MTV debuted this day in 1981. My roommate and I didn’t have cable at the time. So I sat in my boyfriend’s apartment, mesmerized by this new channel-music videos--all day, all night—I want my MTV! Where’s Michael Jackson? I liked the curly head guy VJ, Mark Goodman. In fact, I saw him recently on, I think, a VH1 Classic show. He’s not so curly headed now. Once upon a time, there was just one MTV. It was all about music, 24/7. Wow, what a concept….what happened?
Ventured to my church home today. Sermon was How Things are Different This Time-from Mark 4:22-25. Sometimes we need to cut away those folks that are trees in our lives. Leave them behind. Somebody will always be hating on you for something. For me personally, I wonder if it’s time for me to move on to another church. Then I ask myself: Why? Am I getting spiritually fed enough? There are days I crave for more. Funny, back in the day, I only craved Sundays for the next NFL game and enough rest prior to said game to get over the Gospel According to a Six Pack, from the night before. A different time indeed. He hasn’t brought me this far to leave me. My Spiritual Walk should be in step everyday--not just a Sunday thing. Prayer-lots of it.
Speaking of the NFL, ‘tis the season, because I saw brand new Dallas Cowboy t-shirts in the stores. Gotta love THAT! And we all know Jason Garrett will be coach next season—win or lose this season. I’m ready to get this party started!
Today was another good over 100 degree day. A/c is a good thing. So is iced water and cable TV—because then you could watch the finale of the Next Food Network Star. . And then you could see that I called it from the beginning: Aaron McCargo JR IS our New Food Network Star.
Now to savor a small taste of ice cream to close out this day.
