Monday Mow Down

A year.

That's what it's been since I started this blog and bought this house. Can't believe it's been a year. I thought I started the blog after I moved. Yet twas right before. I look at some earlier entries. Kinda long winded even then.

And March 17, 2008, I signed a million pieces of paper to become a homeowner. I still recall the bitterness toward my original lender person. She did help me get the house and I will forever be grateful-- yet her tone and conduct towards the end turned me sour. My realtor--the second one-was great and still feel good about him this day.

Fast forward. Another gorgeous Spring day today. I await what kind of news the tax man gives me. Life was easier when all I did was the 1040 EZ form. The tax man is actually my realtor's dad. He's an accountant. And since I liked how his son did business, I thought I'd take a chance on dad. Especially after Turbo Tax taxxed me out. Then there's my lawn. Looks like it needs to be mowed soon. Taking out the trash no prob, yet ain't quite felt the buy the lawn mower thing. Not when the lawn guy and crew of three have my front and back done in less than a half hour. Yep, I'll write THAT check.

Back to the house. I've committed myself to make it my home, instead of treating it like a rental. I've done none of the decorating I planned a year ago--except laminate floor put in one room. The problem is, I wanted TWO rooms with laminate. The one room done is this picture. I call this room, the morgue. No natural light like the rest of the house. The chairs have been moved and the paneling still remains. I'd like knock some of the wall down to open up the space. And get rid of the panel, then I wonder what kind of the condition the drywall is in under. A chum-who's husband did the majority of the put down of laminate- gave me some textured wallpaper to cover the panelling and then paint over it. The wallpaper is still rolled up in the sack. The saga continues.
My love affair with HGTV Network came to an abrupt hault. It's taken me awhile, however I've now fallen in love with DIY Network. There's something about it--seems a bit more realistic with the shows and folks they have there. I understand it takes more than a half hour to do stuff. Drat--on being realistic...nonetheless...

So the plans to paint, decorate and get stuff I want-besides another new bird feeder-I mean, like kitchen appliances that are more 2009 than 1973, are listed on a piece of paper. The paper is on my fridge, held there by a magnet.

The magnet says: "Dull women have immaculate houses."

I ain't dull. The sinkful of dishes prove that.

Stay tuned.
