November 4, 2008 was Tuesday

Once upon a time families were
Torn apart and a price
Put on their heads.

There were folks who forever had a dream-
And shouted it to millions
Far and near because one day...

There would be a day
When history
Looked upon a page from yesterday.

As he moved his own family in
a White House folks of the past
Broke their backs to build-

Folks voted for Change on this day a year ago.
Today some folks are still not happy.
Economy. War. Jon & Kate.
This family is in it for the long haul-
As were families of long ago
And so am I.
I remain optimistic.
That's why God graced us with patience.
History.

Friday Splash

Rain overflowed any buckets it spilled into this morning. And as my usual nature, I slept throught it all. A chum e-mailed if I heard the thunder roar through. Thunder? Really? I swear, a tornado would rip through my neighborhood at night, and I'd wake up the next morning and fell a draft. Then I'd realize my roof was gone. Anyway, an autumn chill fills the air and I do have some windows open. Must be the Iowa still in me...

So, President Barack Obama is awarded the Nobel Prize. I didn't even realize he was up for one. And sounds like he didn't know either. :) Alas, this causes more uproar, that I'm sure FOX News will dedicate an entire evening to this ala the Death of Michael Jackson coverage. Ya know, I sure President Obama didn't realize he signed up for all this. Wonder if ever looks at Michelle and says, "Let's call U-Haul and head back to Chicago." Like I've mentioned before, if President Obama were about the sixth non-Caucasian president, all this broo-ha-ha wouldn't get so many hits on You Tube.

Jon and Kate....NEXT.

Began aerobics class last night. Put it off for a couple months. One of the youngest in the class, I am--literally. We did step aerobics, alot of kicks, punches, lift dumbbells and sit ups--I ACHE. In a good way, yet I ACHE just the same. Next class is Tuesday. Thought I was better in shape than I was...uh yea...that 74 ounces I drank yesterday? Probably sweat out about 73 ounces.

Main thing is, it is FRIDAY. All the rain this morning left puddles in some nothing but dirt parts of my yard, alas black water covered the land. So, of course made me think of one of the best bands ever: The Doobie Brothers and their version of a little "Black Water"...play a little funky little dixie land...cue it ALL up!

Headlines: Right Now-Obama and Biden

Doesn't ring my chimes.

I'm still into History being made. In my opinion, for the moment. History has stalled.

Why Joe Biden?

I'm sure he's a fine politics guy. Been in Washington since the '70's. But isn't he just a few years younger than John McCain? Is Joe Biden as much about "Change" as Barack Obama? Is he in touch with young folk of America? Is Joe Biden their hip grandfather? Or does he cater to that section of Americans, who remember how things use to be-for those folks who still won't even shake Barack Obama's hand?

Gotta tell you, I wanted Hillary as the VP. Dream Team. Scream Team--whatever their match would be called. THAT woulda been History. Change. Something not seen before.

Right now? Same ol' same ol'. Yawn.

Wouldn't it be something if John McCain's VP is from out side his party? Someone who would really rock the boat? Didn't think that was possible. Now I think otherwise.

Barack Obama, I've been in your corner. I'm not as confident as I was a couple days ago about you, Michelle and the girls, taking up residence in that house on Pennslvania Avenue. Right this minute, I ain't feelin' it. I hope I'm wrong.

By November, I'll overdose on articles, DVRs of George Stephanopoulos, and listen to all that's said about the Obama-Biden ticket. Gotta be shown why you two are Olympic Gold. Because right now, as I look at the replay of this presidential relay-you're close to the line--close to being disqualified.
Right now--alot of work to be done.

The View....Part II

I finally got around to watching my DVR of Michelle Obama on The View. I enjoyed her. She could be the next First Lady of the United States. I looked at her. Saw history. How far this country has come. How the press didn't know how to handle their reports about both a woman and a black man running for president. They STILL don't.

Michelle did her fist pump. Elisabeth Hasselbeck---how did she feel? I'm curious--do you think Elisabeth gets on folks nerves? Sweet as all get out---yet, I I kinda wanted her to get out. Did like her dress though. :)

Back to Michelle. The media has so changed. Could see Jackie Kennedy on a show like The View? When Jackie Kennedy was First Lady, Barbara Walters was trying to get her toe in the pool. Hmm.

Things do go round in a circle.

Headlines....What's Love Got to Do With It?

I watched a bit Meredith’s interview, this morning on Today, with a long-together married couple with children. To me, the couple were so into each other. They held hands. The way the wife gazed at her man. When the husband admitted he got embarrassed when she praised him, and cut her off. And when she repeated, ‘I am proud of you.” He beamed. They’ve been through a lot these past few months, including just recently. You knew the husband was tired of questions about clergy. The wife held her man’s hand throughout. That was nice.

Oh, and did I say the husband just happens to be running for president?

Barack and Michelle Obama. Good to them together. To talk. To share. I liked it.

Whatever happens in November, history’s paint is already over the pages.

A black man and a woman—two of most oppressed groups in our nation’s history—are on the cusp of holding the highest post in the land. A land, that once upon a time, sold his ancestors as if they were livestock. Forbid him to be a man. A land that still didn’t permit her vote until the 20th century and still doesn’t have a paycheck as much as her male counterpart.

History is being made.

Today, I saw a couple, despite their experiences-good and bad- are still into each other.

That was nice.

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
