Almost Been

....a week since I've stopped by. My, oh my..it's not you, it's ME. Stuff just seemed to be on the docket and not time enough time for everything. I think my problem would be solved with a lap top, then I could tippy tap anywhere....hmm.

OK. Today is the 18th straight day of 100F heat here in Dallas. OK, talked enough about that

Last week, I'd mentioned about going to a play in Ft Worth by hitchin' a ride with the male lead guy in the show. Well, I did and had a GREAT time! Here's what the play's flyer looks like. This weekend is closing weekend and would like to try to go again. The male lead guy was fun and made me laugh during the ride and even in the show. I really couldn't believe it was the same person. On the way to Ft Worth, he's got on glasses and short, then on stage he's all dapper in his vest and slacks, singin' and hoofin'...Oh, and get this, a lady saw us as we got food before the show. The the male lead guy left for the theater to get ready, and I stayed behind because I had time to kill---and she asked where do you go to find the good men like him? She thought we were married or at least GF and BF. I laughed and told her this was first time we'd ever spent time together and just friends we are. Oh, and the lady and I chatted until I went to the theatre--about an hour later!

Oh, this past Saturday night, I ventured to a book launch for a chum of mine. Mingled as they say. Ran into old co-workers and loved that. Worked with them both years ago, and now the two are married. He's a video guy, plus quite the cutie, and has an episode on DIY Network in October, he shot. Anyway, we talked writing, movies etc--and the wife, who is one of the sweetest folks you'd want to met-told me when I have screenplay to show, show them because you just may never who they know and what could happen

Right now, I know what IS gonna happen. Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and TV. I've been so wrapped in doing more than I even mentioned--so tonight is a break--until tomorrow.

Toodles.

Aerobics class started. Didn't make it. I just made it home 15 minutes ago. As I headed to work at 7am--which I is not part of norm--how it would be a tight fit to get to class by 6pm, eventho I was to get off at 3:30. My POKE test (which I call my Coumadin Check, because your finger gets poked) was at 4:20. The total round trip is approx 60 miles--which didn't include, the time spent at the doc office, or the stop at Target to get my refills. I sat at Target at 5:20 --to wait for a pill they hadn't filled. I wasn't smart enough to have had any my aerobics clothes with me to just change there. So to drive home and change and drive to the rec center---just was not feelin' it to walk in while the ladies were doing step. Just not feelin' it at all. So Thursday I will go aerobic and looking forward to it.

People go to work at 7am? It was DARK. Anyway, I am tired. My cats even look at me with closed eyes. Long day. Good day, yet long day.

OK, Dancing With the Stars tonight. I hate to say, yet it might be the night Michael Irvin goes home. The Playmaker did SO much better last night--but....otherwise, I'd be OK if Melissa Hart or even Aaron Carter shuffle off to exit stage right. I want Michael to stay.

Stay tuned.

I want popcorn. In 11 minutes I'll shall munch some.

And as the DWTS Results continue--at least I CAN say Donny "The Argentine Tango" Osmond and Michael "So Glad To Dance Another Day" Irvin and Mark "Who Broke My Heart Cuz He's Married With Children" Dascascos SAFE!! Gotta butter me some popcorn--back to the show!

As Much As Something Changes.....

I spent time in a bowling alley tonight. A Saturday Night. I didn't even bowl. A chum asked me to be her guest at a celebrity bowl-a-thon to raise funds for scholarships. Comedian Dick Gregory was in attendence as was some local Dallas celebs, from media to sports.

As I sat and chowed on nachos--which were good when the cheese was warm-unfortunately, once underneath the top chips, the cheese was cold, I listened as a dj spun tunes. He went all late 70's, early 80's dance music. OK--some of us would call it disco--yet, I digress--I surveyed the room.

I wondered if some of the folks remembered other Saturday long ago nights. When the music the dj played tonight was the music we hit the floors with. Danced all night--or at least to 2 am in Iowa, more procisely, the Joker in Des Moines, Iowa. I thought of the Joker's huge floor- that flashed red, yellow, blue lights. When THE song came on, smoke pushed it's way over the floor. Ahh...that was the time.

Some of the folks tonight, tapped their foot, bobbed their heads. Yep. It all came back. Was it really that long ago, that being in bed by 11 only happened when you were sick or old people? I just smiled.

Maybe the nachos weren't so bad afterall--the music warmed em up.

American Idol and Dancing with the Stars...

Should we say Jason Cast-OFF? What was he thinking/singing? As much as his eyes are gorgeous, his performances---were as horrid. I really don't get David Archuleta...maybe if I was 15? Syesha....does have a good voice-yet I've not 'felt' her. Her second song--I was with Randy on that. Didn't stop the moment for me. David Does He like Older Women? Cook--is my hear. I'm not a Who fan, yet--he had me. He said he was born in 1982. When Hungry Like the Wolf came out...gosh I remember when that was about the only video MTV played--that is when they did play videos--I just like him.

Dancing with the Stars...sorry to see Mario go, yet glad Marissa Jaret Winokur is still there. Like she said, you don't need to be a size 2 to dance. She's showing how we big girls show out stuff across the floor! And I'm checking the schedule to take ballroom this summer--I'll make sure I have 911 on my cell speed dial.

Time for a couple spoonfuls of ice cream and pet a cat.

At lunch today...

I sat with four church chums where one born in 1975, two in 1977 and one in 1980. Three young ladies and a young man. Very interesting to hear views. All the time I saw was my life and what I was doing in their birth years--drinkin' and dancin' mostly--yet, that's another post.... :) To hear them speak of the election. How they didn't want it be such a black/white thing. The young man, one of the two born in '77, said, "I know somebody famous died the year I was born. I don't know who it was tho."

Elvis Pressley, I informed him. He stared at me as if I jibber jabbered. I just shook his head and shrugged his shoulders, "Whoever he is."

Ahhh....and to think all I had to drink was pink lemonade.

Home Closing....

Tomorrow--at High Noon, I close on my first Home. I am excited. Scared. Eager. My apartment is in such disaray. Just want to lock the door and leave everything---well, everything except plants and cats---yet, I'll be adult. I clear out the clutter. Adult. Gee.
Prior to Close, I do my Six Month Blood Draw. To make sure everything is doing well. Then I walk across the Heart Clinic's lobby, for my coumadin check. I've been great with that--'in the range'--with the whole Vitamin K business. Took awhile to get regulated. To not be scared of eating a leaf of spinach. Vitamin K . Have too much of it, your blood thickens, too little, your blood thins. I've had it 'just right' for the last few months. God is good.
Psalms 50:15
Tomorrow--I close on my first home. WOW. This little guy, will pick out his window. Then all will be right with the world...and besides tomorrow night, I will have my house keys, chocolate covered strawberry ice cream, and Dancing With the Stars...yes, all will be right with the world.
