Sunday Sundown

Got my praise on at Inspiring Body of Christ Church, with Pastor Rickie Rush, today. Message hit home for me --as they seem to ALWAYS do--Why go through the trials we do as we wait for the good stuff? How our character, conduct and conversation are played out--do we cut those from our lives that drag us down or they really don't 'get' the light we have from our Walk.

Never been the patient person---that explains some horrid choices I've made. Plus patience was something I had to embrace during my open-heart surgery and recuperation. I couldn't do much and had to rely on others--which is not my thing. Yet, during that time-I had to. To feel like ALL of me again--too nine months. That feeling came over the Christmas --a present if there ever was one.

Also how folks may treat you different than before-which goes to your conduct, character and conversation, because of your Walk. This past Friday, a co-worker was upset about her job. Dropped the f-bomb a few times. I just let her go. She needed the rant. Then she said, "I am so sorry. I shouldn't be saying that. I am sorry." I smiled and told her it was OK. Wasn't that long ago I cussed better than a longshormen and down alot of vodka mixed cranberry juice, or orange juice or grapefruit (Hey, it was a way to get vitamin c!) Made me think I was Russian until about 2am or when the bars closed. Anyhoo, I'm humbled folks apologize for cussin'--it's kinda like if you knew ALL my story-you may not be apologizing! :)

Yea. Good message today.

To make me all the more strong. To make sure my faith remains where it belongs.

So as the day winds down--promised myself I would wash the dishes and mop my floor before my Sunday array of TV commences. I got the Blue Bell Cookies n Cream ready! And yes, the 74 ounces were sipped today!

I am blessed.

So You Try

To be patient. Ain't your best characteristic. You're grateful to have a job, yet not the job you want to be grateful for. One of your buds, Bucket (who has been your computer guy for anything you've asked him and says he wonders if you'll invite him to Burger Island again) leaves a week from Friday. And you think another chum, Movie Man may follow suit. Now you know Movie Man reads this blog and he will say, "You don't know that." Let's just cut to the chase, yes you do.

Back to the matter at hand. So what about you? You think of the positives. How you are truly blessed. How He got you up this morning. How He got you through this day. You remember how He said he would rescue you as long as you promised to give Him all your troubles. And all you had to do was give Him glory (That's from Psalms 50:15 if you thought it sounded familiar).
Yet you still wonder, "When is it my time?"

When He says it is.

Patience.

Didja Ever....

Have one them days where you know you’re blessed and so grateful to have a job? Yet in the blink of an eye you get popped IN the eye –again—why the job you’re blessed with and grateful to have ,ain’t for you?

Yep, one of them not so much a hallelujah day was today.

Part of the problem maybe you’re the square peg tryin’ to be put in the round hole. Your tasks are so structured you’re asked, “Do you just not want to try?” Nope. Not quite. Because you’re structured enough to expect a particular direct deposit into your bank account every 15th and the last day of the month.

You have gifts. You have passions. God knows what you have, cause He gave em to you. The Holy Spirit is always there to help guide—if you’re open to the help. Why be so afraid to do what He tells you? Oh yea, that whole flesh thing about fighting cats for empty tuna fish cans, while they keep you warm under a bridge, because you lost your bungalow and the HHR Pumpkin of a car ran out of gas miles ago.

OK—so you exaggerate. You are a writer. Oh wait, that’s a gift. A passion. Your words. People, you least expect, give your feedback. Just a couple weeks ago, a woman you could not stand, praise you for a book you self-published a decade ago. Another woman came up to you, announcing she wants to write but doesn’t know how. Her youngest son is autistic and she wants to write children’s stories about special needs kids. She listened to every word you said. Then there’s a young man, he loves movies, so you call him Movie Man, reads your, blog (yet never leaves a comment) just about everyday, and never fails to tell you over and over and OVER how good of a writer you are.

Then, tonight you go for a two mile walk. Gotta clear the head. You sit on a bench and talk to God. List out your desires: Publication of your written words, people to listen to your spoken word, new job where your skills are utilized, money for more home improvements and the infamous cat food. Yes, you prayed big. BIG. Of course, He only knows if you’re ready. You have to do you part. You gotta show Him.

Hmm. Your worked on a short story today that is destined for submission to several publications-then sent out more than a dozen resumes today-then on your walk you gazed at other houses for improvement ideas-and you’ll set the DVR for “Private Practice” because of pretty Mister Taye Diggs because you need to run to Petsmart to get the cat food.

The Holy Spirit holds your hand tight. And in the meantime while everything falls into place as only He can do it, enjoy alittle Elvis Presley from 1960's movie, “GI Blues,” with the song “Didja Ever?”

Remember you are blessed.
