It's 6:30 AM Monday as I type this.
Here in Dallas it is currently 28 degrees with a sheet of ice blankets most of the city. Not too much snow, at least not in my neck of the woods. However, some schools are cancelled or starting late.
This is when I realize I still have some "Iowa" left in me. Twenty-eight degrees back home, in January, would be balmy and cause for sun screen. To cancel school because of hardly any snow and ice that will melt by noon? You better get up and get out of the door and not be late either!
Which is exactly what I'm doing. I couldn't even find my job's bad weather hotline. The last few times we had bad weather, and it was worse than this--my job was not postponed. So I can't imagine it being postponed today. Yet, alot of my co-workers won't make the trip. It happens everything time.
I get asked the next day if I made it. When I say "Yes" their response is, "Well, you're from Iowa."
Yes, indeed I am.
