It's 7:33 AM. I need to get on outta here for work in no later than 7 minutes. I have chills shoot thru my body. I stepped on the scale--three pounds gained--had to be the ice cream. I don't care--it'll melt off.

Today--the decision is made--finally.

Tonight--before we head to bed, we hope to have a new president

Tomorrow-regardless of outcome, a new History begins

Sunday Standard...

Not a fan of Standard Time. It seems to be dark by noon. Exaggeration--sure. Yet I will need to make sure I'm up and done with my walk before nightfall. Jaunted around the Park up the street before the Dallas-NY Football Giants game.

Now I sit here after the Dallas-NY Football Giants game, with the sting of loss 35-14. Not good. At least the 3rd string QB came and added some zip. Just ick. I know this is why they play the game--but I'd like to have victories to talk about after they play the game. Not good.

What was good: the sermon I heard today. Visited Friendship West Baptist Church with Rev Freddy Haynes. He's a blunt, kinda get to the point kinda guy. I did like that. He preached how folks will judge you: they will categorize you then ostracize you, and stigmatize you to demonize you. As long as you have the peace of Jesus in you, folks can try their best, yet you are not phased. After service, I told Rev Haynes how that hit me, all around the block.

What also was good--that we just have two more days in this election. I know how I want it to end, but whether Barack Obama or John McCain wins, --I can't complain, because I voted. Did you early vote or will you be there Tuesday? Also the day God made today, was good--and no more earthquakes here. Heck, I slept through em on Friday and Saturday morning.

One week ago, TINA TURNER was in concert. I sat so in the nosebleed section, but I didn't care. A week all ready. This woman IS the Fountain of Youth. If Ms. Tina can't inspire you--nothing can. So to end this Sunday and get over my sorrow for the Cowboys loss--I gotta start out slow and easy...cue up the band, Tina's back in the house-cuz we gotta end this day rough...

Still a Friday Thing

Just had to comment on a couple last things: promise.

First: John Does Dave--finally. Got around to watch my DVR of John McCain on Letterman from Thursday night. Um, yea. Give John McCain props on just to show up. Me thinks Dave bought John's answers as much I consider prunes snackfood. Which ain't much. Don't get how to know the G. Gordon Liddy tie-in is different from Barack Obama's 'palling around with terrorists?" Me personally, the William Ayers thing is such a stretch. Dave had John McCain right on. And I wish both presidential candidates would be on Dave at the same time. To dream.

Second: Saw a movie today which made me teary. Doesn't happen much, unless it's the one scene in 'Dumbo'--however, I digress. The title was "Express, the Ernie Davis Story." It was if the movie was for me and only me. See, I was the ONLY person in the theatre. The thing I missed most was a cat in my lap. Never heard of Ernie Davis, first Black man to win the Heisman Trophy. Go see it. This young man left a legacy that lives on to this day. Dennis Quaid redeemed himself as an actor to me. Good! Good!

Third: my next door neighbor, Julie and I chatted through the window. She invited me to a 'girl's night out' they have once a month. Very sweet to ask. Told her I was in for the night and would get them next time. That's the kinda stuff I like.

Earlier today, I walked the park and sat on my bench. Pondered where I was on those yesterdays, when I sat there. Then with the invite by the neighbor and comfort embrace of my cluttered bungalow makes me realized where I am this day and look so forward to tomorrow.

Time for the cat in the lap.

Finally Friday--It Better Be Good

Oh wow! What a week that has been had. We have the Dull Presidential Debate to Mrs. John McCain's announcement Barack Obama has slung the smear fest of all presidential campaigns. Hmm. Me thinks she and husband John McCain need to look in the mirror--then to the non-hallelujahs days at work-then to stepping on the doctor's scale and nearly have a stroke because their scale has SO more of my pounds than my bathroom scale--to being broke-to the wish I had a steady man to take out the trash-to the desire of my written words published-to relish in the purr of a cat-to the realization I have my own home, my health, great friends and that this history making presidential election will finally be over in three weeks--and above all that God watches me and He's made sure it's all ready done.

So on this Friday with the weekend at our fingertips, cue Ms. Tina Turner tellin' us all We Better Be Good...

Sarah and Joe's Debate Date

The Debate. Oh My. Well, let’s see. Joe wasn’t the pink Energizer Bunny and go on and on and on and on. However there were a times I wish Joe had spoken. Such as when Sarah Palin said her line about the ‘white flag of surrender.’ Or when she said Joe went back to the past, and needed to move forward. On the whole, Joe held his ground. I liked that. I admire him for keeping his mouth shut and not being a bully. Because, lets be real, if Joe had said something too strong to Sarah, I’m sure The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck would deemed him a bully.

As for Sarah Palin. OK—she didn’t flinch. No caribou in the headlights look for her. Yet, I tired of the pick at Obama (just as John McCain did), plus her down home folksy schmaltz such as “dog gone it” made my baby brown eyes roll. Also WHAT questions did Sarah actually answer? Asked what her Achilles’ heel was—uh, did she say? Also the word ‘maverick’ is so stale. If I were James Garner, star of the old TV Western, of the same name, I would ask the show’s name be legally changed to something else even though it was cancelled in 1962.

All in all: I so wish it had been Hillary against Sarah tonight. Then we would see who had the best lipstick. Since Hillary wasn’t there, I’ll go with how I’m still amazed how one party once made fun of the word ‘change’ and now that word is so much their drum beat. Once so eager to visit Alaska, now I’ll do it now if Sarah springs for coffee and dog gone it, show me Russia. As for Joe, I’ll let him spring for a coffee as we walk through his The Home Depot so I can hear for myself what folks think.

In the meantime, I will dvr Friday’s The View. Will this be the Whoopi makes Elisabeth cry? Will need to check the TV schedules to be sure SNL is on this week—because you know Tina Fey will not leave this alone.

Gotta love it.

The Debate. Palin. Biden. Oh my. After the blow up on The View yesterday---what will happen tomorrow after this debate is seen by all?

John McCain and Jerry Lewis...

What do they have in common? I do not know, except I watched them both on my TV, right after the other. For John McCain, I sat through his visit on The View. As for Jerry Lewis I revisited “Boeing, Boeing’—his 1965 movie with Tony Curtis. I sat uncomfortable as I watched both.

First John McCain. How many times did he repeat how he prayed each day? I would be more impressed if he mentioned it just once or twice. I do believe John McCain expected his visit to be a cozy gab fest. Barbara and Whoopi thought otherwise. Joy held her own, as Elisabeth just beamed, while Sherry remained silent. Gotta love Whoopi’s question if Sarah Palin would be a better VP than, say, John Adams, since John McCain said Sarah Palin was the best VP ever. Then Whoopi inquired slavery should be worried about. Since John McCain wanted those that would interpret the Constitution how the found fathers did. Hmm. All good in theory, however those 230 something years ago, those founding fathers owned people they felt rated less than a whole man and/or a beast of burden, plus women had no rights. Uncomfortable for me because I thought Barbara and Whoopi were ready to do a little WWF Smackdown—if they so could—at any minute.

Jerry Lewis. OK—ya know, I admit, when I was around ten years old, I wanted to marry this guy. You’re asking, “Huh?” Yea, I did. There was something about him, I found attractive at such a young age. I’d sit in our town’s moving picture show every time one of Jerry’s movies came out. I didn’t quite fathom that he and Dean Martin were no longer a team. I just knew Dean wasn’t always in the movies with Jerry. Anyway, in Boeing, Boeing, Jerry starred with hunky Tony Curtis. Shoulda been Dean Martin, however, I digress-Tony had the best lines. Jerry had some, but he was more the straight man. More subdued—so different than roles past. I wondered what went thru Jerry’s mind at the time. How did he feel about having an equal billed male co-star that wasn’t Dean Martin? Uncomfortable for me, because as full of fluff as this movie was, I watched every minute. And enjoyed what I watched every minute of.

Sarah Palin's Interview

Charlie Gibson was selected to conduct Sarah Palin's first interview. Wonder if the McCain camp thought Charlie would be a protective, cuddly older brother?

Wrong.

Not quite a pit bull. Yet Charlie tried to get Sarah to straight forward answer things. Her comment of being able to see Russia from the coast of Alaska--to me, Charlie's response was priceless. All in all, not that impressed with Sarah's interview. Her lack of play in the big leagues, maybe? Maybe John McCain should have found her sooner? Look how Barack Obama improved over time--yet he had Hillary Clinton as his sparring partner. Back to Sarah, give her props, she keep eye to eye with Charlie.

On the section of interview I saw this evening (the next part will be on 20/20, I think) when Sarah Palin said Barack Obama may be now regret his VP choice.

Gotta respect her opinion. Because I wonder too, eventho Barcak Obama didn't look too regretful on Letterman Wednesday night.

By the morning of November 5th we should all know for sure.

Yes, I watched Sarah Palin..

I am a Democrat. And I watched some of the Republican Convention.

Tried to watch President Bush's speech, the other night. I couldn't hang in there until the end. I'm sorry if he's your guy. He wasn't/isn't mine. All I remember about him being governor was George W Bush running for president.

I digress.

Back to Sarah. Hey, I gotta give her props. Such calm in front of millions. Confidence, humor. Gotta say I was impressed with her. Loved the line about the hockey Moms, pit bulls and lipstick. Her pledge to be an advocate for special needs folks. Liked that too--since I guess, with microtia--I might considered special needs nowadays. All this came natural for her. Like I said, give the Republican VP nominee her due.

John McCain made a good choice in Sarah Palin. She's gives his campaign a much needed spark. Let's face it--one drop of water could douse whatever spark that did exist. Now, my personal thought--and this is just my personal thought--and this is my blog-Sarah Palin did dig deep and hard at their opponents. At times, I felt she was petty--with the healing the world and water comment. Then about the pillars her opponents had on stage. Hmm. I guess the Republicans aren't booked into the Metrodome? Did bother me when Sarah Palin said "victory' was at hand in Iraq--and her opponent wanted to forfeit.

OK--I didn't get that forfeit part. I think bringing our service men and women home ASAP is important, should not be considered a forfeit. Also didn't Republican President Bush stand on the USS Abraham Lincoln (who had a little something to do with the Emancipation Proclamation) on May 1, 2003 and announce "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq? But now, in 2008, we're close to victory? To me the President signaled something had ended.

Wrong.

All in all very good speech. Will be some kind of fight until November 4, 2008. Oh, and can't you just see Maya Rudolph, or even Tina Fey doing a good Sarah Palin on SNL?

However did Sarah Palin's speech do enough to sway me?

No.

....and there's John McCain

who picks Alaska's Sarah 'Barracuda' Palin. WOW. Of course, the 'wow' comes after 'who?' Is it true John McCain only met her once? I honestly thought Mitt Romney would be the Republican VP choice. Hmm. The story is interesting: mom to 5 kids, hunter, and called a 'maverick'. I've yet to hear Sarah Palin speak, but then I've not had the TV on either. I do hear CNN chant my name.

The Republicans begin their convention Monday, in the Twin Cities. Believe me, I will watch. To learn. To compare. And ask: do the Republicans have the Metrodome booked for John McCain's acceptance speech?

My opinion is, John McCain did the same thing Barack Obama did. Chose someone so unlike themselves. Just look at age, for one: Barack Obama could be one of Joe Biden's sandlot slugger's. While Sarah Palin could be the daughter John McCain walked to kindergarten. Both candidates chose a person they hope, compliments them. In the end, the presidential nominees desires their VP pick to help bring folks out for the vote. In January 2009, John McCain and Barack Obama want to be sure the U-Haul rolls up to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

In 67 days we'll know---withOUT aid of the Supreme Court.

I'm still into History being made. In my opinion, for the moment. History has stalled.

Why Joe Biden?

I'm sure he's a fine politics guy. Been in Washington since the '70's. But isn't he just a few years younger than John McCain? Is Joe Biden as much about "Change" as Barack Obama? Is he in touch with young folk of America? Is Joe Biden their hip grandfather? Or does he cater to that section of Americans, who remember how things use to be-for those folks who still won't even shake Barack Obama's hand?

Gotta tell you, I wanted Hillary as the VP. Dream Team. Scream Team--whatever their match would be called. THAT woulda been History. Change. Something not seen before.

Right now? Same ol' same ol'. Yawn.

Wouldn't it be something if John McCain's VP is from out side his party? Someone who would really rock the boat? Didn't think that was possible. Now I think otherwise.

Barack Obama, I've been in your corner. I'm not as confident as I was a couple days ago about you, Michelle and the girls, taking up residence in that house on Pennslvania Avenue. Right this minute, I ain't feelin' it. I hope I'm wrong.

By November, I'll overdose on articles, DVRs of George Stephanopoulos, and listen to all that's said about the Obama-Biden ticket. Gotta be shown why you two are Olympic Gold. Because right now, as I look at the replay of this presidential relay-you're close to the line--close to being disqualified.

Right now--alot of work to be done.

Wednesday...

Rain in Dallas. Temperatures no higher than the 80's today. Off to work....Well, two outta three ain't bad.

I'm blessed to have a job. I realize that. Think more and more of the ministry God has for me--just wish I knew what it was! :) I know I need to make sure the mortgage is paid, the car payment and kitty litter in tow.

Doing more writing of late. Sent a submission to Guideposts, the other day, plus a photo to another magazine. Will be working on another story today at work--

So the VP's are to be announced soon....of course, nobody asked me--so I'll wait patiently to see if John McCain picks a pro-choice Democrat and see if Barack Obama doesNOT pick Hillary Clinton.

Was that Marie Osmond on a Nutri System commercial? Indeed it was. Honestly, as much I adore Queen Latifah--her "Size Something" Jenny plugs--don't ring true to me. I hope those commercials are changed up some how.

Harvey Korman passed away at 81. I loved when Harvey would break up while Tim Conway kept a straight face. They were priceless before Mastercard ever said it. .

So all the kids will be permited back to their home at the polygamists' Texas ranch. I wonder how the kids, especially the older ones feel now after experiencing a life on the outside. Calling Dr. Phil.

I have to buy gas tomorrow-I'm on fumes: $ 3.85. WHY? Was it that long ago, I fathomed gas couldn't go over a dollar. Are you driving as much as you use to?

Clay Aiken and 50 year old music producer, Jaymes Foster, are pregnant. Artificial insemination. As long as they're happy. Next.

At the half the Spurs lead Kobe and his group, the Lakes in the NBA Western Conference final...the Mavericks aren't there--I won't quite say NEXT, because Michael Finley of the Spurs, was a member of my church while in Dallas.

Don't you think Barack, Hillary and John all wish this election was over? I do.

In the meantime, I need to watch my soap, The Young and Restless, savor some tingle teeth cold watermelon and praise God for this life.

John McCain and 2013....

So----the troops should be home by 2013? Granted it's not 100 years....yet why they can't they be home NOW? Iraq is this generation's Vietnam. I respect the men and women, doing what they're called to do. I pray for their families. I pray for us. The troops need to come home.
