Sunday Connect

Got my Praise on today. That was a good thing. Pastor Rickie Rush, of Inspiring Body of Christ Church, spoke of re-connecting. How love isn't so much a feeling as it is a choice. Made me think about Bear.

Why? Well, Bear was the last man I spoke serious "let's get married" with. At that time, tho--Bear announced we could move back to Iowa, live off 30 grand between us, and write to our hearts content. Live like Bohemians, he said. Honestly, my Dad was in the last few months of his life, and Bear knew how close my Dad and I were. In addition, Bear was also from the Midwest--yet, I knew the "let's get married" thing wasn't gonna happen. I recall asking him if he was drunk or high. :) What I'm getting at is the choice of love--I think we both made a choice in that area. So today, just like clock work--as the hundreds, of folks came into the church, Bear and I ran into each other.

He was talking to someone, so I just extended my hand to shake his, as I walked into the sanctuary. Well, Bear took my hand and pulled me towards him. I had one foot off the floor, because it took me by surprise, as Bear pulled me into a bearhug. In way, it was a re-connect, even tho we'd both made choices elsewhere.

A chum of mine had suggested writing a story of a past relationship that's hard to put down. The one with Bear would be a prime candidate. However, I have a couple stories just screaming to get out. And as the late, great E Lynn Harris said, if we don't write what's eating us up, it'll mess up our life! I do believe that!

The story with Bear--not sure I'd make the choice of a happy ending or not. Dependes on the degree of re-connect.

Stay tuned.

Rain Part II

Another storm brews, yet I'm about to leave my bungalow to help a chum set up for her writers' conference tomorrow. And to think I have two co-workers who still do NOT have power from Wednesday's storm! Might get it back by Sunday or sometime next week! And of course, it's suppose to maybe be in the triple digits this weekend. Say a prayer for them!

As for me, I gotta get out of the house to help my chum. However, before I do-with this rain, I think of folks who have tried to--well, rain all over me. Act as if they support me, even encourage-yet really they don't. Try to lower me to their not as confident state. That hurts because, my feelings for them are genuine. Yet they choose, and so must I.

Yet, their hating only strengthens my trust as I look unto the hills for where my help really comes from.

So to get on with this Friday, we are set to cue up Barbra Striesand! WHAT? Yep, doing a little Broadway, as Babs tells us to not rain on her parade!

I second that emotion.

Enjoy!

Saturday Celebration

Had my first Tricks or Treats last night. First time I really had kids knock on my door for Halloween. Living in a apartment, I had about two goblins in the entire 20 years of multi-unit dwelling. Every time the doorbell rang--the cats ran. Sometimes the cats would be in windows, and I could hear the kids talk about them. Next time, I may decorate, heck I might even get a PUMPKIN!

Speaking of Pumpkin, I headed to Mansfield, TX, which seemed like a whole 'nother time zone from my door, in my HHR Pumpkin(with wonderful gas mileage, by the way!) A panel of authors, including one I knew, spoke. Turns out today is National Author's Day. Good forum. Uplifted me. Where my writing comes into play--I just need to write--more.

Did lunch with Movie Man. He cheered me up today. I've been so down in the dumps professionally. Said he hadn't seen me smile in recent times. All that was nice. Just a perk me up.

Happy Cloris Leachman is off Dancing With the Stars. Happy this historical presidential election rounds the final curve. Just hope the Supreme Court does not get involved. Happy the Dallas Cowboys get another crack at a win tomorrow...yea, well, we gotta really pray on that one. Happy I got stuff on my DVR to watch, a cat to pet, some ice cream to savor and a life to live.

Cue Kool and the Gang, for a little Celebration....hmm....there was time I'd dance to this song with my four inch heals. Now, if I'd try that, I sprain my ankle on the way to breaking my leg. But ya know what? Cue 'em anyway! :)

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
