I HEART Cats Saturday

Saturday here in Dallas. Hmm. Doesn't the cat kinda say it all?  Cat doesn't worry about makin' terra cotta pots pretty, paying the mortgage or debate whether to buy exercise equipment or order Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. Nope. Cat decides if food dish is filled to her satisfaction. And if her litter box stinky-free so can go and do  her business and make the litter box just as it was before. Then cat will decide if I am worthy enough for her to curl in my lap, scratch up my legs while she makes her one brand of biscuits and possibly purr to signify I've done what a good job--for now.
And ya know what?  I would not have my Saturday any other way.

Thin it is!

Nope. NOT ME, but the thin crust pizza I had today. Let me tell you, I am not a fan of thin crust. At least that's what I thought. Until a chum and I headed to a part of Dallas called Deep Ellum for lunch. During the night, Deep Ellum is a hot spot for bars, live music and hanging out happenings . Ya know, all the stuff I did before my bedtime became the time I use to go out--I digress. Anyway during the daylight hours all of us older folks hang out at the plethora of Deep Ellum and amy ponder if want to go into the tattoo shops...

My chum and I ventured to Cane Russo. The eatery specializes in Neapolitan Italian cuisine. They cook those luscious pizza pies in a wood burning oven cranked to 900 degrees. The oven is placed far enough away, yet close enough you can see your pizza pie cook--all of about 3 mins of cookin' time.

I decided on the Zoli. The pizza was decorated with Italian sausage, Italian cousin of pepperoni (just a tinge more spicy), basil, the best tomato sauce I've tasted and cheese to slobber over. Tasty, TASTY treat I devoured today!

Good eating. Good time spent with my chum. Good just all around!

Cane Russo ain't your neighborhood Pizza Hut!

I HEART Pizza

Had on Travel Channel the other day. Their quest was to find the best pizza in the whole USA.

OK, I do love me some 'za. Yes, 'za. That's what me and the chums called the supreme and delicious item when the Pizza Hut opened in my Iowa hometown. That was during high school. Our town of 7000 or so, thought we hit the bigtime. Pizza Hut was a nice addition to our already 3 stop lights and two grocery stores. This was before McDonald's even came to town.

I digress. Back to the Travel Channel. They visited two Brooklyn, NY pizzerias that made me want to hop a silver bird to taste test for myself: Pepe's and Sally's. Both are run by different members of the same family. Pepe's came first and then a nephew (I think) later opened Sally's. The stuff that came out of their oven looked GOOD! The pizzerias' atmosphere and aromas graced my own cluttered and cat filled house through the TV. Make mine a large...Do I dare say I slobbered over the screen?

When I came to my senses, I realize Brooklyn was miles and a time zone away. And the thought of my self rising frozen pizza just wasn't gonna rise high enough-no matter the brand! .

Pepe's and Sally's: Consider your gifts for our palettes on my Bucket List!

Yep, I me some pizza!
