I Heart Cats

I do. I heart them alot. Always have. Always will.
Most men I've know hate em.
In fact, back in 2008, I blogged bout a cat chat with a male chum-
Click here to take a look.
Anyway, I heart cats.
I remember being mad at Mom because she wouldn't let
Me keep any of the outside cats inside-
Not until we got a little Siamese kitten Mom named Minglee
Who was the first cat that ever slept with me--
And so has every cat since, including the one posted here...

Too bad most of my chums hate cats. Too sneaky they say.
A couple men said I'd pick a cat over them...
When I was younger I woulda got rid of cat in a blink if I could keep the guy...
Now being older and continue to ignore AARP membership invites
I'd give a man a lovely parting gift and send him on his way....
Purr-fect man is Christian who likes cats and doesn't think twice bout the poo box--
I do believe he does exist...
Yep, I heart cats!
And proud to admit it...
...I want a dog too....

Well said you!

I love your conversation with that man creature about you and what is yours.

My ex- he was lovely really, loved all nature - except my cats were a constant pain to him, a constant thorn in our then beautiful home that for me became a house to live in with my cats because he couldn't stand their fur everywhere, their silliness, their boisterous personalities etc etc.

When I lived with just me and the cats I never noticed anything. When I lived with the ex and my cats, my goodness, I couldn't relax and found myself apologising for the cats... anyway! I woke up when I realised, wait a mo - if it were the other way round - if he came with a big donkey, a ferret and an iguana, I'd love them. I'd have let them do whatever they do. I'd love them because he loved them. I knew we weren't meant to be when I realised he wouldn't do the same for me.

:-)

You just be who you are! A beautiful wonderful amazing woman who hearts cats and dogs. The sweet man who falls for you (and he will, he's out there!) is the Luckiest Man alive on this planet!

p.s is that Uncle MaxMaxx ?

Take care

I found myself apologizing for my pets also. As time went on--I knew that had to stop...and it did!

Yep, this is Uncle MaxMaxx..

I came over from Old Kitty's blog....I thought that was Uncle MaxMaxx too! I do follow Noir's Nook.

So much of what you wrote struck a chord, though when my ex and I were together, we didn't have any fur family. I thought of it from time to time, but he didn't want any, though he grew up in a house full of cats and his mom always had at least three, often more, around. (Turned out he just didn't want any fur family with *me*. LOL.)

And in my 20s and 30s that was okay. Yes, you have to compromise, so I did. And oh, how much of my Self I sacrificed!

It took me a long, long time after we split to regain those pieces of Self. I am into my 10th year divorced and I don't even attempt to have another relationship. No man I've met has been worth the effort, worth the sacrifice in the long run. I'm sure there must be decent men out there, but as I read fairly recently in a novel, they are all married, gay or psychotic. And to find an emotionally mature man, one whose ego is secure enough that he doesn't need constant attention? Good luck with that.

I will be 46 very shortly and I will not compromise. I'm perfectly aware that no man in my age group is interested in someone pushing 50, with body parts starting to sag, an interesting collection of emotional baggage, and three cats. No, men in my age group are divorcing their wives and chasing after young women in an effort to shore up their own flagging...er, egos.

My dearest friend recently separated from her hubby of almost 19 years. They had had problems from the beginning, but his biggest complaint was that she valued her horse, dog and cat more than she valued him. And in the end, it was true.

Non-human Beings offer us so much, so much more than humans often can. Our connection with them is unconditional, the love purer, I believe.

No, I never would give up my fur companions for a human one.

I'm glad for the feedback! When I was younger, I thought EVERYBODY loved animals, especially cats--hence there wouldn't be a problen my romance deparment...it boths some men I"m a born again Christian (hey, I could slam down some whiskey shots--just a few years ago) but the having cats thing--is worse! Interesting!
