School Crush

Yep. A crush and I don't mean the fun, good, sweet kind of the object of your affection smiling at you in Geometry Class. Now, being older you wonder if he really smiled at you or wanted first dibbs on your Geometry home work? I digress.

My instructor in my current college class crushed me about my latest paper. Honestly, I felt GREAT about this paper. Enjoyed even to write it. Interviewed two folks who work in the human services field. I just KNEW my paper was gonna hit the bulls eye.

Wrong.

The instructor said my paper 'jumped all around" and my questions posed and their answers were 'not focused." I had to list my questions and evidently I soured the milk by not asking about their daily 'routine'--well, to me they explained what they did daily and I wrote about it. I will admit I about blew my top. Yes, I knew this a paper was of our own doing, however if she wanted us to ask particular things maybe she should have provided a list? Oh, and she said I had a 'poor intro'--and I thought it was GOOD. Reading is all in perception. Oh well.

I held it in. This is the LAST week of this class. I have another 1500 word paper of my own due Saturday, along with a 100 word contribution of my team I'm on. Also I will say, this class has been the most challenging--well, with the writing. And I consider myself a writer--a fiction one tho! My last two instructors required 700 words and occasionally 1000, and not every week. I guess this instructor wanted us to learn how to get it done. Maybe.

The papers have been my downfall. This class, especially, due to the new job going full throttle now, and oh yea, a dislike for writing non-fiction and really finding the time to write a 1500 word paper on whatever. This weeks paper will be about the United Nations. She gave us a list to pull from. I could just find an article, copy, paste, cite it and be done with it.
*sigh* Too honest I am. At least I felt good about one of these papers, so perhaps that IS a good sign.

What I've learned is, moving forward, I will try my best to jump head of writing the paper game. We know the due dates and subject, per the syllabus. These papers in this class, plus the extra stuff she's wanted us to do and work has wore me down--however this IS the last week of this class.

A new class starts June 8. Meanwhile I gotta cat curl after I get a dish of Blue Bell Vanilla n Cookies Ice Cream..
Stay tuned.

Monday Moan

....and no, Denzel Washington didn't knock on my door... ..

DRAT!

More like I put together our group paper for my college class. I admit I tried to get out of it, because I'd already done it before, plus this other team exercise we had to do. We all wrote our seperate parts and then it had to be put together in APA format--yep, that's I think to--APA, huh? The person who said she would do it, had a death in the family and the other teammate said she works until 4:30am, and besides she'd already done ONE. Whatever.

Then we had an online exam to take. 3 hours to take and it would time us, plus only one shot at it. So since I'm such a good student, I'd not read that much material. So open up another browser and do open book exam. Yep, my kinda exam...

Ya know where I'm going with this? Come question 9, as I looked up cross cultures in the workplace and its impact--I accidentally X'd me out of the exam
Done. Fini. OUT. I looked a big 0% for my score. There were 39 questions. I answered 9. I did leave a message for the instructor. It's 9:01pm as I type this. This class is officially over at 12:59AM. I start a new class tomorrow. The exam was worth 15 points. If I calculate it right, I could get a high C. Not what I wanted--but it taught me, I gotta really at least SKIM the material...

Oh and a cat barfed on the floor.
Moan, is right.

I'm on my way to watch my DVR of 'Dancing With the Stars' with a dab of Blue Bell Ice cream...

Ain't all bad.

Monday

OK. Yesterday it was about 72 degrees. Sun. Nice. GORGEOUS!
Today. Monday. 10 degrees cooler. North wind. Cloudy. Rain maybe.
Nonetheless, got thru the work day, plus
Got my college assignment in on TIME today. Found out
I have a 92.5 average--even with the yucky team project we did.
So the weather folks said the rain may start after 7pm tonight--
Right now it's 5:11pm--so I'm gonna put on my new tennyshoes and do a walk--
Oh wait, I saw my tire has a 'knot' sticking up--maybe I oughta get a new tire first, huh? :)

And since it's Monday and Mondays don't make a whole lotta sense, how 'bout a song that doesn't make much sense either, cuz "Louie, Louie" is MORE fun than a Monday....:)

Thrice Tuesday

Took the day off. Had a couple doctor appointments, including my coumadin check. I was three tenths above my range, yet not enough to change my dose. Although the pisser is, I gotta go back in two weeks for another check. That's what I get for not munching enough spinach. Oh well.

On to other things. Spoke with a college advisor today. Felt giddy afterward. I have college hours, which started out for teaching---I won't even tell you what year that was--or century--nonetheless, giddy was me. Stuff to look at and ponder. The advisor was filled with glee too, on how many hours I had. With his calculations, I'd need about 12 classes to complete this Associated of Applied Science Degree. So stay tuned.

Also I gave away three copies of the book I self published in 1998. While I was at the diagnostic place for my 6 month blood draw, I chatted with the girl doing the drawing about writing. Long story short, she said she'd like to read it. The two other ladies chirped they would too. So after all my errands, I stopped by the house for the books, then took them each a copy. The self published book--I could go on about that! For one, I didn't originally like the cover. I asked opinions between two covers. And I went with the one the they chose. After all this time, I'm still not liking the cover.

All in all, a good day. Have a glass of water to my left and this kitty snoozing on my desk.

Now, with Tom Delay to quit DWTS, does that mean Melissa Joan Hart or Debi Mazar won't go home tonight? I got the ice cream ready~
Stay tuned...

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
