Resolution Run Down

Yes, I drank my 74 ounces of water today. And I also told a couple chums one of my 20101 is:

Not to make the excuses of others justify why I don't do something.

For me, to follow my dreams aka to work on the gifts He gave me. This means alot. As much as I love my chums, I did/do make their excuses justify mine. I've not utilized my time well, especially when it comes to writing, because of this action. Can't change the past, yet I can make a difference for today and tomorrow. Chums' excuses assisted my self doubts to grow. Those doubts lead me to the nearest plate of dee-lishus fried onion rings instead of sliced fresh onions to waltz on my salad topped with Roasted Red Pepper Vinegarette salad dressing. One is dee-lish-US, while the other is dee-lish-US-y good for you. It can work.

Tis my main resolution. Hang tuff with that, I got it made.

Gotta put the trash by the curb and will do my best to leave some self doubt there too!

How about you?

Psst...hang with me while I put a photo of cutie pie, Dallas Cowboy Miles Austin! This guy, along with # 24 Marion Barber, have my heart. Dallas Cowboys shut out the Philadelphia Eagles 24-0 yesterday. And I think the same outcome can happen on Saturday night as they battle in the Wildcard game. Stay tuned!

Way I Like It

Found out the Iowa Hawkeyes are #13 in the polls! How COOL is that? Not sure when the last time they were that high--will need to research--plus keep it going. GO HAWKS!

Tonight is DVR duty! Dancing With The Stats will get the DVR, while I watch the Dallas Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Granted, I'll flip back and forth, however is the BEST TV view problem to have. As for DWTS, I read what Aaron Carter to say in an interview. Now, I didn't hear it, so I can't judge if he was in joke mode. However after one week, Aaron Carter he says he'll win DWTS. OK. Sure, he might. Yet the problem I have right now, is I had to take a look at his picture to even remember him from last week. I do recall Aaron was pretty good, however we got alot of season to go.

As for my Dallas Cowboys--oh man. Just WIN and make it a SOLID WIN. Just because Carolina Panthers are 0-2, doesn't mean they can't get some hot streak goin'. Got my fingers crossed. If my Marion Barber can't play, s'ok Felix Jones and/or Tashard Choice can step up and cross the goal line too.

So before I plant myself in front of the TV, with a cat in my lap and bowl of Blue Bell Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream in hand, must put out the trash, relish in the fact I downed my 74 ounces of water, and cue up a little KC and the Sunshine Band. Why? Because that's the way I like it, especially on a Monday!

Round About

Made it through the first night of Dancing With the Stars. Donny Osmond did pretty good, especially by winning this Relay Dance. Also Mark the Iron Chef and the Boxer Guy. I can't remember his name, but he's my dark horse. It was good to see Hall of Fame Former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin, yet I think for the moment, he's got a bum deal. Michael's dance partner is new to the show and needs to put more DANCE into Michael's dances. He just seem to stand there and not do much. All in all, I enjoyed the show and predict Ashley Hamilton will be the one to get the boot.

We wait to hear on Marion Barber. He may have pulled a hamstring in Sunday's game, and not sure when he'll be back. I'm not liking that. Tony Romo takes responsibility for losing the game--his three interceptions didn't help. Some of the dee-fense lacked too. Only one game, but STILL...

Stepped on the scale--full force. A few pounds are gone. I need to step up my exercise routine. I'm doing lots better on the calorie counts. No candy, fried food--stuff like that. And the intake of my water is constant....gee. So all is good.

Get on with the day. Rain here in Dallas. Dream for the impossible to be the possible.

Stay tuned.

This Monday

Yea...yea...yea...Cowboys lost their inaugural regular season game in their Billion Dollar Bungalow last night. I am heartsick. My Marion Barber came up hurt towards the end of the game as he rumbled toward the end zone. Tony. UGH. Three interceptions. He's not superman, maybe to Jessica he was--but in the real world. At least he ponied up to it. But still. Dallas dominated and lost.
* sigh*
OK. Enough of that. Finally tonight: DANCING WITH THE STARS. You know I'm all over Donny Osmond, yet I'm kinda liking the Iron Chef guy. I wanna know if Mark can do something else besides point at food.

Stay Tuned.
...and Go Cowboys! I still love ya!

Sunday Short Simple

..and to the point.

Pastor Rickie Rush, of Inspiring Body of Christ Church, preached on 'temperance' aka self control from 1Corinthians. Alot of stuff hit home, especially the power of the tongue. It can uplift or destroy. Even you don't think think folk are listening-they are. What you say, what you do--folk watch and listen. Good, good message. As I walked out of the sanctuary, received a pleasant surprise of a hug from Bear. I was so surprised, I was speechless. Think I threw him off too. :)

Gorgeous Day today. Sun shines. Cats in windows plus the one on my desk-right in front of my PC monitor--asleep. A back paw dangles over the desk's edge, that a key or two is covered on the key board. Oh, well, He's cute.

Of course, the big thing is TONIGHT. Nope--not a lemonade date with Donny Osmond to give last minute pointers for Donny's. Dancing With The Stars debut-but the Dallas Cowboys play the New York Football Giants in the $1 Billion new Cowboy Stadium--TONIGHT! Finally a NFL game that means something! Some of the sports talk guys call the stadium the "DeathStar". It does look like a flying saucer. But ya know, I don't care-! As long as my Marion Barber plus the rest of the Dallas Cowboys rack up another win and win like they mean, the stadium can look like a turnip!

Short, simple and to the point: GO COWBOYS!

I am blessed,

December 28, 1998 was a Monday

I had a book signing that night. Yep, in my Iowa hometown's library. One of my BEST nights ever. Class members, plus their parents and friends of my family turned out for it. I felt like Cinderella. I've had alot of good days since then, yet there was something about that night. Special really. Felt so good and right to talk about my written words. To autograph books for everyone. Back then, I just didn't sign my name, I pretty much wrote a novella to that person. A personal touch, I guess.

I'd self published my book in September 1998. The first and only book I've written. A story that nawed at my heart, and still does. The story idea is great, but the way it was written then--could be so much better. At the time, I needed to get it down. To get it in people's hands. I'd sent out query letters for possible publication. Had two bites to see the completed manuscript. Both turned me down, although one publisher gave me 40 minutes of his time, on the phone, how to improve the story. I still remember to this day. And then I've learned so much as a writer over this time.
In fact, I've started a re-do about 3 times and quit. I actually did quit writing altogether after the book came out. I'd sent my book to a site for a review and be featured on their site. Oh man...the guy tore it shreds. I felt like a failure. Ever wrote that in my journal "I am a failure. I cannot write." Wrote nothing else--except in my diaries--for a few years. I didn't even think about writing. Didn't want to. Ignored the question, "What have you written lately?"

Ten years have passed. Alot has happened, because it had too. Today I enjoy writing fiction short stories. Query to have them published. But to my one and only book--it still is in my home town's library. Heck, I still have a few in my closet. Quit selling them long ago. Will I write another book? Sure. When the time is write. Not my time, but God's time.

Eventhough it was great I wrote the book--and I Google the title and my name. There are used copies on sites, that I don't recognize the language. HOW did it get there? Especially the SIGNED copies? I digress. I am proud I wrote the book when I did. God was with me, yet I pushed it through at times. I wasn't patient. I learned alot and lost alot of money. I had no plan. To self publish, you a plan A thru at least T is needed. All in all, I wasn't ready.

He's making me ready now.
OK-so now we have....

the Dallas Cowboys..*sigh* .They are behind the Philadelphia Eagles 41-3 and the game isn't over yet! Nobody saw it coming THIS bad. The Cowboys had to win to be in the play-offs. Former Cowboy QB Hall of Fame Troy Aikman is calling the game. I wonder his thoughts. If he wishes he were still part of the fray. Yes, it's why the game is played, yet the Dallas Cowboys didn't quite play it well enough. December 28, 2008 will end their season. Let the finger points begin. Uh, who threw those interceptions?

My night in 1998 was more fun. I am blessed.

4-0...

Not so much. Two points. Not the best game. The sun will shine again.

I make some pretty strong iced coffee. Gotta get me some decaf. Tasty treat though.

Strolled around my neighborhood. Sat on a bench at my half way point. Watched cars zip by. Stared at the best burger place in Dallas: Burger Island-which was across the street. Wished ttoday the Boyz tasted victory as good as Burger Island's onion rings. Oh well. My enthusiasm for this season has not dimmed. Go COWBOYS!

On the walk back home, checked out others' landscapes. My lawn needs blasts of color. Some stone too. Also a campaign sign. All in all felt good to walk.

Felt good to just be.

I am blessed.

Monday Marvelous....

So that little game in Green Bay last night--heard tell about it, didn't you? First time EVER Dallas Cowboys won at Lambeau. Won quite sound. Granted, still a road to go before the Cowboys hoist up the Lombardi Trophy in February. That thought, along with the visible evidence displayed on the field make it just that much more sweet. Gotta love the 3-0--which is first time since 1976 (a very good year!--right, Movie Man?)

Take yonder look at this picture of Marion Barber and Miles Austin, from the Wisconsin State Journal, snapped by Steve Apps. Their celebration of Miles 52 yard touch down! Hmm. Kinda looks like they're ready for Dancing With The Stars (which I'm addicted to and hence will be glued to the TV tonight.)

So if you will excuse me. Need to take a quick walk. Gotta bask in this Cowboy victory as I warm up for Warren Sapp, 82 yr old Cloris Leachman and the rest of the Stars, begin their battle to be one with the dance tonight. Will any of them be able to leap or lift as high as Marion and Miles?

Naw.

This Is Why They Play the Game

Some of it was pretty. Some of it was pretty ugly. Score says it all. Dallas 41, Philly 37

Marion Barber steppin' high!
2-0

The Seaon is HERE!

Sure, it's NOT 1992. Troy, Michael and Emmitt are no longer part of the mix. FAst forward, this is 2008. There's Tony, Terrell and Marion, plus a little Tank and a Pacman on the field. Let's do this thing--get the popcorn ready!

The REAL season HAS begun!
How 'bout them Cowboys!

Tis Friday and the Weekend!

You feel Joy:
--eventho it seems you don't have a dime in your pocket.
--eventho you tire, at times, of this historical presidential race.
--eventho you’ve gained some of the 70 lbs lost and kept off---until now.
--eventho a sinkful of dishes await attention, plus the mop for the floors.
--eventho you sit on your tuffet and wait if your story submissions are accepted.
--eventho you’re reminded of your heart surgery when the scar itches.
--eventho you can't phone Dad because it’ll be seven years gone Oct 18.
--eventho a cat decides to topple over a plant. Then stares at YOU!!
--eventho you got to wait till Sunday for da Boys to usher in the 2008 season.
--eventho not quite the party girl anymore-you still think of dancing' in September.
--eventho its not 1978 (and you’re happy it’s not) you are happy this music has stood time's test.
Cue the song.

Are you ready...?

FOOTBALL..as in NFL FOOTBALL!

So who cares if its the Redskins and Giants tonight? The REAL team plays Sunday at 3:15 Central time! Tonight is just the appetizer--to whet out appetites!

Blow that whistle-let's get this party started!

We have first down and a gazillion yards to go before that Lombadi trophy is hoisted.

Tis the season baby! COWBOYS. Sunday. After I go to the church house, Tony Romo will throw that ball so Terrell Owens can run it to the house!

Pass me that popcorn. Am I ready? YES, I AM!
