Tuesday Twinkles

Ya know, I love me some Dancing With the Stars--

I admit to being addicted. Since the second season when Dallas Cowboy Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith won the Mirror Ball trophy! Tonight was this season's first results show. And the major buzz has been about the former Chastity Bono, once the daughter of duo of Sonny and Cher and who is now Chaz--the first transgendered contestant on the show. Chaz can DANCE! I just smiled when Tom Bergeron (the host) said he and his pro partner Lacey were 'safe'. Now, with all that first show buzz outta the way--let's DANCE. I want some sequins to dance the night away!!

On top of that--I received and order to make two pots. My co-worker the Captain, wants me to decoupage two terra cotta pots for a chum of hers. Her chum works in a pediatrics office--so she wants the office's logo and slogan on the pots. Nice. I have another vision about what I want for the pots--

Yet, it can't be all about me....drat!

Stay tuned.

Terra Cotta Pots...Where Were We?

So much has happened, in these last few days. Met with a different university advisor who announced they really couldn't tell me what credits would transfer until I applied and enrolled into their school. I didn't like that. Of course, the advisor was about 23 and telling ME what I should think of my future. My job changes. Same department. Same seat. Different tasks. This happened Tuesday. Champs crowned on both Dancing With the Stars and American Idol. Just fine with those choices. Last night the Dallas Mavericks became Western Conference Champs and headed to the NBA Finals. Nice to have something to cheer about after the Super Bowl fiasco and the current NFL lock out. City is going nuts and I Like IT******So after all this, I took a crafty chum's suggestion to do a little show n' tell on my first completed terra cotta pot:

Treated the 4-inch pot's inside with Thompson's Water Sealant. Primed the outside (should have done the inside too). Folk Arts acrylic blue paint with Folk Arts Gems painted on after the blue dried. The Gems are gorgeous blue 'diamonds'. Compliments the paint in splendid fashion. Got more Mod Podge on me than I smothered the pot with (if that' s even possible! ) Learned lots doing this pot. Kind of hesitant to show y'all because it is not as good as it could be---will be.*****The paw prints were made with one of those hand punches. One toe is missing. I Mod Podge'd it off--by accident. Didn't realize it until the pot was pretty well dried. Decided the gone toe would signify me being born with microtia. I was born missing an ear. In my case, I have just a lobe where my left ear should be. And finally, the snoozin' kitten photo is suppose to be on the fuzzy side. Used colored pencil filter. The big ol' tabby cat out the pot is actually said snoozin' kitten once upon a few years ago.*****The first time. Got it out of the way. Thanks for being patient! *****

Terra Cotta Pot III

This is my newest pot to experiment with:
And that's a piece of scotch tape. Part of my experiment too. I taped the photos that I plan to Mod Podge on the pot. I realized I may have found something to make ME happy. If I'm happy, that means I can BELIEVE in it.
The pot is a "bell' clay pot. Because it well--looks like a bell. Still an 8 inch yet, more round, wide and curvier than the standard 8 inch pot. And I hadn't really seen one until today at store, I hadn't been to in literally years: Garden Ridge. I like how the tape held my pictures on the bell. The pictures didn't get so 'lost' on the pots as they did on the standard 8 inch.
So during the commercials in Dancing With the Stars and rewinds if I missed something (oh, and I'm OK that Kendra got the boot!): I treated the inside with the Thompson Water Seal and let that dry outside. I never knew this stuff existed until a couple weeks ago. I probably did more than a couple coats--I'm still working on that part.
Once my bell dried, I smothered the outside with Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Primer.
I probably don't need the primer, yet I like my paint color to be as true as possible. I like this primer, more than Krylon. Just seems to hold better. Right now my bell pot is all snow white. I'll let that dry overnight and try to put a coat of acrylic gloss black paint on it before I got to work. I've decided I like the acrylic, especially when I painted a pot as I watched Celebrity Apprentice (Star and NeNe are Must See TV) and didn't need to worry about being fumes rendering me unconscious. Anyway, if I don't have time in the morning, I'll do when I get home from work.
Clay pots, paint and me....who woulda thunk?
I'm still in shock.
Stay tuned.

Tea Towel Tuesday

Yes.
Tea Towels. Tis the subject I will speak of today.
Do I hear a hush over the audience--from California to Greece?

Tea Towels?
From the girl who carries coupons for a brand of paper towel?
Why yes...yes....ME!
OK, cut to the chase, cause tonight is Dancing With the Stars FINALS and
American Idol FINALS and I have Blue Bell Cookies n Cream Ice Cream
Just callin' my name, plus a cat to plop and purr in my lap---!
Tea Towels--I want to conjure towels printed with my own photos-
Yes, I do.
A gulp was heard from the friends who know I pretty much
Flunked Junior High Home Ec... I digress...
What I've figured out is-must be a transfer, possibility heat transfer--
I've visited blogs, yet these Tea Towel Terrifics already know what they do--
I don't.
Must I make dozens of transfers for the dozens of towels I'd like to make?
Is there a one transfer that fits all? Is there a place that will do bulk?
I like pretty towels--when they're too pretty to even use--
The Quicker Picker Upper paper towel can't say THAT!
So, who out there can answer my questions and put me on the
Path of Tea Towel Tantalizin'?
Thanks in advance. If you were here- I'd share my ice cream with you....well...maybe... :)

Monday There

The a/c just kicked on. Yea, summer is about here. Over 90 degrees. I digress...

Ya know I have a paper due Saturday. I took a gander to see what it had to be about. To be proactive as it were. Well. Gee. I have to write a paper that is based on a interview I do with a human services professional. So, I'm glad I look now, instead of--oh, I dunno, Thursday. The beauty of this is, I do KNOW a human service professional who works with those who have been abused, and dabbles with those that have multiple personalities. Plus, she watches Dancing With the Stars, like me! I await her response to my e-mail, if she will let me send her questions. Stay tuned.

I could go on, however I really don't wanna. All my school stuff is done until I tomorrow or Wednesday--except to gather info for this paper. I've missed a doctor's appointment because of being engrossed in my job. I've not written any thing fun like a story or screenplay, because of school and work--

So tonight, I'm headed to the couch for a little Dancing With the Stars (down to the Final 3), a cat, and Blue Bell Cookies n Cream ice cream to help take me there--just like The Staple Singers perform one of my favorite songs. Just close your eyes and let it take you...

Monday Moan

....and no, Denzel Washington didn't knock on my door... ..

DRAT!

More like I put together our group paper for my college class. I admit I tried to get out of it, because I'd already done it before, plus this other team exercise we had to do. We all wrote our seperate parts and then it had to be put together in APA format--yep, that's I think to--APA, huh? The person who said she would do it, had a death in the family and the other teammate said she works until 4:30am, and besides she'd already done ONE. Whatever.

Then we had an online exam to take. 3 hours to take and it would time us, plus only one shot at it. So since I'm such a good student, I'd not read that much material. So open up another browser and do open book exam. Yep, my kinda exam...

Ya know where I'm going with this? Come question 9, as I looked up cross cultures in the workplace and its impact--I accidentally X'd me out of the exam
Done. Fini. OUT. I looked a big 0% for my score. There were 39 questions. I answered 9. I did leave a message for the instructor. It's 9:01pm as I type this. This class is officially over at 12:59AM. I start a new class tomorrow. The exam was worth 15 points. If I calculate it right, I could get a high C. Not what I wanted--but it taught me, I gotta really at least SKIM the material...

Oh and a cat barfed on the floor.
Moan, is right.

I'm on my way to watch my DVR of 'Dancing With the Stars' with a dab of Blue Bell Ice cream...

Ain't all bad.

Mystery

I toiled on a paper for school to discuss the importance of the diversity in the workplace and how it affects team dynamics...ya know--one of those FUN papers.

And I'm tired.

Really tired how the diversity of a full figured woman in something else than a before weight loss informercial, cleaning the house or anything but in a lingerie commercial lacks on TV. And here come Lane Byrant with a commercial with rubenesque beauties and it gets BANNED.

I guess the networks forgot those Victoria commercials and didn't get their own hour to show their underwear? Plus I am addicted to Dancing With the Stars--and tonight Pamela Anderson almost spilled out of her costume, while ESPN's Erin Mathews seemed to wear pasties over her bon bons--and well---maybe these barely nearly there costumes are for the dance--so being almost nekkid is 'art'?

The folks who banned this commercial have been lathered, bathed, rinsed and powered in double standard.

I'm tired.

Check In

Haven't written on here since Sunday. Able to take a break from the blog (and my cat took a break from his blog too!), plus a breather from school work. Ever since school, seems I live on this computer. Nonetheless, all good, and the break was needed!

Met up with a former co-worker last night at Starbucks. Talked about her loss of job,(they downsized) however she found her passion and writes a book and has dabbled in public speaking. She inspired me--and I realized I'm seeing someone else grow up and do great things. Very nice time. Also she runs and has done marathons--so she told me to kick the Wal-mart tennyshoes to the curb and get some REAL ones....

Also told a NY Bestselling Author about my idea about a middle aged love story--she likes it and encouraged me on.

Realize how you can care for folk, but they may see the worst in something, while you see the "why not?" in the same thing. And it makes you sad, when you know they won't be going up the mountain with you...

Looked over figures to figure how to get product made so I can to be a vendor at a cat show in June. Need a real silent investor. Stay tuned.

Kate Gossellin FINALLY got booted of Dancing With the Stars--GREAT! She cried. Here's a tissue--bye.

Gotta new flavor of ice cream that waits for me: Blue Bell Cake and Ice Cream...vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake bits and chocolate sprinkles....

Just to check in.
All is well.

Splenda

Ahh. It's Monday. As I write this, the oatmeal is cookin'. Yea, I fix oatmeal the old fashioned way--on the stove--and then I'm off to work I go. Did I mention it's 70 degrees out right now--before the sun is even up? Windy and muggy. Uck.
And the kitty's name is Edie. She kept me or better yet--my 7-11 coffee company! :)
On my blog, I receive visits from from folks everywhere. Makes me giddy. I admit, I'd like more comments left--just to wonder what folks think of my words. Hated. Liked. Laughed. Or Whatever. Saw visits from Beverly Hills, CA--and I wonder if they're from 90210 :)
Anyway, on with the day I go. Stuff to get done after work--so I can get ready for Dancing With the Stars (Kate has GOT to go home this week)! Then there's to watch Butler bring down Duke in the NCAA Men's Tourney.
Stay tuned.

More

As I gathered my trash to haul to the curb, my next door neighbor, Jesse, came over and asked if I wanted to learn how to prune my other crepe myrtle tree. He'd already done one, and the other was getting too up in the wires. I said, sure, however this adventure was getting too close to the start of Dancing With the Stars premiere show...

So I stood there, with gloves on, as Jesse clipped out of control branches and I picked them up and piled them. I hadn't realized how high the trees had grown. So by the curb are the branches with my trash. Jesse has helped me alot here. Both and his missus are nice and we're all about the same age.

After my crepe myrtle chop adventure, I came back in and hit my "PLAY" button for my DVR. Yes, I recorded DWTS. First night out, the Cincinnati Bengal Chad Ochocinco was better than last season's Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin. And even tho there isn't the vote off until next week, I would NOT have a problem with Kate getting kicked off to go home to her 8...yep, not a problem at all.

Stay tuned.

Monday Moments

A few days ago, I'd spoken of my across the street neighbor, Mister Bob. How I'd not seen him, really since Thanksgiving, plus his van isn't parked how he usually parks it. Tonight, I finally caught my next door neighbor home. She had her husband got on the case for us. Turn out, Mister Bob is not in his house. That's all we know. Where and why--we don't know. So my next door neighbor told me the car Mister Bob's son drives and now we are on the look out for that. I just hope and pray Mister Bob is OK.

It's Monday. I'm kinda over my Dancing With the Stars withdrawal. I mean, American Idol does start next month. Plus there's a little "The Closer" and "Men of a Certain Age" on TNT.
Gotta get the trash out by the curb before said programs. Wish my cats could do it for me...

Still forlorn about the Dallas Cowboys loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Ya know, they could have had that game. I still think the Cowboys can win in December--just not sure what year...

Stay tuned.

December 9, 1957 was Monday

And the day Dancing With the Stars Champ, Donny Osmond was born, all so Sweet and Innocent!

Donny Osmond. Oh man. It's difficult for me to imagine how, thru the years, I journeyed from Utah to Pennsylvania to Virginia, to Las Vegas and then just cross town, here in Dallas, just to see Donny and his family. My dad fussed about spending all this money to see the Osmonds and my step-mother just fussed period--but, my Dad--he LOVED to tell folks what I did and where I went to see the Osmonds. Me thinks he liked it as much as I did. :)

Heck, Dad and I would even exchange thoughts, if he happen to catch the Osmonds on TV. In fact, I recall circa 1972, the Osmond Brothers were on American Bandstand. Dick Clark said they were going to introduce a song--he may even have said it could be their next single: My Drum. It was taped in a recording studio--I think. My dad came in the room, and asked, "Is that the Osmonds?" I told him it was. Dad responds, "Damn! That didn't even sound like them." The song really didn't either. It's another what if Donny and Marie didn't happen-Nothing wrong with Donny and Marie--yet, just wonder...

Today in 2009 Donny, now a grandfather, celebrates another birthday. May there be many more.

This this whole Donny Osmond and me thing will go on and on--until at least until the 12th of Never--which, by the way--was the first single Donny released after his voice changed. Then and ONLY, then, truth be told--did I start to think Donny wasn't so bad!

Ultimately

Well, still no Dancing With the Stars Result Show tonight....bah.

On my day off (and I have another tomorrow), my mission was to locate Giovanni, a particular brand of shampoo and conditioner. I read Target sold it. Alas, the Tarjay less that five minutes from my cluttered home didn't have it. So I stopped at a drug store a block two away, where their website has Giovanni products listed-----well, not at this store. So I sucked it all up to journey, in mist and fog, to another side of Dallas to Ulta. Ever been to one?

I hadn't in a couple years. Ulta has designer brand hair products, fragrances, plus stuff you could buy at Target, like Clairol and the like. There were top of the line flat irons for a hundred bucks---on sale. All the staff, seemed majority born in the late 80's, were decked out in black. Nobody bothered me to ask if they could help except the young lady who asked if she could do something with my eyebrows. She even said my face told her that would be a "No".

More amazed I was, the clientele was in my demographic, even older. Ulta had mineral make up I wanted to inspect, I was in there for a Giovanni shampoo and conditioner and that was all. Which to my joy was buy one and get the second at 50%.

Ulta is pretty cool store, yet I think it takes its poshness a little too serious. And I felt a bit out of place in my jeans and Tweety Bird sweat shirt. Well, maybe not too outta place. I did sign up for an Ulta card where I can earn points with purchases afterall.

No Dancing With the Stars. Got the trash out by the curb. I'll pet a cat and settle in to watch today's episode of the Young and Restless.

I can clean tomorrow...maybe...I got the day OFF.

Stay tuned.

Til Tuesday

No Dancing With The Stars Results Show tonight. Man oh man.

Drank water. Looked in the mirror. Attractive--I LOVE my eyes--yet, shook my head cause this 41 pounds I wanted to exit off the scale--ain't happening quite like I want. Ahh, each day is a new day. A new adventure to make it all the more right.

A chum gave me a story idea. Perhaps of a past relationship that was hard to put down. How interesting the outcome could be. I smiled, because it is good idea. Although which relationship would I pick? The gay guy or the cross dresser or the one who thought he was a warlock or the magician? Maybe roll em all up together? Hmm.

Life ain't ever been dull. Wouldn't be much fun if it was.

Back to situation at hand. No Dancing With the Stars Results Show tonight.

WHEN does American Idol start?

Stay tuned.

Monday Moment Musings

No Dancing With The Stars. Withdrawal issues I have. I wonder if my Blue Bell Ice Cream will taste as good without Tom Bergeron's witty words between dances?

Hmm. What to do on a Monday? Where are my sequins and paso doble?

*Sigh*

To reality, tonight was one of those wishful moments to have a man 24/7. Yep, for those really important tasks-killing ugly, gi-normous bugs and to haul the trash to the curb. It's a bit chilly outside. So to carry it from the back to the front-wasn't feeling the joy of home ownership. Plus I had an extra bag or two, since trash didn't get picked up last Friday.

Then a local, best selling author gave me feedback of one of my short stories. She liked it and said it reminded her of a particular author. THRILLED I am--even tho I had NO clue who the author she spoke of was. Ahh..the internet being all knowing and powerful gave me info and now I feel like the unknown author and have already shared coffee. So over to Half Price Books I go--nada. Then across the street to Barnes and Noble

EEKS. I looked at 10 of her more than that novels. Five of them where like the short story I sent the local, best selling author. I wanted all 5, yet 70 bucks didn't want to escape my slim to none bank account. Then I remembered--on this author's site, I could print off a few chapters for FREE.

I am glad the trash now sits on the curb. So very glad of the compliment my writing received. Yet still sad there's no Len or Bruno and no-No Lift Carrie and Dancing With the Stars.

Oh well. Let's just see how the good Blue Bell Ice Cream still tastes...*

Short Simple Sunday For Sure

Yes, I missed the Dallas Cowboys not playing today--however we still bask in the Turkey Day win. Plus, I miss Iowa Hawkeye football until whatever bowl game they go to. Then is no Dancing With the Stars tomorrow night. Alas no more excuse to NOT mop floors and tidy up.

Oh well.

Sunday is bout done. And I'm tired. Yet the Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream in the fridge and something about a flower bloom in late November makes it all good.
I am blessed.

Donny Danced!

To win Dancing With The Stars Trophy! How cool is that? Plus, Donny sang, "Puppy Love"--a song I really did hate until Donny's voice changed! Kid you not.
I was sure of that after last night's free-style. It was Mya's trophy to lose, until the free-style. Kinda feel for her, yet not really. Kelly grew, and I admire that. I'm sure Daddy Ozzy was mush watching his baby girl grace across the floor.

But the night was for Osmonds and Osmonds only. Donny got his wife, Debbie, and her carried onto the floor. His kids. Sister Marie and who knows WHO else, surrounded them. Donny proved you can turn 52 on December 9, be a grandfather and out do two ladies that could be your daughters! Yep-it was Donny's night!

For me, to watch from the comfort of my own home. In my bed actually, under the covers in my purple jammies--instead of like yester-decade as a teenager, lingering in a service elevator-hours on end--just to catch a glimpse of an Osmond. As of tonight, I am more confident Donny ignores the AARP membership invites that turn up in the mail.

Just like I do.
Congrats to YOU, Donny!

Donny Does Dancing With the Stars

Before 1977 to Now 2009-LOVE IT!
Just give Donny Osmond the DWTS mirror trophy. He earned it.

In my opinion, Mya lost the competition during her free-style. As good of a dancer she is, I never warmed to Mya. It does make me wonder what Mya wanted to do that was so spectacular for the free-style? Wonder if she'll blame Dimitri for it? I think he had the roughest time with Mya--Dimitri should get a 10 for just that!

Nonetheless, Donny showed the young bucks how it's done. Kelly and Mya could have been his daughters--yet he hung right with them. Donny's moves why I continue to ignore membership invitations to join AARP.

Just give Donny the Dancing With the Stars Trophy. He WON it!

Dance Donny Dance!

Yes indeed--Donny Osmond is the Dancing With the Stars Finals! And last night, Donny's second dance was to the Osmond Brothers' (before Donny & Marie-waaaaay before) first number one single, "One Bad Apple." Donny was draped in purple, which any Osmond fan knows was Donny's favorite color--remember his purple socks?

Donny survives to dance again against the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne and a singer who was born, in 1979, right before the original Donny and Marie variety show was cancelled for the right hoist the tacky trophy only DWTS the could pull off.

Stay tuned.

Moment Monday

On Dancing With The Stars, I don't want Donny to go tomorrow. I'd be real OK if it were Joanna or Kelly. Mya is the best dancer---yet the Titanic would sink cuz of her. Elegant, yet an ice berg. Not feelin' love from her.

I'm tired. It's chilly. I may finally crack on my furnace. Cats make good heaters, plus they purr.

Yep, I am tired. Don't feel much like ramblin.

Hey,there is always tomorrow.

Say your prayers--He always listens.
