Write Up!

Met up with my Honor the Words Writers' Group today. Just what the Maya Angelou in me needed. Support. Encouragement. Laughter along with yummy coffee cake and pumpkin spice flavored coffee!

OK, my group members are in the midst of critiquing my one and only book, which I self published, in yester-century. An eye opener of an experience because things they said I should include/exclude are the same things I fought with myself those years ago. I knew, in yester-century, not all my written words sounded quite right, yet I had no clue why they did not. Thanks to my group, I do now.

My group helped me realize how words can be and are powerful. Especially if a pesky dangling participle does not litter up your sentence!

Good day indeed...

A Bit

Of time is all I'll spend here tonight....
It seems like alot has happened since we last met up and first I've started my newest college class--this one is about a human's life span. Might kinda cool and creepy, because we're pretty much talking about ourselves. One of my assignments will be to observe people in different points of their lives--like my first one is for babies--yea, this is going to be interesting.

Saturday is going to be an interesting day by far, and it's all pretty local, unlike going to Oklahoma City last week! I'm going to a bible study that morning. What's a kicker about that, well--it's on Saturday, and I'll be meeting with girls I haven't worked with 2003. We've kept in touch, yet I never once thought we'd hang out talk about the bible. Glad we are tho.

Then once that's done, I head to my writers' group. I've written nothing fiction in I don't how long. The college papers have wasted me. I need to find time to really put pen to paper, and not just for moment or two. That will be another nice time of fellowship along with some writing stuff...

Then--I don't know if this is still on tap--another chum is to have a CD signing party later on that night. I've not heard anymore plans about it. He's got a nice voice, so I hope it happens. If not--well, I'll be home curled up with a cat...or

Get another chum to go see "Wall Street" with me.

Yep. Saturday. Looking forward to you. Gotta enjoy Thursday and Friday tho before, even tho professionally--things do stink, however I won't let the stench steal my joy...

Not even for a bit.

Write Time

Jaunt to my writers' group today. We call our group: Honor the Words, which came from the fiction workshop at a community college we all attended at the same time. Not knowing each other. Our instructor informed us when all is said and done, all we have left are words, so we must honor them.

Once the the class ended, a few of us wanted to stay in contact and continue writing. So our Honor the Words group was born! Our success has been minimal, yet we have experienced some. No JK Rowling or Dan Brown success among us---yet. However, one of the member's work is in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Twins. We're all very proud of her. Alas, for whatever reason, excuse, we're not writing as we should. We are not following Habakkuk 2:2 as we should. In that sense, a cloud of frustration drapes us.

Although, there is always a ray of sunshine in everything. In our case, it is our senior member who is a year or two from 80 years young. Feisty woman who holds a PhD and has done just about everything except jump from a plane. Devout Catholic who switched from the Republican Party to Democrat. In fact she's the one who gave me the Elect Obama signs for my yard! Our member has been hooked in an adventure with with Stage 4 breast cancer since early this year. When you watch and remain in her presence, you realize how you wanna be when you grow up.

So yea, I'm not happy about my writing endeavors of late. However, I am happy of the endeavor God has put into me for Honor the Words.

I am blessed.

So Saturday

Had my HTW Writers' (aka Critique Group) Meeting today. The HTW stands for "Honor The Words." Our encouragement, conversation and laughter tangoed through the air! We're all excited since a member will be part of a new Chicken Soup for the Soul. This is for Twins (which she is) and other other multiples. We kidded her how she owes us our fee for critiquing it! Her story was picked to be one of only 101 chosen for this Chicken Soup! We hope by our next meeting she may have a copy of it--which goes on sale March 10.

As for me. It's Saturday. Gorgeous day. Still coming down from the chocolate pecan ice cream pie buzz I had at our meeting. My gut tells me I need to take an avid interest to get back on my diet. Indeed, love yourself at all costs, however even I'm not keen of hips wide enough to show a double feature. :)

Nonetheless, a wonderful day. Took me back to a time in 1976, when Saturday Nights meant to shag the drag (Happy Days was BIG then, so we had 50's lingo), mingle with chums and drink g Pabst Blue Ribbon (we were legal then). Ya know, the important stuff.

Cue up a corny, but make ya smile kind of song: Bay City Rollers and : S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y Night!
