More Jump

This morning, attempted to jump out of my bed, however when there are a neighborhood of cats glued to your legs--well, the circulation ain't what it should be! Nonetheless, finally made it up and ran a bit late to a planning meeting from the writers' conference I'm associated with. Great ideas and great gab. To think June 26th will be here before you know it!

Then I headed to see a chum of mine in a play "Song for Coretta"--about five women in line to pay their respects to the late Lady of Civil Rights. My chum, as well as the entire cast were great! So much talent my chum has. After the performance, the cast was in the lobby to meet and greet, and my chum told some folks there I was a writer--and my jaw dropped. I told them alittle bit about a one act play I wrote, then got the attention back to my chum. Nice, unexpected moment tho.

As I dallied thru some store, I heard a song I'd not heard in awhile. Got on YouTube and found the video, which I remembered. Makes me smile as I recall going out, dancin' and partyin' until the bar closed--now THAT would be novel! :)

And It Is...

Friday. Finally.

The Weekend to see if my Iowa Hawkeyes can go 10-0 on Saturday. Then can Tony Romo and Roy Williams, of the Dallas Cowboys connect ALOT against the Donovan McNabb and the rest of the Eagles Sunday Night?

I'll consider to scrub everything for top to bottom, throw stuff from a back bedroom and maybe even do a bit of writing on the novel I say I want to write...

Hmm.

To savor ice cream and pet a cat may win out. You know...priorities!

In the meantime, gotta cue this song I STILL love 30 years later cuz it is: WEEKEND!

Almost

Friday.
Yep, almost Friday.
Does any more need to be said?
Except I am glad
The weekend is about here
And I have enough money to buy
a cup o' joe at 7-11 in the mornin'
Thursday nights make you just
Feel the rush of
What is Friday...
Now a little I'd where I'd have happy feet
Dancing to back in the 80's. Still a catchy beat...
Almost Friday...

Finally Friday...

Tis the weekend.
Just glad.
Let's cut right to the chase
Cue up Three Dog Night
For a few moments to
Celebrate!
Don't get any better than this.
Always loved me some Cory Wells!

St Patrick's Day

Back in day--more like back in another century, I fast track to pubs and such after work to be a midst of major partake of a frosty beverage: green beer. Yep. Green beer ran over my taste buds. Had a phobia of drinking a green liquid (hey, I also don't care for green gelatin either), so I switched to green screwdrivers. More potent. At the time it made perfect sense! :) Oh, and of course, we just couldn't drink that much or that long, because after all--work tomorrow.

Whatever.

Pubs closed at 2 am. We'd leave at 2:05 am. Stop at fast food joint. Wait in line at the drive thru, behind others with the same idea. One time, as we waited our turn, the person I was with fell asleep behind the wheel. Only God's grace got us home, with our Jack in the Box egg rolls in tow.

Do I miss those days? At times, I do. Back in those sometimes stupid behaviour times, yet oh so quite fun and smilin' more of the time times. Memories everywhere.

And if a cat looks at you like this: pour the beer out..NOW.

On this St Patrick's Day 2009--be careful and be safe.

Next to the Last Day

Can you believe it?

2008 will soon be a vision in the rear view mirror. Does it seem possible? On this night before the BIG night, do you reflect of what's transpired in this year? Or do you wait to do that tomorrow--since that will be the BIG night? Do you ask chums what their plans are? Do you ask them if they remember the New Year's Eve where y'all were high school seniors and knew that the New Year would bring change like you never thought--graduation for one? Or were you just content to party then, with the entire town, in a chicken coop, drink lots of beer and dance to the high school guys rockin' in best garage band style? Does that memory make you smile to this day?

2008 ends tomorrow night. Can you believe it?

Right now--maybe not so much. Because today's episode of Young and the Restless still needs to be watched, plus a piece of fudge still needs to be savored, a cat still needs curl in your lap and purr, and then to top it all off--you still have a 7 AM phone interview before heading off to your current-and hope soon to exit because of a better opportunity-job.

As we head toward the finish line, 2008 still carries alot of generous, goodness and gracious weight.

You should like that.

Was going to walk tonight...

I planned to walk tonight. I NEEDED to walk tonight. However, I lugged my trash to the curb, because tomorrow is Trash Day, watched Dancing With the Stars, and scripted a rough draft of a letter.

Yep--a letter. A letter to an Oldies stations back in my Midwestern hometown. I informed them how my high school class, the Class of 76--the Bicentennial Bunch turns 50 this year. And we want to celebrate--a mini-reunion as it were. My class had a Two Year Reunion after high school. That was special--and now turning 50 is special too. The kicker is, I would love my fave rock band, Three Dog Night to perform. We have no money in our Class Kitty--so if we can pull this off, we need help. Hence, my letter to the radio station.

Even if the radio station says no--we'll still have a party. We'll still be together. At 50, like we were at 18. Were we all best buds? Oh of course, not--we were NOT Walton's Mountain. Yet we've all been down and up. Some of us left us too soon.

This party will be in their memory--of our past, of the present--and where ever our future leads us....We ARE the Class of 1976!

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
