A Moment Ago
Well, more like six years ago when this pretty boy kitty
....and two of his siblings, were born underneath my bed. After I heard noises that lead me to treasure under said bed, and put a new family in their own maternity ward (aka my bathroom), I woke up the next morn, to this boy kitty's third sibling. We've come along way since that night in 2007. Two of his siblings have furr-ever homes. In fact, I tried to talk a co-worker into taking this boy kitty home with her. We sat at a Starbucks for two hours, with a by then 12 week old kitty. The co-worker really wanted a girl kitty, tho. On the way home, after a stop in PetSmart, where I carried the boy kitty in my hand and passersby-oooh and ahhhed--my precious cargo looked at me with these big, ol' saucer sized eyes. He had me.
And Noir the Texas Tabby, has had me every since.

Friday
......and so good. Had the last two days off. In those two days, I decided I will make my own coffee for my drive to work. Yep. I brought a can of coffee, creamer, and a new mug. I'm set. The deal is, whenever I make coffee it doesn't seem to taste as good as other places. The money I plunk down to Starbucks and 7-11 (although 7-11 is just $1.79) adds up. So I figure the more coffee I make at my own chateau, the closer I can get to the Mercedes in my driveway.
I do dream big.
Now 'cuse me while I go read the directions on the coffee can :)
Happy Friday!

Friday
Another triple digit day here in Dallas. It is June. Better get use to it. And I gotta say, the window a/c unit that took me a day and a half to put in, has done its job better than I ever imagine!
**Before I go bask in the coolness which also includes a TV and remote, let me tell you I got in trouble today at work. Yep. Kinda felt like a trip to the principal's office. Although the reprimand took place a few desks down from my own.
***What did I get in trouble for? Oh, and another co-worker got pulled with me. We were both stumped. Turns out we were called on the carpet for giggling and laughing. We disrupted those around us.
*****Really? OK. Yea, I admit, we did take a few minutes from our job, and did a laugh about silly stuff. Was a nice, quick break. We tried to keep it not so loud, and just amongst ourselves. Evidently we failed. I was OK with all the manager said, because it was wrong if we bothered other folks. Then the manager said the person who reported us, supposedly told us to quiet down.
****WRONG. Never happened. And it should have. I was a bit floored with that. Then ya know, it hit me that today IS Friday. So I took a deep breath and remembered Starbucks waited for me and our end of the week date...
Not bad..not bad at all.

104
Twas the Dallas temperature today.
*I musta had something else on my mind because I did not stop to get a Starbucks Mocha Frappucino or a Sonic Mocha Java Chiller or even a McDonald's Mocha Frappe. Nope. None of that. So, yes my mind had to be on other things.
**Men.
****Yea. Told ya. Other things. I love me some men. As I get older I still don't get understand em. Has it always been the women keeps the situation calm, listens and nutures, while the man doesn't? I mean--the man may listen, yet doesn't ask question or react to what a woman says, but will say,
*"I sure do like being with you."
***Hmm. And people wonder why I heart cats, paint terra cotta pots and got a thing for blended coffee drinks

Saturday Done
Heat has made its way back to Dallas. I guess the not too hot not to chilly weather could not last forever. And of course, my house's a/c decides to not work like it should over a holiday weekend. So the a/c guys won't be here until 7:30 Tuesday morning. I do have some cool air coming out, just not as as cool as it should be. Got a ceiling fan in just about every room, plus a Starbucks on just about every corner.
The tabby cat in the photo is named Noir. He gets to savor the last bit of whipped cream from my Starbucks White Chocolate Frappucino.
Yep. Summer is bout here. After Tuesday and the a/c guys do whatever they need to do, bring Summer on! .... :)

Sunday Say You...
The day: GORGEOUS! Another Dallas day with a high temperature in the mid-70's. I got a Coffee Frappucino from Starbucks. While I devoured my beverage, my cat Noir took in Sunday from an open window. Only the window screen separated Noir from the outside wilderness. I wondered what went thru my cat's mind? What went thru my mind is how I wished I had more whipped cream on my Coffee Frappucino.
Sunday: GOOD!

Friday Frapp
76 F was the temperature in Dallas as I left work today. Yep. I decided the weather was warm enough to take a spin thru Starbucks. I just had to purchase my first Mocha Frappucino in 2012. Yep. I certainly did.
The temperature told me it was warm enough for to deserve such a treat.
A chum of mine and I discovered we visit Starbucks at different times of the year. She is more of a 'go when it's chilly outside', for her warm caffeine fix. While I am a 'go pretty much every day that's over 75 degrees' to get my cold beverage treat.
I realize I don't visit Starbucks for their hot beverages. I think because the coffees are too strong for my taste. If anyone has a Starbucks hot cup o coffee they like, please do tell. Otherwise, I will wait for the next unseasonably warm Dallas winter day.
Something bout the whipped cream on my Frappucino makes me smile....

Terra Cotta Curious
Did I ever show you this creation from August past? I do like what I tried to do. Paint job was not the best--yet it gave me an idea what the 4 inch terra cotta pot would look like. I gave a better painted pot, with a quote from the great American actor Morgan Freeman on the back, to an actress friend of mine. She loved it. Nice surprise for me. Yep, my own worst critic.
As I take another look at pot tonight I smile at the Mod Podge Sparkle used to seal the photo to the terra cotta. See the sparklies? Never ever once thought I would be all about the glue!
Anyway, I use an inkjet to print the photo on regular ol' bought at Wal-mart or the dollar store tissue paper. Nothing fancy. And the subject?
My kitty Noir. When he was a twelve week old kitten, Noir sat (and crawled with me for two hours at a Starbucks. As I tried to talk a co-worker into taking Noir home with her. That was four and a half years ago. Yep, I do think I got the better end of the deal!
Am proud of my little terra cotta pot. Yes, I sincerely am.
Still shock about the 'inner crafty' I did not think I every really had--
In the mean time, gotta find the subject of the photo-
Noir owes me a purr or twelve since I shared him with the world! :)
Stay tuned!

And...
Monday aka another sizzler. I had a Starbucks Mocha Frappucino. I should just wear an I-V filled with the stuff all day!
Anyway, made it thru the day. My once cute, natural curly when I left the house this morning hair frizzed up today. Yea, I know it's part the heat and whatever product I'm using that ain't doing what it should be doing. I don't remember frizzin' up this bad last summer. Although, it wasn't quite this hot last summer.
In a nutshell, the hair and I did survive--for another day!
That's all that much matters.

Yea baby.
So whatta ya expect one to do when in such a furnace...?

Well. you certainly do not argue with the cat....

Waterslide On (decals!)
Began to think I could not locate any decal paper except online. I hated the thought of buying more than I needed--especially if it didn't work. In my quest for clear transfers, I've mastered packing tape, contact paper, and Omni Gel (GREAT quality!) Yet, I didn't like the finished transfer product on the terra cotta pots. Even found Avery Clear Sticker Project Paper--which I didn't know existed. I'm sure it may look OK--except I printed on the WRONG sheet of the paper. My photos weren't that good/dark. Then came the Testors Decal Paper. I did find the paper at a little Mom and Pop hobby store. Actually right after I bought the Avery Stickers in a Wal-mart, and as I made my way to Starbucks, I saw the name of the store. I scurried in to be met with dozens of model trains and cars. The young man took me to the Testors Decal Paper display. Testors paper is for waterslide decals made printed by an inkjet printer. The 6 clear sheets are 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. With out further a-do, here is my decal:
Right now my decal dries on top of a paper towel undisturbed--just like the directions said. It will stay there overnight. Curious if it will look different in the morning. Most important, what will the decal look like on one of my pots?
Stay tuned.
Stay tuned.

Tick Tock Time
Tonight I met up with a chum for coffee and girl gab at Starbucks. The cool thing was, her daughter is manager of this said Starbucks so we got free stuff. Free is good.
Had one of my "Want to write a book in a night" itching. Even tho, I know I have to do alot in my new class, it doesn't seem as crammed as the last couple. So I'm going all back to time management, so I can do a "write some of a book in an hour."
On the whole time management thing, I remember when I recuperated from my little adventure of open heart surgery--I had to regain more strength than I realized. So I had my schedule of I'd get up, try to put on some clothes, then take a 10 minute walk which could have been more like 10 hours. I'd have to stop-and wondered if I'd ever be able to talk farther (well I did). I'd go back to my apartment and do what I could, then after I watched my shows, eat and such, I laid down from 2-3:30. Then eventually I gained enough strength to READ. So I'd read a book for an hour.
What I'm getting at: everything had its own time to shine. It worked for me. And I"m trying to get back to this. I can't add time to the clock, yet I can use the time I have.
Like my chum and I talked about business ideas and she said she 'just didn't have the time." I told her we sat in Starbucks for TWO hours! We both laughed.
Yet, two hours do the best with.
Make the most with it, because ya ain't gonna get it back...time.

Sunday Short and Hot
Just jump right up on it: got my Praise ON today at MY church: Inspiring Body of Christ Church, with Pastor Rickie Rush. Even saw Bear for moment and received a belated hug before service-a surprised indeed. IBOC is a church I just knew I was never, ever gonna be a member of! Pastor Rush of blessings, being anointed, people drawn to you and how we must live by faith. There was so, SO much today. To realize God's Grace took care of me, when I couldn't even really take care of myself...and trust me, this so does explain alot!
All ready treated myself to a Cafe Vanilla Frappucino. Watermelon chills in the fridge. Cats snooze now 'cause bellies are full.

Stay tuned.

Just the right time to get a bit of house stuff done, plus with all the questions of "Are you still writing?" which happened again about an hour ago, I may just need to do some.
Stay tuned.

A little...
Tuesday for ya. Hot here in Dallas. Around 98 or so with heat index of 104.

However all is well. A/C cranks out the cool air. Taking a break from school. Well, for a night anyway.
A new class, started today--and I don't have to do anything in it, until tomorrow. So a break is needed. Oh the last class, which ended yesterday, couldn't end soon enough. I will get my lowest grade in that class. With no PC, no camaraderie within our Team projects, my not turning in some projects--even tho I enjoyed the subject matter, the situation stunk. I counted down seconds to the five weeks' end. So a new class. A new vigor. I want my "A" back. Stay tuned.
Seems like alot has happened. I am so glad I headed to Iowa. Granted, when I was about 10 miles away from my hometown, my chum Deb was on the phone telling me the turn out wasn't like they thought--GREAT. All in all it didn't matter--I had a BLAST. I think I told you, I had lunch with a classmate, here in Dallas, last week, didn't I?
We knew each other in high school, yet not close buds or anything. We had a nice chat at the Reunion. And he lives about 20 minutes from me. What was neat for me, and maybe him too, was being able to chat with somebody who knew you 'before'--From high school, anyway and able to talk about today and tomorrow. I love the chums I've made in Dallas, although there's something to be said to chat with someone who recalls a little past moment in time--just like you do--just "before."
Food was good too.

Sunday Short
Sun shines here in Dallas as I ready myself for church, Feels good to get up and go.
Last week, back in Iowa and caught a few minutes of my church, the Inspiring Body of Christ service, with Pastor Rickie Rush online. I pointed out to my chum Deb, the seat I call 'mine'.
Deb asks, "Do you have assign seats?"
Time zipped by so last week. I do miss Iowa to a degree--I honestly do.
As I sit here, already thinking of the Starbucks Cafe Vanilla Grande Frappucino I'll treat myself to later and the several malls, Wal-marts, and Targets in my radius, the 3 grocery stores within 5 minuts of me, with 2 across the street from each other and one of those with a Starbucks IN it! I wonder if I could really adjust to small town living again...
Stay tuned.
In the meantime, gots to go get my Praise on!
He didn't bring me this far to leave me...

Wrap Frap
The furry, yet orangy kitty posted here in my Perry. He's also the kitty in this blog's banner. Together we've been almost 9 years and he'll turn 9 years old on the 4th of July. Firecracker, Perry is, who so loves the remants of my Starbucks Cafe Vanilla Frappucino--just a teeny taste of whipped cream I let him have. At times, I see age creep in him, (just like me) yet Perry purrs, demands my attention and plays with a cat nip laced toy like he's about a 9 month old kitten. Yep, he's my Perry One.
Ya know, I was actually gonna write about the day and thoughts of stuff, like I'd love to have the BP Oil people take a dive in their own oil.
Alas, I digress.
I'll cut it here instead. Perry remains on this desk. Purrs. We've been thru a lot. Perry gave me ringworm when we first met. Ran to me, meows all the way, the first time he saw me after my 3 week hospital stay in 2006, and now. I rub his chin and he nips my hand.
Yep. It's a wrap for today. Gotta go cat cuddle.
I am blessed.

Sunday SunDOWN
Anyway.
Got my praise on today. The all-male choir praised and rocked and the spirit was felt through out that place. Pastor Rickie Rush, the Inspiring Body of Christ Church, said, "Change is a process, not an event." I don't always agree with what Pastor Rush says, although those words stuck with me. We need to take a wellness check and admit there's something wrong with US-seems to hold us back from blessings, while others seem to be able and get theirs---maybe something in our past. Gives me pause to ponder. I think of my mom's death when I was 13 and also the not so much encouragement received from my step-mother, when I wanted and needed a female roll model. All makes sense. Yep--to ponder and learn from.
So as the dark sky so early at night bums me, I see IOWA is #8 on Top 25. I believe they don't get enough credit. Sure, they may not be on Florida or 'bama's turf, however the QB threw 4 picks in one quarter and were behind 21-7. That same QB led the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 42-24 win in the next quarter. Even without the less than stellar officiating, would the score been that much different? Lou Holtz, on ESPN, said Iowa only impressed him with their win over Penn State! Gee, Lou--I thought good teams figure out a way to win. Stay tuned.
And my Dallas Cowboys won--soundly--over Seattle! Felt nice to watch. Miles Austin can smile for any time and I'd help Marion Barber braid his hair-anytime! coffee. All in all--a great day. Sun did shine ALOT today. GORGEOUS. Now if you will excuse me, gotta try this Starbucks Mocha Frappucino ice cream which awaits in my freezer. Certainly, will aid in my being bummed of sky being dark by 6:30PM.

Being Nifty at Fifty...
The cover of current JET Magazine announced Prince is 50. Same age as me. Imagine to sit and chat with him at Starbucks. If the crowd was too much, there’s my kitchen to munch on my scrumptious peach pie with crumble topping. Has Prince joined AARP yet? I haven’t. When Prince sang ‘1999’ in 1983, did he think 1999 forever away? I did. Now 1999 is almost 10 years ago and that song still sounds good 25 year later. I’d let him know, Little Red Corvette was my favorite song. Not so much the whole “When Doves Cry”, even tho he sizzled as he rose from the tub in the video—even with the not as beefed up bod as I prefer. I’d inform the Artist Formerly Known as Prince who is Prince again, the first time I saw him was on The Midnight Special singing, “I Want To Be Your Lover.” Dressed in black and big hair, I wasn’t that sure if Prince was a boy or a girl. Song kicked tho. I’d ask Prince if he still thinks he’s in his 20’s or 30’s, even when his body reminds him otherwise. Does he wear reading glasses? I do. So does Donny Osmond. Oh, and I’d tell Prince how much I loved the instrumental of “Diamonds and Pearls.” Yep, Prince is 50. Madonna and Michael Jackson will join our ranks in August. Hey, come on over—there’s enough pie and questions for everybody.
