Snow Mo'

The sun came out today and melted most of the snow.
The temp wasn't any 75 degrees today, yet it felt so good.
I worked on some school stuff and even went out to work a little today.
Just because we missed so much of the week-
Such a weather week! A chum of mine joked he
Looked for an experienced snow shoveler, and was I available--
I joked back and said even when I lived in Iowa I didn't shovel--
Hmm.
At least I hoped he was joking...
Anyway, below is a picture I snapped yesterday.

My bistro musta been the only one open
For the birds to stop and catch a bite...
Spring is next month. We're suppose to get
MORE snow tomorrow...
Stay tuned.

Finally Friday

Oh wow.
I could go on and on and on..
Texas Rangers down 2 games to zip in the World Series...
Dallas Cowboys have 1 win and gazillion losses and without Romo...
My impatience shows with dreams I have...
When do they come true? I have my Joy.
Rejoice.
Yet
Got invited to a classmate's house for Thanksgiving--nice.
Heck, I met Rick Springfield-
Because of Facebook, a woman who was once one my pen pals in junior high found me...
Stamps then were either a nickel or six cents. We later met in the same Kansas City workplace, surprised we'd found each other then...
Another chum says to come out out NYC so to do coffee-
All in all it's good.
Finally Friday.
Nothing more need be said!

Thursday Here...

...an so am I..Finally! Had PC monitor malfuntion from Tuesday thru most of Wednesday. Monitor was just a white screen. I unplugged and fiddled with it, and Wednesday night it began to work. We'll see for how long. Gave me time to price others, if need be.

'nuf of that. Let's get to the fun stuff: I met RICK SPRINGFIELD Tuesday night at a signing for his book, "Late, Late at Night." about 15 minutes from my house. Heck, I'll never have him THAT close again. I didn't even KNOW Rick was in town until I saw the news Tuesday morning and the news lady asks, "Do you like Rick Springfield?" I sat up in bed and reached for my 100 year old glasses to catch a clip of Monday's signing.

So after all these decades, I shake his hand, make him chuckle by telling him a quick tale how back in the day, after a concert, it was just him, his band, my friend and I, in a Ma and Pa gas station/diner at midnight in the middle of Iowa, and I was too scared to talk to him---and now FINALLY I could! Plus, I get a kinda fuzzy non-flash used photo. I don't care. It's RICK SPRINGFIELD and he's got his arm around ME! After the photo was taken, Rick did a thumbs up, but the girl didn't get that. I don't care. RICK SPRINGFIELD and me. Me and RICK SPRINFIELD. Finally. And for those couple minutes, who cared about Jessie's Girl....?

Friday Love!

It's Friday. Not a whole lot to be said, except I was kinda having a Rick Springfield moment. The guy celebrates a birthday in August. How can somebody make being in their 60's still so darn sizzlin?

Yea, Rick Springfield moment. I'm going to back to the 80's for this little ditty. Was from Rick's not so Oscar caliber movie: "Hard to Hold"--which I remember I won free passes from a radio station.

Movie awful. Rick HOT.

Just gotta Love Somebody. It's Friday. Just do!

Soothe

That's what the rain did today. Soothed. And still kinda does as I type this.

Today the last song I hear on the radio as I pulled into Inspiring Body of Church's parking lot, was the classic "The Closer I Get To You" with Roberta Flack and the late, great Donny Hathaway. I hurried to my seat, because it was close to service time and Bear is the last person I pass to get to one. Bear was ready to give the group prayer. After Bear finished, I told him how good it is to hear him do prayer--Bear beamed. And said what I truly believe, "It's all God." Did I ever say Bear looks good in a suit?

IBOC's Pastor Rickie Rush taught a lesson on how to get thru disappointments. He used cripture from the Old Testament, The Book of Jeremiah. The lesson included Pastor Rush discussing a ride on a roller coaster and when he was little and stole chocolate out of his mom's purse. The chocolate which really was Exlax--this lesson dealt with what God has called you to do and how you are always in His hands. Trust me--it ALL worked! :)

Got school work done. Never cleaned the house--imagine that--smiled at my backyard flowers and the leaves on the pecan tree. The scent of burgandy roses waltzed to my nose and then I smiled how a cat with dandelions is dee-lightful sight of Spring.

I am blessed.

Sunday Still...

IS the weekend! Hey, no work tomorrow and I am ALL over that!
Really need to put my laundry in the dryer and wash my dishes...
Why?
Or I could pet a cat, read a book and drink a cup o joe!
Like that a whole lot better.
Ya know, on this still the weekend, I think of folks that have come and gone in my life.
Even folks of recent times. Even folks that never knew me. Seasons change. And that's OK.
Memories never change.
And I smile
Like I smile a whole bunch because of music that conjurs up memories.
So I feel like savoring some more Rick Springfield and "Human Touch"
Somewhere along the way I saw this concert tour.
How more hot can somebody be?
Like I said Rick Springfiend ain't your daddy's AARP!

And now gotta get that cup o joe!
Enjoy the rest of still the weekend!

Rick Springfield Last Night

He was in town last night. Rick Springfield. And I MISSED him. Oh wow. Back in the 80's day, I usta know every tour stop the man had! Hot! Hot! HOT! Found out way too late --like too late last night-Rick was here.

I evidently didn't pay ANY attention to papers, the radio or even the all knowing world wide web! UGH. Woulda gone alone. No biggie. I've seen Journey, to Three Dog Night, to Tina Turner solo--so no prob. Heck, I coulda rode the rail to the front door of the venue. UGH.

I've not seen Rick in concert in about 4 years or so. There was an 80's time, my chum, Fifth Street Friend, would see 4 Rick Concerts in a week's span. One time after experiencing Rick's hotness on stage in Omaha, Nebraska, we started the trek on I-80 East to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A good couple or so miles away and Rick's next concert stop.

About forty or so miles outside of Omaha, Rick's tour boss took an exit in Atlantic, Iowa. How did we know? Because we were following them. There were two gas stations across the road from each other. We picked the wrong one. They went to the one that had the diner! Looking back, after a concert, I'd be hungry too! So we bee-lined it across the road. The time? Some where around midnight.

We got brave and went inside. Some of the guys were at the counter doing a chowdown on some good Iowa home cookin'. And Rick? A sign of the times: Rick was on a PAY phone! I recall Rick wore white boots with fur at the tops, and this was summer time. And oh, what did me and Fifth Street Friend do?

Nothing.

We had Rick Springfield to OURSELVES. In a gas station/diner, Norman Bates would find grand, and no other girls, we did NOTHING. I recall I had on some purple blouse with RUFFLES down the front and Rick Springfield was so close I could reach out and touch him. And we did NOTHING. No picture. No autograph. Hmm. Maybe I bought a pack of gum.

As Fifth Street Friend and I walked to the car, we were in the path of some of the band guys tossed a frisbee in the parking lot.

Wow. A pack of gum and a frisbee. No Rick Springfield.

Later on, when we watched Rick on some TV show, my step-mother shook her head, "You run after that man all over the country. And the way you run your mouth about anything, you don't even open your mouth when you had a chance! You should be ashamed of yourselves!"

I still am.

And I missed Rick last night....UGH!

So cue up "I Get Excited"--because Rick Springfield, who turns 60 in August, still gets me just! This ain't your granddady's AARP!

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
