November 4, 2008 was Tuesday

Once upon a time families were
Torn apart and a price
Put on their heads.

There were folks who forever had a dream-
And shouted it to millions
Far and near because one day...

There would be a day
When history
Looked upon a page from yesterday.

As he moved his own family in
a White House folks of the past
Broke their backs to build-

Folks voted for Change on this day a year ago.
Today some folks are still not happy.
Economy. War. Jon & Kate.
This family is in it for the long haul-
As were families of long ago
And so am I.
I remain optimistic.
That's why God graced us with patience.
History.

The Final Day of 2008

...and where will you be when the final minute ticks and 2009 begins? Will you be at a party where champagne is your new best chum, until your head pounds in the morning? Will you be alone with your significant other-just the two of you, as a toast is made to your future? Or will you be by yourself, perhaps a little melancholy because you're not doing the other two things and then to watch "When Harry Met Sally" for the billionth time makes you cry instead, of your usual smile, during its New Year's scene? Or are you in the place where you should be with the folks you're suppose to be with? As folks left work today, the answer to, "Where you goin' tonight?" was the chorus of "Church." Ha! When did Church become the place to party on New Year's Eve? The chorus sings, "When you know Who gave you the breath, the power, and the light to be blessed to see another year. " And now you're headed to the Watch Night for the New Year's Eve celebration at the Potter's House -aka- Church.
Just the place you oughta be.

Next to the Last Day

Can you believe it?

2008 will soon be a vision in the rear view mirror. Does it seem possible? On this night before the BIG night, do you reflect of what's transpired in this year? Or do you wait to do that tomorrow--since that will be the BIG night? Do you ask chums what their plans are? Do you ask them if they remember the New Year's Eve where y'all were high school seniors and knew that the New Year would bring change like you never thought--graduation for one? Or were you just content to party then, with the entire town, in a chicken coop, drink lots of beer and dance to the high school guys rockin' in best garage band style? Does that memory make you smile to this day?

2008 ends tomorrow night. Can you believe it?

Right now--maybe not so much. Because today's episode of Young and the Restless still needs to be watched, plus a piece of fudge still needs to be savored, a cat still needs curl in your lap and purr, and then to top it all off--you still have a 7 AM phone interview before heading off to your current-and hope soon to exit because of a better opportunity-job.

As we head toward the finish line, 2008 still carries alot of generous, goodness and gracious weight.

You should like that.

Sunday Standard...

Not a fan of Standard Time. It seems to be dark by noon. Exaggeration--sure. Yet I will need to make sure I'm up and done with my walk before nightfall. Jaunted around the Park up the street before the Dallas-NY Football Giants game.

Now I sit here after the Dallas-NY Football Giants game, with the sting of loss 35-14. Not good. At least the 3rd string QB came and added some zip. Just ick. I know this is why they play the game--but I'd like to have victories to talk about after they play the game. Not good.

What was good: the sermon I heard today. Visited Friendship West Baptist Church with Rev Freddy Haynes. He's a blunt, kinda get to the point kinda guy. I did like that. He preached how folks will judge you: they will categorize you then ostracize you, and stigmatize you to demonize you. As long as you have the peace of Jesus in you, folks can try their best, yet you are not phased. After service, I told Rev Haynes how that hit me, all around the block.

What also was good--that we just have two more days in this election. I know how I want it to end, but whether Barack Obama or John McCain wins, --I can't complain, because I voted. Did you early vote or will you be there Tuesday? Also the day God made today, was good--and no more earthquakes here. Heck, I slept through em on Friday and Saturday morning.

One week ago, TINA TURNER was in concert. I sat so in the nosebleed section, but I didn't care. A week all ready. This woman IS the Fountain of Youth. If Ms. Tina can't inspire you--nothing can. So to end this Sunday and get over my sorrow for the Cowboys loss--I gotta start out slow and easy...cue up the band, Tina's back in the house-cuz we gotta end this day rough...

Tis Friday and the Weekend!

You feel Joy:
--eventho it seems you don't have a dime in your pocket.
--eventho you tire, at times, of this historical presidential race.
--eventho you’ve gained some of the 70 lbs lost and kept off---until now.
--eventho a sinkful of dishes await attention, plus the mop for the floors.
--eventho you sit on your tuffet and wait if your story submissions are accepted.
--eventho you’re reminded of your heart surgery when the scar itches.
--eventho you can't phone Dad because it’ll be seven years gone Oct 18.
--eventho a cat decides to topple over a plant. Then stares at YOU!!
--eventho you got to wait till Sunday for da Boys to usher in the 2008 season.
--eventho not quite the party girl anymore-you still think of dancing' in September.
--eventho its not 1978 (and you’re happy it’s not) you are happy this music has stood time's test.
Cue the song.
