....and another thing...

That happened since I last posted.  The cougar, in me, came out and growled a few times.  The beauty of it is I didn't realize I did do any growling.  A 28 year old man--who yes, is quite handsome, built-looked at me and at my hair. OK, I wear my hair natural. I hit upon the right products to make my hair curly and soft to the touch (for very little money thank you very much!). Mr. 28 looks me straight in the eye and says, "I want to just run my hands through your hair." I tried to tone my blush. Yea, we were at work too. I composed myself (which for brief flame flicker I didn't want to, but....) and told Mr. 28 not to utter such words----especially at work.  Mr. 28 says he doesn't care. I told him I hope he wasn't heard and he better care. Nobody needs to think anything sexual harassment.

Yes, I was flattered. I made sure I didn't sound annoyed or attacking towards  Mr. 28.  I wasn't mad a the cub young man, yet reality reared its head.

And since then, Mr. 28 has kept any such comments to himself....*sigh*

What Are You Reading?

Folks know I like to read. Granted, I don’t seem to finish books in a speedy enough fashion, like, let’s say: Harry Potter V or what is IV? I didn’t finish one of them prior to the movie release, just like I am, right now with VI. I digress. Anyway, I DO like to read, and there is one story that a chapter has come to a close, VI years in the making.

Movie Man accepted the new job offer and begins on March 2nd. Granted I am so thrilled for him! And I’m honest to say, sad for me. I re-read the pages of this chapter from Movie Man and me. Some good pages, some not so good—especially the blanks ones. Those translate into the days and weeks we didn’t utter a single word to each other for whatever reason. When we fought---well, we fought. That only child, stubborn, I AM right kinda thing going on. Learned a lot during those pages—good and not so good.

Sure, we’ll still be chums. How can we not? Racquetball, Burger Island, the Boofay, movies, and even the Cheesecake Factory (and Movie Man just said “Really?” when he read that!) will still be there. I mean, who else will bust their arm carrying my basket around Half Price Books and know to find me in the Clearance Section? However, the comfort in the knowledge that other was just across a giant room, if needed, disappears.

Movie Man and I sat back to back, for pretty much close to III years. We bonded over movies and books. I was amazed (and still am) a friendship blossomed with somebody who was born III months after I graduated from high school. It wasn't easy, and even now can be a work in progress. But then good relationships are.

When my illness came on, in February 2006, Movie Man swears I left him. Maybe so. Yet I didn’t apply for somebody to do their job and crack my chest open. :) I digress. Anyway, while I was in the hospital, Movie Man came in one day and announced a job, in another department, but still on our floor, had opened up. Should he apply? By the time I came back, from my leave of absence, in May 2006, Movie Man finally landed that job. So the adjustment of not being back to back had to be smoothed out. We still had comfort in the knowledge the other was close at hand. That feeling will remain for a more days.

Waterproof mascara will be worn on the day this chapter's final words are scripted.

Comfort in the knowledge the book continues.

I am blessed.

Cougar Cool-Aid Part II and stuff

During lunch today, one of my Lunch Chums questioned me on my Cougar piece. She teased (I think) how rumors could fly at church. What if the young man reads it? What would folks say--including the Pastor? You know he's too young for you...blah, blah, burp....In fact, the day before Lunch Chum suggested I delete it.

Nope. That ain't happenin'.

Then after all was said and done, Lunch Chum, asked, "What DID you write?"

Interesting on the feedback. Wow. The piece wasn't scathing, X-rated or nothing of the sort. Even Movie Man, 18 years my junior, gave a thumbs up to my written words, while I heard others say, "you shouldn't be thinking that way."

WHAT way?

The young man appears mature beyond his years. I admire him. His potential shines. That doesn't mean this cougar and makes him the gazelle that tries to flee...hmmm and well, you know the rest of the story.

Nope. That ain't happenin'.

Cougar Cool-Aid

Cougar’ has taken on a whole new definition. Not such a strong, gorgeous feline in the forest anymore, but a strong, gorgeous feline who resides in her own habitat, on any given street, in any concrete or non-paved jungle, on any given hemisphere. The cougar, I speak of, is an older feline who has a hanker for younger cubs. You know the celebrity roster: Demi Moore, Joan Collins, Susan Sarandon, Halle Berry and even “Mar” aka Mary Tyler Moore—guess tossing that cap in the air was a good thing! .

What about the everyday woman? Clips coupons. Likes the sales at Target. Watches The Next New Food Network Star? Ya know, like ME?

See, I was told I’m a cougar. Why? Because I have a sweet little crush on this guy. Even though Movie Man is 18 years my senior—we’re more like little brother (one I never wanted) and big sister (when he listens to me). No, I’m talking about this guy from church.

CHURCH?!?!? :)

Calm down.

I don’t think he’s older than 25---if he’s even 25. Early 20-something. When this guy was born—let’s says 1983—I was---well---hmmm…uh…doing things. Chums look at me like I’m nuts (hey no nod of your head! J What can I possibly see in him, they ask? After all, I could have carried him in my belly!

After some ponder: his potential. Hugs ain’t bad either, yet, we’ll stay on topic. His potential. An aura of maturity circles him. Our conversations have centered on writing, and have taken place only in church. Granted, he’s young, with so much more to experience (heck, so do I!) He hasn’t got a clue what’s in store. Yet, from his vibe, I’m confident when he hits life’s bumps in the road—he’ll be able to smooth em out—no problem. I just see it. Know it. Feel it.

My chums shake their head: He’s too young for you! Look, I’m not asking to wear his letter jacket or get married. However, I do wonder how our conversation would be over coffee. To hear his view of the world. Our history making election. His dreams. Then I wonder still, would I be able to carry on a conversation with a guy who never experienced life without computers, cell phones, or gasoline less than a dollar a gallon?

Maybe I could. Maybe I couldn’t. Almost makes me want to find out.

Nonetheless, I see a good man on the horizon. His parents did a good job. His potential. Our future looks even more brilliant with more guys like him at the helm.

If that makes me a cougar---so be it.

Now, if you will excuse me, I need stalk my prey for this night: Blue Bell Coffee Ice Cream.

Thoughts of Past Loves

The Holidays are pretty much right here. Yep.  Especially since three Christmas movies, in the last three days, between Lifetime and Ha...
