I HEART Cats Saturday

Saturday here in Dallas. Hmm. Doesn't the cat kinda say it all?  Cat doesn't worry about makin' terra cotta pots pretty, paying the mortgage or debate whether to buy exercise equipment or order Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. Nope. Cat decides if food dish is filled to her satisfaction. And if her litter box stinky-free so can go and do  her business and make the litter box just as it was before. Then cat will decide if I am worthy enough for her to curl in my lap, scratch up my legs while she makes her one brand of biscuits and possibly purr to signify I've done what a good job--for now.
And ya know what?  I would not have my Saturday any other way.

Middle of the Week

That's what today is. Wednesday. Hump Day. Whatever you want to call it. The photo of my cats kinda has a middle of a week look to it. The tuxie cat in the middle is Mommy to the mancat tabby on the left and sister to the the mancat wide load tuxie who has his leg over her, on the right.
The girlcat's name is Edie. However, I have not called her Edie, since she had her babies, Which is when I realized she was an Edie and not an Eddie. So we're talking four and a half years ago.

Just something about felines. I have said it a coupla times and I will say it again...I heart cats.

I Still Heart Cats....

...and I'm amazed at folks who don't. I listen to their reasons: "Cats are too sneaky!" "Cats aren't like dogs! (really?)" "Cats suck your breath! (Really?)" "Cats are scary!" "Cats stare at you!"--the list goes on...I do try to listen to find out the real issue. I remind folks, especially men, they are a gazillion times bigger than a 10 pound full grown tabby cat. I try to respect their anti-cat reasons, as long as they respect I quite heart them. That respect battle, I am so on the losing end. Oh well.

This guy is the stray (?) neighbor cat who bunks in my shed. Since at least July. I swear I've seen him on a lawn with several other cats, about a half block away. I feed the neighborhood, yet he's the only one who really stays here. Actually, I just went out to my shed. He meows, yet won't let me touch him. I can get close--especially with food in hand--yet not touch, we still have issues. I hadn't seen for a few days, until yesterday. He's clockwork for coming outta the shed when the sun comes up. I see him sit by the shed door. He sees me come out the backdoor and hightails to me--of course, I do have food in hand. Meows all the way. A chum says he's 'wanting', yet confused what to do. Some mornings he's already on my patio, staring at the back door--by the empty food dish.

Clock work. Yep.

I still heart cats....stay tuned!

I Heart Cats --again--

Had this chat today at work, which I have had already. Mentioned this topic on this blog too. "If a man wants to marry you, but he doesn't like cats what would you do?" This question was posed about 7 different times (at least she thought that many) by my co-worker, The Captain--we'll call her TC from now on. TC has brought this up a couple times. She's been married for 16 years. Said when she first got with her hubby, her cat hissed at him. Hubby said "Cat's gotta go". TC was about 20 at the time. So the cat went. I told TC, if I were in my 20's and some guy was all into me, the cat may have gone too. Not now. TC's argument was no man wants to be with a woman with multiple cats. I told her, by the time somebody asked me to marry him, we would have had this conversation about pets. I'm a pet person--whether cats, dogs or ferrets. So if he waits to present me with a ring and then says, "Oh, yea and baby, Fluffy needs to find house for the litter box...." I'm too old to deal with that. My life experiences, the men I've known, that fact I'm grown older. Didn't matter to TC as she kept saying, "But the man wants to marry you...."The man is telling me give up something I love. An ultimatum. As long as it's not illegal or hurting anybody--he wants me to forgo something I love. I ain't feelin' that. Not everybody is an animal person, I do get that. I can respect that, as long as you don't boast about harming an animal. Then my claws would come out. Back to topic: Early in the relationship. It would be up to the man if he can honestly handle cats. If not--well, we'll be chums that maybe do just coffee. Things could change--without push from me. TC just kept on with, "But he wants to marry you! You'll be alone for a long time if you pick the cats over a man." I remind TC, I'm not picking anybody over anything, besides I asked TC what if the man has something I don't like? Is he going to give that up for me? Silence from TC. Then I say, "I'll never be alone, I have God with me always." And TC rolled her eyes, which I told her I caught her doing. TC asks me don't I want to curl and cozy up at night to somebody at night? Well, of course I do. TC reminds me since I have cats, that ain't gonna happen. I smile and tell her I so do disagree. God has plans for me. That's all that matters. TC rolls her eyes again.
Conversation done--again.
