Tis the Season

For Miracles.

Told my chums I thought the Dallas Cowboys could beat the undeafed New Orleans Saints. I admit, earlier today, for a moment or two, I thought the Cowboys wouldn't be able to pull off a victory.
And they did--at the Superdome. First time in 15 years.

Even when soon to be ex-kicker Nick Folk missed a sure-thing icing on the cake kick at the end.

Last week, DeMarcus Ware was carried off the field. . Strapped to a cart. Scary. Unsure of his condition.

Tonight, DeMarcus played-tough. Just like bright stars do.

Yep, Tis the Season

And glad got my head back together before game's commenece...

Friday Feel Good

During last week's road trip with Movie Man, he popped in a CD that after about every song I announced: 'I had that on a 45!"
He laughed. Because about the only thing Movie Man knew with that number in it was Colt 45.
I digress.
So on this Friday, after a work week was complete--yes, I'm blessed to have a job--yet even in these hard times, I STILL believe in miracles for better--I recalled the Fridays my chums would converge at my house.
On 7th Street. We were in high school.
Vinyl albums and 45's stacked high to wait their turn.
One song really ticked off my step-mother.
Pretty sure she felt we were all devil's spawn when I played it.
Didn't stop it from being on the turntable tho!
I smile now, when one particular word is uttered--
Cue Hall and Oates; "Rich Girl" and toast those teenage years when all was worried about was who completed their geometry homework so you could copy it!

Monday Marvel

My Cousin Sussers was to be released from the hospital today. Will call her tonight just to make she's following the doctor's orders.
Saw my first robin today. I smiled. I could hear my Daddy, up in Heaven, whisper in my ear, "See your first robin, Spring is not far behind." Heard him tell me that so many years. I miss my Daddy. And I can hear him say, "You big baby." And I would respond with, "Yes I am. I'm your baby. No matter how old I get." Then Daddy would chew on his King Edward cigar.

The marvel of cleaning out litter boxes and to put trash by the curb. It's such a chore. And the one time, I really wish a man was here full time to do the trash thing. Then my mind wanders to after I had my mitral valve replacement surgery and my first full shower after. I ran out of breath just as I dried myself. I had to sit down. I about collapsed getting to the chair.

Panic. Would I always need to stop and catch my breath? For anything--even as simple as drying off?

When I mutter about the trash I should remember how it was in 2006, and how it is now.

I'll take now. Quite the Monday Marvel.

I am blessed.

Shoes were made for walking....

Been in my bungalow for two weeks tomorrow. Had yet to stroll the streets of my neighborhood. Since this whole house thing started, it seems I've been every where but here. I've not had my daily walk in --well, about two weeks- So about 7pm, I put on the tenny runners and sought adventure.

I'm in love with my little neighborhood. Sure, it's older. Yet, the feel. Reminds me of the town I grew up in. I like that. The sounds. The sites. A cat sat on top of a VW and meowed at me. I stood by a bridge and thanked God for His blessings. He's shown me miracles. WOW--has He.

Made it to my street. I noticed a dark reddish/pinkish rose was in bloom, on the side of my house. I also noticed my seven year old orange tabby cat yowl from the window. Impatient was he, as I stepped in the house. So after a quick pet the cat session, I decided the rose needed to come into the house. I found container for the rose and went outside to pick it.

It's now on top of my fireplace mantel. Gorgeous. That was the only rose bloomed so far. The buds are every where. I'm curious what other flower this little lady who lived here had. I've heard nothing but good things about her. She passed away in November. Her sons sold the house--hence, it's now my home. I hope I make her proud of my own gardening.

Now--back to this rose....in the house where I grew up--we had rose bushes. One the color of this rose, and a yellow rose bush. My mom picked them so they could be on display in our home. She loved her flowers too.

Yes, this little neighborhood reminds me of home.

I am blessed.
