Storm and home

A brutal storm did its more evil on some part of the Dallas Ft Worth Metroplex a couple nights ago. I'd been in my new home all of two nights when it hit. Winds of tornado proportions blew its nose hard enough to shatter windows in one friend's third story apartment. She and her daughter held tight in a bathroom. They are staying with another friend until they can diagnose all the damage. My old apartment is about five minutes from her--piles of tree limbs dotted my old complex. As for my first major storm in my new home--

Slept through it. I know my power went off--yet by dawn it was back on. I did have two nice size tree limbs of my own on my front lawn. However, I was able to drag them to the curb. A bunch of tinier branches too. All are gone. I'm fortunate.

And so was my chum and her daughter. She has renter's insurance, plus nobody was hurt.

As a new homeowner, I realized I have to pay attention to such things--just can't call maintenance....Hmmm..Oh well...as much as everything changes--it all stays the same....I have ice cream in the freezer!
