmill in my other bedroom for those days when it will soon be too hot to walk. I've cut down on my Blue Bell Ice Cream. Oh no, it's not disappeared actually, I just take slower to eat it--I savor it more--in fact Blue Bell's Tin Roof is in my freezer--and I hear it beggin' me to take a couple spoonfuls. Ya know how, ice cream can be SO pushy.
And one last thing--two guys, in my new job training class, flirted with me today, at two separate instances. Kinda caught me off guard. Been so wrapped up in learning the job, school, and the fact this is the most single I've been in a while--yea, they caught me off guard. Yet all very sweet and made me smile. Nice.
Shhh...do you hear? Oh wow...that darn Blue Bell!!
Tuesday goes OUT with a little '70's song by the Osmond Brothers: "Flirtin" .....enjoy!

Stats Wonder
I love to look at my stats. Not so to see the number of those that read my blog, but from WHERE they read my blog. To see the United States and then Turkey or Sweden. To wonder if it's the same person in California or Europe or Texas that come calling. Technology is something.
Do they find what they search for on my blog? Heaven knows I've chatted about lots of stuff from being born with one ear, to the death of my parents, to the Presidential election (which I may to comment on stuff going on now), spirituality and to my crush on Donny Osmond.
Always did have a thing for buffets. Choices.
Technology is something.

December 9, 1957 was Monday
And the day Dancing With the Stars Champ, Donny Osmond was born, all so Sweet and Innocent!
Donny Osmond. Oh man. It's difficult for me to imagine how, thru the years, I journeyed from Utah to Pennsylvania to Virginia, to Las Vegas and then just cross town, here in Dallas, just to see Donny and his family. My dad fussed about spending all this money to see the Osmonds and my step-mother just fussed period--but, my Dad--he LOVED to tell folks what I did and where I went to see the Osmonds. Me thinks he liked it as much as I did. :)
Heck, Dad and I would even exchange thoughts, if he happen to catch the Osmonds on TV. In fact, I recall circa 1972, the Osmond Brothers were on American Bandstand. Dick Clark said they were going to introduce a song--he may even have said it could be their next single: My Drum. It was taped in a recording studio--I think. My dad came in the room, and asked, "Is that the Osmonds?" I told him it was. Dad responds, "Damn! That didn't even sound like them." The song really didn't either. It's another what if Donny and Marie didn't happen-Nothing wrong with Donny and Marie--yet, just wonder...
Today in 2009 Donny, now a grandfather, celebrates another birthday. May there be many more.
This this whole Donny Osmond and me thing will go on and on--until at least until the 12th of Never--which, by the way--was the first single Donny released after his voice changed. Then and ONLY, then, truth be told--did I start to think Donny wasn't so bad!

Donny Danced!

To win Dancing With The Stars Trophy! How cool is that? Plus, Donny sang, "Puppy Love"--a song I really did hate until Donny's voice changed! Kid you not.
I was sure of that after last night's free-style. It was Mya's trophy to lose, until the free-style. Kinda feel for her, yet not really. Kelly grew, and I admire that. I'm sure Daddy Ozzy was mush watching his baby girl grace across the floor.

But the night was for Osmonds and Osmonds only. Donny got his wife, Debbie, and her carried onto the floor. His kids. Sister Marie and who knows WHO else, surrounded them. Donny proved you can turn 52 on December 9, be a grandfather and out do two ladies that could be your daughters! Yep-it was Donny's night!
For me, to watch from the comfort of my own home. In my bed actually, under the covers in my purple jammies--instead of like yester-decade as a teenager, lingering in a service elevator-hours on end--just to catch a glimpse of an Osmond. As of tonight, I am more confident Donny ignores the AARP membership invites that turn up in the mail.
Just like I do.
Congrats to YOU, Donny!

Donny Does Dancing With the Stars
Before 1977 to Now 2009-LOVE IT!
Just give Donny Osmond the DWTS mirror trophy. He earned it.
In my opinion, Mya lost the competition during her free-style. As good of a dancer she is, I never warmed to Mya. It does make me wonder what Mya wanted to do that was so spectacular for the free-style? Wonder if she'll blame Dimitri for it? I think he had the roughest time with Mya--Dimitri should get a 10 for just that!
Nonetheless, Donny showed the young bucks how it's done. Kelly and Mya could have been his daughters--yet he hung right with them. Donny's moves why I continue to ignore membership invitations to join AARP.
Just give Donny the Dancing With the Stars Trophy. He WON it!

Dance Donny Dance!
Yes indeed--Donny Osmond is the Dancing With the Stars Finals! And last night, Donny's second dance was to the Osmond Brothers' (before Donny & Marie-waaaaay before) first number one single, "One Bad Apple." Donny was draped in purple, which any Osmond fan knows was Donny's favorite color--remember his purple socks?Donny survives to dance again against the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne and a singer who was born, in 1979, right before the original Donny and Marie variety show was cancelled for the right hoist the tacky trophy only DWTS the could pull off.
Stay tuned.

Moment Monday
On Dancing With The Stars, I don't want Donny to go tomorrow. I'd be real OK if it were Joanna or Kelly. Mya is the best dancer---yet the Titanic would sink cuz of her. Elegant, yet an ice berg. Not feelin' love from her. I'm tired. It's chilly. I may finally crack on my furnace. Cats make good heaters, plus they purr.
Yep, I am tired. Don't feel much like ramblin.
Hey,there is always tomorrow.
Say your prayers--He always listens.

Microtia Moment and More
Reminded of this whole microtia thing today. I was born with out a left ear. Nothing but a little lobe from my head. Underwent a TON of hearing tests, it seemed, weekly during my growing up years. No surgery to construct an ear. When I was kid, there was nothing as sophisticated as now--yet I'm so use to having one ear, would be so different to have another--especially if I was able to HEAR from it. Anyway, today I was reminded I have a hard time on my left side, especially when the room is loud to begin with.At work, a soft toned co-worker, spoken guy stood on my left. He spoke, yet I didn't hear him. I felt his presence and I did apologize I didn't hear him. Told him--how on my left, it is difficult. He just smiled and said he only wanted to know I was. Very sweet. Recently found out, this soft spoken guy tries out jokes and doing stand up comedy here in town. I look forward to laughing during one of his shows.
With just one ear, some folks say I purposely ignore them because I don't respond...uh...well.. :)
OK, Dancing With the Stars, Donny survives to strut his stuff in the semi-finals. He is so much a better dancer than Marie. I'm OK about Aaron getting the boot home. I've enjoyed DWTS this season, with starting with 16 couples was TOO much. I'm happy none the less. Every time I watch Donny dance, I do get reminded of the novel I say I'm going to write about my experience with The Osmonds. A goal would be to have Donny read the manuscript and give an endorsement. I dream BIG.
The fault is to never dream at ALL.
Since a cat just leaned against my leg, with claws out, that's it for Tuesday.
