Rain overflowed any buckets it spilled into this morning. And as my usual nature, I slept throught it all. A chum e-mailed if I heard the thunder roar through. Thunder? Really? I swear, a tornado would rip through my neighborhood at night, and I'd wake up the next morning and fell a draft. Then I'd realize my roof was gone. Anyway, an autumn chill fills the air and I do have some windows open. Must be the Iowa still in me...
So, President Barack Obama is awarded the Nobel Prize. I didn't even realize he was up for one. And sounds like he didn't know either. :) Alas, this causes more uproar, that I'm sure FOX News will dedicate an entire evening to this ala the Death of Michael Jackson coverage. Ya know, I sure President Obama didn't realize he signed up for all this. Wonder if ever looks at Michelle and says, "Let's call U-Haul and head back to Chicago." Like I've mentioned before, if President Obama were about the sixth non-Caucasian president, all this broo-ha-ha wouldn't get so many hits on You Tube.
Jon and Kate....NEXT.
Began aerobics class last night. Put it off for a couple months. One of the youngest in the class, I am--literally. We did step aerobics, alot of kicks, punches, lift dumbbells and sit ups--I ACHE. In a good way, yet I ACHE just the same. Next class is Tuesday. Thought I was better in shape than I was...uh yea...that 74 ounces I drank yesterday? Probably sweat out about 73 ounces.
Main thing is, it is FRIDAY. All the rain this morning left puddles in some nothing but dirt parts of my yard, alas black water covered the land. So, of course made me think of one of the best bands ever: The Doobie Brothers and their version of a little "Black Water"...play a little funky little dixie land...cue it ALL up!

Write Time
Jaunt to my writers' group today. We call our group: Honor the Words, which came from the fiction workshop at a community college we all attended at the same time. Not knowing each other. Our instructor informed us when all is said and done, all we have left are words, so we must honor them.Once the the class ended, a few of us wanted to stay in contact and continue writing. So our Honor the Words group was born! Our success has been minimal, yet we have experienced some. No JK Rowling or Dan Brown success among us---yet. However, one of the member's work is in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Twins. We're all very proud of her. Alas, for whatever reason, excuse, we're not writing as we should. We are not following Habakkuk 2:2 as we should. In that sense, a cloud of frustration drapes us.
Although, there is always a ray of sunshine in everything. In our case, it is our senior member who is a year or two from 80 years young. Feisty woman who holds a PhD and has done just about everything except jump from a plane. Devout Catholic who switched from the Republican Party to Democrat. In fact she's the one who gave me the Elect Obama signs for my yard! Our member has been hooked in an adventure with with Stage 4 breast cancer since early this year. When you watch and remain in her presence, you realize how you wanna be when you grow up.
So yea, I'm not happy about my writing endeavors of late. However, I am happy of the endeavor God has put into me for Honor the Words.
I am blessed.

Thirsty Thursday and David Cassidy Too
Three thirsts on my mind.
First, looks like my lawn will get a good drink tonight. Clouds darken. It's a cool 85 degrees, plus I watered my own insides with my daily 74 ounces o' water. Stood full throttle on the scale this morning. Smiled because the number was alittle smaller. Now, I've not dropped all this weight. Nope, I'm honest, I've been quite lax in my exercise routine. So things haven't happened as quick as I'd like. I have cut out candy--notany peanut M & Ms is tough. Hmm. I may need to go back to what I did before--just munch a couple from a bag. Just to get a taste. That's how I weaned myself from taking on an entire pint of Blue Bell--which is the best ice cream in the land. Well, maybe in the south anyway. I still savor my Blue Bell--just not as much of it. There are some things I am NOT going without!
Another thirst is health reform. Since I've had this pesky little open heart surgery and must take a daily dose of coumadin, my health has taken on a whole new meaning, especially too, because I want my own business. I listened to President Barack Obama last night. I liked what he said. What bothers me is all the junk others are saying. Ya know my deal is, none of us know HOW this thing is gonna work. You can throw charts, grafts, labels of socialism and the cow jumped over the moon, yet NOBODY really knows how it will fare. What I like, somebody IS trying to do something about it. Stay tuned.
And my last thirst? The guilty pleasure of watching "Ruby and the Rockits" on ABCFamily Channel. The show itself--yea, well--I'm not 13, until I David Cassid pops on the screen OK--the guy will be be 60 on April 12. I can still see that 70's Keith Partridge shag he had. I do wish David were in the show more. Alas, it's not all about David, but Ruby. *sigh* Yes, his brother Patrick is attractive and looks so much like his mom, Shirley Jones--who appears next week shows up to meet the granddaughter she didn't know she had. My DVR will be ready! :)
To wrap all this up, it's Thursday and still summer, so cue up a 70's David Cassidy to remind us about Summer Days. And after that? A few spoonfuls of Blue Bell Strawberry Cheesecake beckon me as I watch a bit of the first game of the NFL season--just to tie me over until the REAL game on Sunday: Dallas and Tampa Bay...Thirst ON!

Friday Frost
Three columns in the Dallas Morning News caught my eye.
President Barack Obama is to speak to the school age children soon. I didn't realize how big a deal this was until yesterday. Is it like this everywhere? OK-so the White House messed up on some lesson plans and/or question--however COME ON. Other presidents have spoken in front of school kids while garble being hurled at them up until they did so.
I guess I don't really get it because President Obama, nor any of the former presidents, said to go start wild fires to burn up California or steal somebody's lunch's money--nope--just stay in school and do well--so I'm lost. Part of me wants to use the race card--because everything the President does is so scrutizined-which I've endured all my life. President Obama doesn't look like any of the others presidents on the schools' walls. Some folks still don't like that. Alas, I wonder how much those same folks wouldn't like if he sat in the White House and did so much less than he is now?
Even if some of the President's actions winde up being futile--at least he tried. He didn't get us in this mess--He's trying to get us out. The bad part is--it'll take awhile. And I'm impatient too--just like everybody else.
I also know folks (even tho I'm close too) mutter 'nigger' under their breath about President Barack Obama. They just don't know and possibly afraid of whatever eats them up. I'm sure of being compared to Hitler, socialist, and whatever else, 'nigger' is being used too. I'm kinda curious what folks hurled about the first Catholic president who announced man should land on the moon before decade's end. What they did call him? It's sad.
Yet I have faith as steps taken forward fall back.
The beauty is you can always move forward again.
