A Moment Ago

Well, more like six years ago when this pretty boy kitty
....and two of his siblings, were born underneath my bed. After I heard noises that lead me to treasure under said bed, and put a new family in their own maternity ward (aka my bathroom), I woke up the next morn, to this boy kitty's third sibling. We've come along way since that night in 2007.  Two of his siblings have furr-ever homes.  In fact, I tried to talk a co-worker into taking this boy kitty home with her. We sat at a Starbucks for two hours, with a by then 12 week old kitty. The co-worker really wanted a girl kitty, tho. On the way home, after a stop in PetSmart, where I carried the boy kitty in my hand and passersby-oooh and ahhhed--my precious cargo looked at me with these big, ol' saucer sized eyes.  He had me.

And Noir the Texas Tabby, has had me every since.

Show n Tell on Wednesday

Etsy. Me.

I mentioned the other day how I opened a shop on Etsy. I am an entrepreneur. My procrastination hormone was in overdrive. Any and every reason I could think of to NOT open my own business--large or small.  Don't have enough items posted. Not enough inventory. What if items weren't mailed in a timely manner? What if the world told me to pack up and leave?
*sigh*
So after alot of talking my own self silly, and the fact I ran out of ice cream--I decided to jump in.  Reminded by friends and my cat Noir, that Hallmark wasn't always what it is today...Which of course made think I need to write a script so it can be adapted for a movie on their Hallmark Channel--alas, that dream still percolates!
****For now, it is Esty and my kitty stationery--a dream  for awhile now--we will see how true the dream becomes!

Saturday Done

Heat has made its way back to Dallas. I guess the not too hot not to chilly weather could not last forever. And of course, my house's a/c decides to not work like it should over a holiday weekend. So the a/c guys won't be here until 7:30 Tuesday morning.  I do have some cool air coming out, just not as as cool as it should be. Got a ceiling fan in just about every room, plus a Starbucks on just about every corner.
The tabby cat in the photo is named Noir. He gets to savor the last bit of whipped cream from my  Starbucks White Chocolate Frappucino.
Yep. Summer is bout here.  After Tuesday and the a/c guys do whatever they need to do, bring Summer on! .... :)

Sunday Say You...

The day: GORGEOUS! Another Dallas day with a high temperature in the mid-70's. I got a Coffee Frappucino from Starbucks. While I devoured my beverage, my cat Noir took in Sunday from an open window. Only the window screen separated Noir from the outside wilderness. I wondered what went thru my cat's mind? What went thru my mind is how I wished I had more whipped cream on my Coffee Frappucino.

Sunday: GOOD!

Terra Cotta Curious

Did I ever show you this creation from August past? I do like what I tried to do. Paint job was not the best--yet it gave me an idea what the 4 inch terra cotta pot would look like. I gave a better painted pot, with a quote from the great American actor Morgan Freeman on the back, to an actress friend of mine. She loved it. Nice surprise for me. Yep, my own worst critic.

As I take another look at pot tonight I smile at the Mod Podge Sparkle used to seal the photo to the terra cotta. See the sparklies? Never ever once thought I would be all about the glue!

Anyway, I use an inkjet to print the photo on regular ol' bought at Wal-mart or the dollar store tissue paper. Nothing fancy. And the subject?

My kitty Noir. When he was a twelve week old kitten, Noir sat (and crawled with me for two hours at a Starbucks. As I tried to talk a co-worker into taking Noir home with her. That was four and a half years ago. Yep, I do think I got the better end of the deal!
Am proud of my little terra cotta pot. Yes, I sincerely am.
Still shock about the 'inner crafty' I did not think I every really had--
In the mean time, gotta find the subject of the photo-
Noir owes me a purr or twelve since I shared him with the world! :)
Stay tuned!

New Year's Eve Eve

Can you believe it?
2010 is about to close up on us. Seems kinda like yesterday it New Year's Day 2010, then we have a 12 inches of snow in February, I start school, a new job, gain weight, lose weight, gain weight, attend, my all decade High School reunion in Iowa, think about giving up this house, celebrate my 4th year anniversary of that pesky open-heart surgery I had, committed to a new church home, started new friendships, strengthened some, kinda tapered off on others, pet cats, fed cats, cleaned litter boxes, said good-bye to the sweetest kitty-Perry (who remains on this blog's banner), started a novel (again), saw a chum get married who I watched go from a brat to an intelligent, successful woman, basked in the thought of making a peach pie with peaches from my own peach tree, only to have my outside 'pets' take a bite out of just about every one, tried Vietnamese food because a classmate asked me to, still ponder what color to paint these walls--I have enough color strips on them as is...and well....you get the picture.
On this next to the last day of 2010 looms, I'll reminisce of what happened and what didn't. I'll Thank God tonight becausse he let me see this day, and I'll thank Him tomorrow if He sees fit to wake me up. Then I'll wipe the sleep from my eyes as the final day of the year beckons and may have the look of this kitty...

"2010, it's been good. It has. I'll miss you. I got my impatience showin'
See, me and 2011 are eager to get our year long party on!"
And yes, the kitty DID say that...!

December 28, 2008 was Sunday

...and the day my cat Noir started 'his' blog: Noir's Nook.
Yea, it was to be just a lark. I, being the *human* I am,
Had no clue animals had their OWN blogs.
For some reason, I thought Noir would be
One of the few creative cats out there--.
WRONG.
When Noir got a comment from a hamster, I realized
This whole animal blog thing was HUGE.
At first, I wanted Noir to be a feline with opinion-
To chat of world events, TV and such.
The few posts didn't really jell, so visits then to other blogs,
Noir's blog had to be about what he knew--
His life and his family --which included me--for better for worse
And dreams he may have ruling over his savannah-
Noir isn't a world famous feline, yet has chums
All around the world.
Pretty cool technology literally brings the world together!
And remember those postcards I printed up?
Well, Noir decided I should be the one to send one
To any of his world wide chums who want one.
Hmm. It's funny we've not discussed wage of any kind!
On this day two years after Noir started his blog, Noir's Nook
I gander over to the the CEC aka Chief Executive Cat now...

'nuf said!

Am Too

That's what I am. It's 9:14pm. I promised myself I was going to bed early tonight..and I am.

Did some school work. This instructor--has already given me positive feedback on my posts. I'm beginning to think this Human Services Bachelor of Science thing I'm goin' for is a good thing. I do have do alot of writing for this particular class this weekend--plus I'd like to do some of my own fiction writing--my novella cries to me to add more words to it. I'll see what I can do.

Oh, and I tried to prune my wisteria tree--yes, tree--I hope I didn't kill it. Anyway, a branch popped me in the face. Since I take a blood thinner, I won't be too surprised if I have a bruise. Anyway, I'm pretty proud of myself for taking on such a task. It had grown enough, it had wrapped itself around my neighbors' tree branches....

And the kitty posted here? His name is Noir and has his own blog, Noir's Nook--which seems to get more hits than mine. Hmm. I can't be hating on my own cat, must be cuz Noir purrs! :) Anyway, I took snapped this picture just a few minutes ago. Noir perched on the blankee I have for a cat who decides to keep me company while I toil on the PC. Noir decided tonight was his shift. however Noir does decide when his shift is also over--cuz Noir pulled an Elvis and left the room....

...and I am too.

It's Christmas Eve Part Done

Movie Man called from his parents' Corpus Christi home. A package, he had been expecting, unexpectedly showed up at his bachelor pad. Hesitant, was he, to ask if I'd check on it, that I wound up asking HIM about going to get it. Especially since Movie Man doesn't arrive back in town until about Dallas-Philadelphia game time on Sunday.

For the couple mile trek, I decided to take my darkest tuxedo tabby:Noir. He's the cat who plays fetch and follows me everywhere with this mangled what used to be a stuffed mouse on a string. That's the toy we play fetch with. So I scoop him up and off to Movie Man's we go in the Pumpkin.

Yea.

Noir meowed LOUD. I'm sure some of you are saying, "Well, OF course, a cat may yowl in the car." My shock is Noir NEVER meows. He just sits and stares. The last time I heard Noir holler like that was the night he was born. The Tuesday night in June, when his mom hatched Noir and siblings, underneath my bed.

All in all, we made it Movie Man's and back without incident. I will say, occasionally, Noir looked out the window and watched the other cars zip by. Now he's over in the chair. Wonder if visions of tuna fish and cat nip treats dance in his head? . And I'm ready to head to the couch after I grab a Christmas cookie.

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
