Talk Tuesday

As I chatted with co-worker. SJ, who forever reminds me she's from KEEN-ya and says I need to learn more about my ancestry--and she's right, of course--I'm envious because English is SJ's third language, out of fourth--I digress--the point of this story, is I tease SJ how she throws intimidating looks--well, her eyes got big and goes, "HA! You've been intimidating people at the work place since you BORN! I told her that just wasn't so--heck, I didn't have a job when I was born.... :) Oh, and SJ wants to braid my hair. She wonders how I don't really like braids so much, especially that when she grew up in Kenya, she and her friends weren't allowed to braid or relax their hair. So when they got old enough, they lavished doing things to hair and that includes a love for braids. A love I don't share. SJ has actually shown me African braid styles...but me...intimidating...? HA!

Then in Wal-mart, in the pet section--of course, a young man seemed confused as he looked over the cat food. So what do I do? I strike up a chat--and for about 15 minutes, I educated him about cats and better food--no ground corn in the 1st three ingredients, litter, getting his two 7 month old Maine Coons spay and he was quite the alert student. The chorus of "Thank You's" was great. It was nice to chat about something I know.

And I heart cats, but you already knew that!

Oh, and I started my second college online class today. Oh my. This instructor is really into papers. And yes, I love to write--and I think I'm pretty good at writing..well, as long as it's fiction. I love a good challenge. I just wish a melt in your mouth Morris Chesnutt or cuddly Tom Hanks was my prize.

Stay tuned.

Monday Night and I Ain't Got Nobody...

No "Dancing With the Stars."

Will have withdrawl symptoms for a bit.

I can hear Movie Man say, "Well, with more time on your hands you can finally finish Harry Potter 6 before the movie next Summer. Unlike what you did for Harry Potter 5. Or you do have all those dozens of books you buy when Half Price has its 20% off sale off its all ready half price! Ya know, the ones in the basket- I carry for you and bust my arm?"

Then my writers' group members would say "Gee, as a writer you know you must make time to write. Its not going to come to you. So with that extra hour and half or so, you could tweak that story you promised us a couple meetings ago. And plus, submit more so others can read your words. Make the time, Writer. Honor your own words, that's what you tell us."

Why yes, I could do all of that. Just not tonight.
I've put the trash out (one of those I wish I had a man things). Cleaned litter boxes, looked at the sinkful of dishes. Fed the birds and squirrels. Let Perry roll around on the patio, then caught him before he ran around the house. Went to the store to get a 9 inch paint roller thingy. Looked at my mop and wondered if I still knew how it worked. Jimmied with the chimney floo thingy to see if I felt confident tonight to build another fire and not burn the house down. I don't.

Plus there's still one last piece of pun'kin pie that needs to be savored as I rewind the first announcement of "American Idol" to start back up in January.

Yep--got that extra hour and half or so will come in handy.

Scaredy Cats

I don't even have to wear lipstick and I'm still cuter than any pig trying to pick out their right shade.

Co-worker today saw a cat photo of mine. She stared at the pile of furballs in it. Asked if she liked cats. Oh no, she said, she's scared of them. I asked her why, since a cat is 1olb or so. She really couldn't answer. Said she'd always been scared. When folks tell me they're scared of cats, it's usually because they're 'sneaky.' Or cats 'look at them funny." Or a cat tried to bite them. When I asked what they were doing to the cat, it's usually there kids and pulled the cats tail. Well, heck, I'd bite you too.

Can give folks their props of being scared of cats, though. Once upon a time I had a problem with big dogs. When I was fourteen, the blind (key word:'blind') German Shepard of my best chum's grandma scared me. I'd just been standing there and my unknown scent probably set him off to take off after me. My chum laughed while I really wanted to run all the way home. The problem was we were about 10 miles from home. However, I can love on big and small dogs now. Cats--well, have my heart.
Why else would I read cat food labels to make sure corn gluten meal is not anywhere in the first three ingredients and buy cat litter that makes us all happy?
Eventho one just jumped on my mantle and knocked over a plant. This plant was housed in one of my favorite containers. Looked like a gigantic coffee cup. Could probably hold a couple gallons of liquid, until its crash to pieces on the floor. The best would be a thimble full now.
The guilty culprit? The one posted above.
Does he look sneaky to you? :)

Monday Morning...

Rejoice in the day the Lord has made.

Showered. Fed cats. Cleaned boxes. Sweat all ready because it's 80 degrees and it's not even 8am yet.

Time to head to work so I can pay for the water for my morning shower, for the cat food since my felines are picky on what they eat, for the litter because my felines are picky what they use and pay for the electricity that my air conditioner uses so I can cool from the sweat.

Is it Friday yet?

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
