Saturday There Abouts...

This was the view from a window this morning. Chill came back to the Dallas after days of 70 degree weather. I headed off to meet up with dear chums for my Writers' Group. Although we gabbed about the world around us, sipped tea and munched brownies, we did take on writing.
My chums encouraged me more on the re-do I want to do with the one and only book I wrote--and self published, back in yester-century. Although, the story is a work of fiction, most events are true. I've started a re-do several times, yet nothing so sticks. I wonder first person or third person or if I am just being too hard on myself.
On of my other chums has the same issue with a story of hers. It really happened, yet feels it may be better as third person, yet she finds herself wanting to first person.
I think I just made my decision.
Just something about being first.
Stay tuned.

Tuesday Too Good

Hey--that is how I feel because the Fall Semester is officially OVER! I just took two classes, yet it seemed like 20. The backstory behind this semester stressed me to know end. To cut to the chase I transferred schools. I had left over financial aid money which I thought would go to the new school. No problem I thought.

Wrong. The schools wound up not being on the same funding schedule. It turned in to, "You should have done this." "You should have done that." And my response was, "When I called in for status, nobody told me a thing.'

Long story in all this: I had NO financial aid to pay for my few thousand US dollars of tuition.

Fiction would not have been better than this truth.

Cut to the chase after being shut off from online access, dozens of e-mails to figure how to get out of this, calls to the Dept of Education for help and decline of more student loans--which I didn't want to take out anyway--to pay for the Fall Semester--I paid out of my own pocket.

The shock in that I saved enough. The money was for something else, yet I found I could replenish the amount for the something else-if I need to.

Best part is, the Fall Semester is OVER. This nightmare is DONE. I will not worry about school until January 2012. Burden off my shoulders. Gives me some time concentrates on things that I only part time attention to--besides a cat.

Stay tuned.

And then....

It's Saturday
Feel like staying in bed.
I mean, doesn't this kitty's eyes pretty much speak it?

Alas I must rise. Do wanna get errands do before before the sun bakes us. In fact, there's a play in Ft Worth I want to see. A guy, I kinda know, is the male lead. Well, he's the only male in it. Of course, in my spoiled only child way, I don't want to see WAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the theatre. Now forget there's only 100 or so seats in the theatre, so how bad can the seats really be?

Other stuff on tap today too. I have a writing schedule of non-fiction stuff for school and FUN fiction stuff. Stay tuned on all that. I'm enjoying the FUN fiction stuff. The set up is sorta changed from what I had before. Plus, I realize I need to jot the notes down of my changes--because--well, I can't remember them. Guess I'm not as Supergirl as I thought!

And then
Coconut cream pie and a cup o coffee will
May just be on the Saturday playlist too.

Write Time

Jaunt to my writers' group today. We call our group: Honor the Words, which came from the fiction workshop at a community college we all attended at the same time. Not knowing each other. Our instructor informed us when all is said and done, all we have left are words, so we must honor them.

Once the the class ended, a few of us wanted to stay in contact and continue writing. So our Honor the Words group was born! Our success has been minimal, yet we have experienced some. No JK Rowling or Dan Brown success among us---yet. However, one of the member's work is in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Twins. We're all very proud of her. Alas, for whatever reason, excuse, we're not writing as we should. We are not following Habakkuk 2:2 as we should. In that sense, a cloud of frustration drapes us.

Although, there is always a ray of sunshine in everything. In our case, it is our senior member who is a year or two from 80 years young. Feisty woman who holds a PhD and has done just about everything except jump from a plane. Devout Catholic who switched from the Republican Party to Democrat. In fact she's the one who gave me the Elect Obama signs for my yard! Our member has been hooked in an adventure with with Stage 4 breast cancer since early this year. When you watch and remain in her presence, you realize how you wanna be when you grow up.

So yea, I'm not happy about my writing endeavors of late. However, I am happy of the endeavor God has put into me for Honor the Words.

I am blessed.

Rain Part II

Another storm brews, yet I'm about to leave my bungalow to help a chum set up for her writers' conference tomorrow. And to think I have two co-workers who still do NOT have power from Wednesday's storm! Might get it back by Sunday or sometime next week! And of course, it's suppose to maybe be in the triple digits this weekend. Say a prayer for them!

As for me, I gotta get out of the house to help my chum. However, before I do-with this rain, I think of folks who have tried to--well, rain all over me. Act as if they support me, even encourage-yet really they don't. Try to lower me to their not as confident state. That hurts because, my feelings for them are genuine. Yet they choose, and so must I.

Yet, their hating only strengthens my trust as I look unto the hills for where my help really comes from.

So to get on with this Friday, we are set to cue up Barbra Striesand! WHAT? Yep, doing a little Broadway, as Babs tells us to not rain on her parade!

I second that emotion.

Enjoy!

Get By

Did lunch with my best friend, Bingo today. Known each other since we were 12. Yea--she'll tell you in a minute how many years that is. I usually decline. Chowed on tasty Chinese Cuisine. Settled in for a good long over due girl chat. Which may or may not be such a good thing.

Naw. It was all good. Our journey has been long, so being blunt is --well--part of us. She got on me about my writing. Like why am I not doing more of it? Why don't have more of it out there? And the you should be making money from it! Bingo said the last story she read was one of my best, even tho there any dead people, Jesus or cats in it. :)

OK--you can laugh. Even tho Bingo says my last story about Jesus moved her, it's OK to write something else, because He's OK with it. The dead people are my parents--and she says it's great I want to write about them, yet they really understand too. And cats? Bingo loves cats too, yet we can let cats cat nap awhile.

The last short story Bingo spoke of had a shape shifter in it. A woman morphed in a honey colored grizzly. Nobody died. Jesus didn't show up (well, as far as we know!) and no cat anywhere near. Bingo actually gave me the story idea from a movie we saw, so back in the 70's, which had a killer grizzly in it. We laughed alot at that movie--I digress.

So Bingo says: What is your problem? Why do you get so far and just stop? Why do you talk great stuff, tweak too much and still just stop? Then start up with something else but stop with that? Fear of Failure? Fear of Success? You have a gift, why aren't you using it? What is it?

I had no response, except to say she's right--- again. Then Bingo cuts to the quick even more-- friends DO that--the real ones anyway--says, "Why are you depriving others from your writing? You don't know who you've touched or who you may touch!"

Bingo gave me that look.

I get by with a little help from my friends.

I am blessed.
