Best in Show---ME!

You talk about a dream I never once thought would come true because I never did dream it ever!

Yep. Me-when I it comes to art--paint on a canvas aka abstracts, especially. This love of mine has been around since the Autumn of 2015.  Not long in some relationships. However, it took awhile to decide if we really did like each other.  The way we made each other's acquaintance is another story, which I may share sometime.😊  Trust me tho, look in the dictionary for self-taught, and you may see me there!

In the meantime, I bask in my purple ribbon from the TVAA Gallery in Dallas. The artwork's title is "Interrogation" and the gallery's them was "September Shadows."  I am even more butterfly tickle giddy because this was my third time to be selected to participate in a show!  The Texas Visual Art Association is a place that gives us new/aspiring artists an opportunity to be seen.

Never thought my art would be in a gallery, not ever thought I would be doing anything artsy except wondering how pretty I could circle whip cream on fresh strawberries. Look, in junior high, when art class became part of our routine, I asked my parents if they would still love me since I got a "C" on  my report card.  My lowest grade ever (up to THAT point).  The "C" was in art. I dreaded going to class for the longest hour in my life. An hour, I would never get back! So, you can tell it's been a quite a journey.

A journey I can only Thank the One Most High for because He knows the plans made for you!

Until next time....expect the unexpected!

Terra Cotta Caper Contnues....

If you are anything like the ladies in the crafty store I seem to frequent more than a regular basis: Where IS this pot? You ask because you want to see!
The co-owners of Googly Eyes Craft Store sure did.
Again.
Tonight.
Anyway.
Did you know rubber stamps can be used on terra cotta pots?
I didn't. Well, I never ever thought of it, til last night.
Google'd and read lotsa stuff.
So tonight I bought this ink pad:

It's Frosty White. I've been practicing on a couple of my test pots. Must say, I'm impressed with ME more than I was when I tried stencils and a puncher...
Oh I didn't tell you much about the stencils and the puncher?
Probably good reason...
So, I add an ink pad to my treasure of craft supplies.
Who knew? Craft supplies...ME? Naw.
Also this is a pigment stamp ink pad (OK, I didn't know there was a difference)
Worked much better on acrylic painted pot, than gloss spray painted pot. Don't have a matte spray painted pot, so no opinion on that
There you have it.
Rubber stamp used on terra cotta pot.
Stay tuned.

Spray Paint Terra Cotta Pot

That's what I did during commercials of Dancing With the Stars tonight. My problem with spray painting, is I think I spray too much and then my lack of patience for it to dry. This poor pot shows what it was two colors ago. Tonight it became 'glossy' watermelon. The glitter was later...
I realized I love primer. Erases EVERYTHING. The quandary: I like the inexpensiveness (cheap) of acrylic paints however I don't really want to paint verses the ease of the spray paint. Then there's the difference of spray paint I have to be in a well ventilated place (outside),plus the price (higher) while acrylic I can sit in front of the TV. And the acrylic does go on smooth, plus goes along way for it's less than a dollar self.

What I've read about terra cotta pot player, they prefer acrylic. I can see why. Tomorrow my task will be to paint a pot with acrylic. I never knew this stuff really existed until--well, a couple months ago. I found out Michael's (big box craft store) has it's own brand--basic colors, yet just what I need (cheaper still).

I've learned alot about paint and terra cotta pots. I'm gonna Mod Podge em too. Yea, I never knew what THAT stuff was either.

This terra cotta project, I thought I would complete in a just a few days.

WRONG.

Being crafty, especially when you got C's and D's in junior high art class, is WORK. I admire folks that are good at this.

Hey, I write fiction, not oogle pictures for what's gonna look good on a terra cotta pot....uh, well, sorta maybe I kinda do now....

Stay tuned!

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
